flat and easy to play on. Fast green.
I would return to play if the price is right. Fast green. Some ponds and creeks in the way that you have to navigate.
Course Under Repair But Still Playable
Good course, fairly easy, not a place you loose a lot of balls. They are doing something to the back ( and a few holes have mounds of dirt built up. No biggie but they can come in to play where befor the areas were flat. All-in-all I like this course for a relaxing round that is not that challenging.
The course is in good shape, greens fast.
The front nine time was great, no hold up. The 10th and 11th hole took 45 min. We told a maintience worker on the 10th and he said he would radio the marshall. The marshall showed up on the 12th and told us he would take cafe of the foursome 2 ahead of us that was causing the problem. The marshall should have been on the course and doing his job properly.
good shape
I have played this course frequently in the past 6 months and yesterday it was in the best shape i have seen in that time. The green were not fantastic, but they were okay. The fairways were great in the middle, a little rough on the fringes and overall the course was dry. Decent day for me (92), great round for my partner(78).
good bang for the buck
Nothing special, but it's a quality course and in good shape. One hole (11th) is currently being redone, so its just a pitching wedge par 3 now. I really enjoy their regular par 3's though because they're long and require long irons. Overall, a fun course for a cheap price.
Good conditions, Northern Cal (+) Penisula = Certainly good value in a flat plain trees, gd views& bends,gd mix of grass.
Have played here thur four seasonsal conditions over 5 years, its confortable to play with easy to find mishits ball, mix of par 3,4,5 with dispersment over 18 holes which bring a good game play to a 15-18 handicapper , including walking or riding approxpriate year round. For an in between city course along a major HWY 101, near the major SFO airport, ample parking being safe, and better than descent club house food and view, its a play me course with better than normal pace.
Great muni course
First of all played this course in January and for the winter time the course was in great shape. Amazed the bunkers and greens were in that great of shape. The greens ran true and bunkers had no issues as compared to most bunkers in the winter have pits and valleys of hardpan. I recommend this course as the staff is very attentive. Only con is the front nine plays by a busy highway 101 however back nine your away from it but you pretty much ignore it
Expensive muni
Poplar is expensive for what it is and plays a bit slow. It's a pretty flat course, not overly challenging, but the greens are actually nice and quick. In a bind I'd play here, but you get more bang for your buck elsewhere in the Bay.
Terrible Course Management
Pace of Play problem. It took 2hrs and 45 minutes to complete 9 holes. The course is overbooked and tee times not spaced out correctly.
Great for us locals
My home course. Learned to play golf here so I'm "tribal" and support the only course convenient to my home. Despite the economy, the course is maintained. I wish the course would offer special rates to active service military. It's the least we can do for our troops.
Some of the staff tends to be surly. The big exception is the lady in the proshop. Always friendly and helpful. The guys need to smile a lot more to their customers.
Great course to play!
Poplar Creek was a comfortable course with wide open, forgiving fairways, well maintained. Fast greens. Very nice Secretariat.
open and great for novice
This place has a wide open fairway type feel. It is not very long, great for a novice. It is very hard to lose a ball if there is not a hazard involved. Some of the par fours are drivable. It is a little bit slow paced when packed but overall fairly moderate.
This is a great course for all skill levels.
The course has four sets of tees that provide different levels of players a fun challenge to their skills. The fairways and greens are always in great shape and the bunkers are some of the best in the bay area. The pro shop is nicely stocked and the staff are always very friendly and accommodating. They also have a great bar and restaurant for a nice meal or relaxing drink after your round. A snack bar is conveniently situated between nines. I lost my GPS at this course and three weeks later the course still had my name and number and called me up so I could pick it up. I was so happy that they kept all my info on hand that long and remembered me. This is a truly fun course to play.
Great price, great location, easy course.
I like Poplar Creek and expect to play there again soon. The course is in good shape for how much play it gets. Not the most challenging course. But it's golf at a great price, and in a very accessible location.
Pace of play too slow on most days. No marhsalling to keep play moving.
The last time they airated the greens, the grounds keeper used 5/8" holes, not 1/4" holes and didn't put enough sand on them because they ran out. Do you think they would have gone out and bought some more sand. Not this course. The greens were really unplayable for over 2 months. Pace of play is ridiculously slow for this course. They need someone who will actually do some marshalling on the course instead of finding places to hide. It's short from both the black and gold tee boxes, but many of the men who play here should be playing from the reds.
Nice golf course
When I go golfing with Dad I like to go to Poplar Creek. The course is pretty wide open and that works well for him. The greens are sneaky fast (which I like!!!) . The pace of play can be slow at times. For some reason it seems like everyone wants to play from the tips. I am no one to tell anyone how to play....but if you don't have the game......COMMON MAN!!! I love golf just like the other guy...... But if we start pushing a 5 1/2 hour round!!!
when the wind comes in the course can be quite challenging
Convenient location right off the freeway right in the heart of the suburbs. Also has a very good restaurant.
OK Course, wide open
Average course, slow play and windiness could be issues in the way of enjoying the round
