Tarpon Woods Golf Club
About
Named after the creek that borders it, Tarpon Woods Golf Club is home to an abundance of wildlife including deer, alligators, turkeys, coyotes, and otters. The layout is not the Tampa Bay area's most challenging but it is one of the most scenic. Formerly Brooker Creek Golf Club, the club changed management and made several improvements to the bunkers, tee boxes, and greens in 2009. It has been a local favorite for more than 30 years. Overall the golf course is not particularly long but the front nine plays longer than the back. Each nine offers a unique set of challenges. The third hole is the longest and toughest with water that runs down the left side. There is also water on both sides of the approach to the green.

Wildlife was awesome on this course
This was my first time playing this course and I will definitely go back. The overall condition of this course was good. A little work is needed on a few tee boxes but nothing glaring.
Go out and have fun. When you make the turn enjoy some wings at Beef O Brady's.
Needs a lot of work
Entire course needs an overhaul. Lots of sand and pests. Stepped in a pike of red ants and was stung all over my legs. Greens are not green.
I’d give this a HALF star if I could. RUN AWAY!
I played this twice and gave it the benefit of the doubt and Oh Man…was I and horribly wrong.
So I’ve Never…… written a review on a course ever. This one was soooo bad that I felt like I should warn people. I got two separate “deals” on this course. This is someone’s badly managed backyard. Not a golf course. To call this a bad course is a an ins*1t to bad courses. This is a train wreck. Zeroooo tee boxes literally hitting from a sand pit every time. Out of 18 holes there was mayyybe 1 that had specs of grass on it to stand in and not slip. I have plenty of pictures to prove it.
The guy at the counter was said they sold to a developer and they want to use it for green space. Then he told another person it was bought by H**ters the restaurant
. Lol like why would Hoo+3rs want this joke of a “course”. The greens have grass on them but play like shag carpet. I was aiming 3 ft behind the hole on down hill puts and uphill double the distance and it was still stopping short. These play like a 3 on the stimp meter for sure maybe even a 2.
I felt cheated even PAYING $10 to play there. The fairways blend perfectly with the rough and the rough looks like a cow pasture. I’ve never lost so many balls in the fairway in my life. Patches if grass 9 inches tall EVERYWHERE in the field oh sorry the “””fairway”””.
It’s blatantly clear who ever owns this has zero interest in keeping it alive. Let these developers eat the holding costs with this one and DON’T give them a dime. Save your money and buy a Big Mac and you feel more satisfied than playing here.
Worst conditions I have ever seen
Pathetic…. there were no fairways. They were all just waste areas…. played here probably three or four years ago. You know it was rough around the edges then but there was still some grass. Tees were like a sand box…..they water greens a little. There was some grass there, but most of them had significant patches of dirt and dead grass….will never play there again….
Don't... Just NO
I've hit balls in a cow pasture that had more grass than the fairways tee boxes and greens at this I guess they call it a golf course.
Worst golf course I have ever played
This was the worst golf course I have ever played. 30 yrs of golf I have never played a club in worse shape.
Improved conditions
Much of the course especially tee boxes are in poor condition. Many fairways have a lot of sand instead of grass. The greens have improved greatly compared to a few months ago. It is the cheapest course around but still overpriced for the due to the overall course conditions.
Great Course
This course is a hidden Gem. The pace of play was great. Peaceful day out on the course!
Course improvement
The course is being worked on and it is coming back to a quite playable course the greens are slow but at least for the most part they are puttable (I have paid quite a bit more for non puttable greens) so the short of it is take advantage of this course before it CLOSES
Don’t do it!
It was a great course 20 years ago. I was thinking they should have given me my money back. They should let it go and be a forest preserve.
Tarpon Woods
The course was in horrible shape. Nothing but sand in the fairways. It cost $39.00, the greens had holes all over. The clubhouse smelled like mold and there were broking windows .
No Play
The course is in bad shape. Fairways are a mess, i would say 30 percent of the fairways were dirt. Greens are like shag carpet and the Tee Box should be renamed Batter Boxes! I hope the weather turns to give this place a chance.
Beach course?
Sand, sand and more as far as the eye can see. Kinda forget what a blade of grass looks like. The fairways are dirt and the bunkers (where sand should be) are weeds. I’d rather get hit in the shins with a scooter, be water boarded, or be chemically castrated.
The microwaved frozen hot dog is the highlight of the day, paired with a stale bun really made me wanna run home and tell my friends.
Please for the love of god sell this property asap and a new community or some strip malls.
Bless.
Shame
This course used to be one of the nicest places around.
The course has been neglected so badly. The tee boxes , fairways are practically all sand. Some greens were ok but only close to the pin, the fringe is pretty bad.
I think the owners let it go to crap on purpose. I believe their goal is to sell the property to delvopers.
Too bad they obousliusly are not interested in reviving it to it's better days.
I play there only because it's cheap.
Tarpon Woods Golf Course
My wife and I played Tarpon Woods for the first time in almost a year. It is still in very bad overall condition but you can see they are working on improvements. Many of the greens are much better than they were. A number of tee boxes had grass and were better but a lot of them are still in very bad shape. Pretty much all the fairways need a lot of work. The price was very reasonable. In my opinion if your looking for a course to work on your game Tarpon Woods is a good choice.
Horrible condition
First time going to this course, Tarpon Woods the greens are not taking care of the fairways are not taking care of. Everything is just un taken care of because of a hurricane, but then I end up finding out that I was playing with this couple husband and Wife the guy got a. A peanut butter and jelly crest added the soda machine. They have no snack bar or nothing for anyone to get any drinks or nothing. I’d be afraid to get stuff there. the practice putting greens were horrible and they’re the same as throughout the whole course. I have some photos of what you are hitting out of the fairways are not taken care of. There’s no maintenance. The bathrooms are horrible. Just everything about it was horrible. It’s not been taken care of since the hurricane.
