One of the biggest greens in Bay Area. I paced it off at 75 yards long!! Photo submitted by aliikane10 on 07/14/2017
The Bridges
This is the most unfair course I have ever played. The conditions of the course itself was very good. The greens were fair if you put the ball in the proper location. Good shots were punished due to crazy bounces. Of course bad shots were punished and rightfully so. I'm a 10.3 handicap and shot 96. My friend is a 3 and shot 88 so that tells you all you need to know about the difficulty of this course. I won't ever play this course again. As for the staff and the food, both were outstanding. Very friendly staff who treated everyone first class.
Decent challenge with many scoring opportunities
Great course that highly rewards good tee shots. 1/2 the holes present scoring opportunities with good tee-shots (5 par-4's are drive-able or nearly drive-able depending on the tees you play). On the other hand, you can loose a lot of strokes with errant shots as either side of pretty much every fairway is "junk". As an example I shot 2 over and went in the "junk" 3 times. Greens are in decent shape but run medium-slow in regards to speed. There's a fair amount of undulation on most every green so it's important to be on the right side of the hole whenever possible. There's little to no grain on the greens and short grass so putting runs as it looks and chipping through the fringe is simple. The grill closes at 4pm so don't plan on grabbing a burger if you finish after 4pm.
Not recommended.
There is no reason for anyone having a handicap higher than 8 to play this course. The fairways are narrow and winding and if your drive misses the fairway, you pull a new ball out of your bag. You won't find your ball off the fairway here and you sure won't hit out of it. Many of the blue tees also face the fairway at an angle exaggerating the difficulty.
The fairways and greens are in very nice condition but it isn't enough for me to recommend this course.
Challenging !!
Very challenging... each hole, each shot ... but if
you play smart, and don't try to do too much, you
can play very affective..and enjoy it... Very scenic, well
maintained, very fair... rewards good play, penalty for
mistakes...
Very Challenging Course.
The staff at The Bridges are very friendly. The course is beautiful but very challenging. This a long course so be ready to use your fairway woods and long irons. If you are an average player, you might want to consider buying an extra case of golf balls.
Good Course
Very nice golf course. Very challenging, course in great condition. Good golf course for the price.
Difficult course, some blind Tee shots, great fairways, greens slower than they look. Carts only.
Played with 2 beginners, and 1 member. 1 beginner could only play 2 holes before just riding in cart the rest of the day, other beginner went thru over 2 dozen golf balls. The Member had an off day and quit after 9 holes (lost 5 balls). Bring your "A" game to this course and don't be afraid to play up a Tee box untill you have played it a few times... Lots of 100 yard (plus) carry from the Tee boxs. A few blind Tee shots. Elevation changes all over. Lots of risk/reward shots. Great course. And a little pricey still.
Challenging- Johnny Miller design
Had a great time with my friend. Afternoon tee time $37 with a cart, lost some balls(bring at least a dozen with you), but if you keep it straight you will be ok. From the whites, you dont have to be long, but be precise. Beautiful setting, lots of wildlife( Wild turkeys, rabbits, quails, etc.) You will either love it or hate it....I will go back.
Pace of play was slowest I have ever encountered, 3:10 to play front nine
Tough course ,great setting ,very difficult .Players should be cautioned strongly on what tees to play . Group in front were novices and chose to play blue tees. We waited on every shot. Slowest round of golf I have ever played. Staff was apologetic ,and marshall did try to speed up play but to no avail. Drove 190 miles round trip to play. Slow play would be only reason I would not come back
I dont know why I went
I am not a fan, I played this course 2 times years ago and swore I would avoid it in the future. The choice was San Ramon or The Bridges, what choice. As you walk off the second green you look up the valley and the layout is not bad, but you have fairway, cart path and gunch. The outlying vegetation must be endangered, the playable area seems to shrink due to the lack of trimming of said vegetation. The first par 3, you cant see the flag from the tee because the large growth that has gone untouched. I wont comment on the greens, early spring come aeration. Never again.
Unless your a medium to low handicap, you should play elsewhere
I always have mixed reactions playing The Bridges. I Played 4/23/2013 for probably the 15th time and I always amazed on how pretty and hard it is. Johnny Miller should be penalized 15 yards for unsportsman like conduct.
Narrow driving lanes, long carries and penal rough where you're unlikely to find errand shots make for a potentially rough day if you didn't bring your 'A' game. If you're a 12+ index, I wouldn't break out the new sleeve of Pro Vs.
All of that said, it is still a gorgeous course and a good (not necessarily fair) test .
Such a beautiful course!
The only issue was they are replacing bunkers and changing old bunkers to fairway. The course was beautiful, but there was a lot of construction right now. When construction is complete the course will be even nicer.
Tough, narrow course, especially with aerated greens.
Greens were plugged but course provided good challenges off the tee. Enjoyed my afternoon there.
Proactive changes happening to an already good course
Bridges is in the middle of a massive bunkering and grounds
improvement program. It didn't get in the way, but you can see it will make an already challenging course even better.
They have an excellent range (mats) with plenty of targets.
The proshop and restaurant and general grounds maintenance are all country club level. There is potential danger on most holes, but if you can keep it in play, you'll have a great experience.
Challenging golf course.
The Bridges is a very challenging golf course. You have to think your way around the course and plan your shots very carefully. Off the fairway is usually in deep trouble. The greens are very fast with plenty of undulations. The location and scenery are great. Overall, a great day of golf. It will take a few rounds to get familiar with the layout.
this used to be one of the top courses in Northern Calif. They are going thru changes
The course needs work. All the bunkers are being replaced.
The greens are not as prestigous as before.Overpriced for this course.
A fun course to play with lots of variety.
The Bridges is a fun course to play with fairways that have lots of variety. You need to think your way around the course.
this is a tough course
course was in good shape in middle of bunker remodel but did not effect round of golf course was in fine shape
challenging!
Very challenging course. Can be frustrating due to narrow fairways and losing a lot of balls. Has forced carrys that require lay ups or long drives. Greens are challenginf with lots of breaks. Be prepared for higher than normal scores.
