Set up to score
Greens were the best I’ve seen since the snow has melted. This course is set up for you to score. The wind was the biggest obstacle. Challenging my group to play golf… not golf swing. I highly recommend Atkins golf club. Midwestern hospitality meets very very playable course that sets you up to reward defense in heavy wind and penalize unnecessary heroics for those golfers that haven’t quite learned this lesson yet. Leverage an app where you can see the course layout. And pick your spots. Have fun I sure did.
Atkins Golf
Outstanding golf course in the heart of the Illini Nation!
The layout is challenging from 1-18, but with the right tee selection you can play to your handicap. Bunkers are manageable, greens are consistent and the is the same condition as the course. Water hazards are manageable if you don't try and overpower the holes.
The best days are when the University of Illinois men's and ladies team are on the course - its fun to watch them play/practice!
A gem of a D1 Course
I cannot understand how this facility flies under the radar as some of the best. First course I've played in Illinois, and one of the best, hope the others are just like it. Greens, quick but not unplayable, fairways a few remnants of aeration at that time, just a great course. A turn house that is frequently passed, all good
Atkins Golf Club Review
A well maintained course with good challenge and friendly staff. The course is in a pristine condition. I will definitely recommend this Club to other golfers.
Rain storm delay
Tried to play on a rainy Saturday. Storms had the course closed for a couple hours. Staff were very friendly and accommodating through the rain delay. Grabbed lunch in the Oskee pub at the course. Great food and service while we waited for the weather and watched the Open.
Once the weather cleared, staff allowed us out promptly. Considering the rain, course was in pretty good shape. Very little standing water.
Great course, nice tee options, worthy of U of I team course
Nice course that was once a private country club. 5 sets of tee options to match your ability level. Sand in the bunker is very course, like pool filter sand. You need to hit it harder to get the ball out of the bunker around the greens. No beverage cart but you do have option to purchase drinks and snack on the course via a shack/restroom combo. Nice GPS electric golf carts. Only negative would be the pace of play but understandable since course was packed.
Great golf course UIUC
Beautiful golf course> somewhat challenging as the layout is a bit difficult. bunkers are kept pristine with nice soft white sand. Greens are true and well kept. Rough area is not very deep but still challenging.
Best public course in champaign- Urbans
Great course. You can find cheaper rates on golf now. Pricey on weekends, but you get what you pay for. Food in club house is really good
Awesome conditions
Best conditioned public course in area.Sand traps were the best I’ve seen in central Illinois. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming.
Playing at the Atkins Golf Course a real treat
Everything about the Atkins Golf Course was a really good golf experience for central Illinois. From check in to the starter to playing time was a great joy. I will definitely play here again as the ten minutes to get there and the golf pass hot deal price is a big plus!
Phenomenal Golf Experience
Enjoyed a great round during the Labor Day Weekend. Course looks superb. Views were spectacular. Carts are tip top. Staff was super friendly.
