The new atkins
The course
is hard as ever, staying in fairways is important, the sand is probably the best I have played in a long time, the staff was very friendly and I would recommend playing here
Immaculate
I was able to play at my own pace as a single on a beautiful Sunday morning. The course was perfect. Staff were all friendly. Really nothing bad to say.
A Quick Review of the Property
I couldn’t play my round bc I couldn’t get there in time, which I was super bummed about as I’m not local to the area. I did come late and use their facilities.
Beautiful grass tees on the range, good chipping and putting area, and excellent clubhouse. Not a bad word to say. Course looked gorgeous, can’t wait to play someday. I was left very impressed.
Awesome
Course was in great shape considering so early in season. This was our first time here.
Layout is challenging, but fair. Rough definitely penalized you if you missed fairway.
Bunkers were well maintained.
We will play here again! Looking forward to seeing how this plays in season.
Awesome course
I love the layout and condition of this course. Very fair yet challenging. Ball rolls nicely on the greens and are faster than most, which is fine with me. Staff is friendly, facilities are outstanding. Absolutely zero complaints. Will definitely return. I live in Bloomington-Normal where we have several very nice muni courses and I prefer this course. Plus, there's a great brewery just down the road, which I suggest visiting after a round of golf.
Great Course / Still New
The course is in great condition. The only potential issue is the greens are still very hard since the course is new. I found I had to aim a little shorter with my clubs as there is a greater tendency for the ball to bounce on the green surface. This will become better with time. The course is in a very nice location, and there are many tee options, so golfers of all skill levels can play. I will definitely come back to the course next year!
Worth a long driving from Chicago to play it
Five star condition. However, illuminate lots of bunker, for easy public player. Add distance for college team young players
#1 white sand quality bunker
First time I've played this course since it switched over from Stone Creek. I enjoyed the changes in course layout, and quality dams in the bunkers. I got a great deal using golf now, and definitely plan to return!
Great Course
We travelled an hour and a half to play the course and it was worth the trip. Course is in great condition and the weather was perfect. Staff was friendly and we stayed for dinner at Homegrown in the clubhouse. Part of the University of Illinois, so if you are an alum, it is a must play!
gem in urbana
Country club conditions at municipal prices. Must play if in the area!
The New Atkins Golf Club
The upgrade in maintenance practices and the renovated greens and bunkers is significant. The course is basically the same layout as the original Stone Creek but with added back tees, strategic bunkering and some narrowing of landing areas for College Golfers while maintaining playability for average players. The firmer greens and surrounds are a great. The bunkers are in the best condition south of I80.
Good championship course. 7500 yards from the tips is a great test for any plus handicap. Sand and greens are perfect
