Bear Creek Golf Club
About
Monroe's Bear Creek Golf Club is situated in the heart of Walton County. It's less than an hour from Atlanta, making it a conveniently close getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. The course originally opened in 1990 but in 2008 it changed ownership and underwent a major renovation that elevated its conditions to rival that of any of the area's best golf courses. The bunkers were rebuilt and re-sanded and the fairways were re-conditioned. Bear Creek G.C. has always been known for its excellent greens, which have a reputation for being some of the state's finest putting surfaces. The layout measures 6,585 yards from the back tees, which may seem short but there are some ups and downs throughout that will make it feel much longer.

Terrible staff and ran by fraternity kids
Terrible experience at this golf club. We were told to leave because it was "closing hours," even though we always left when we wanted to without issues before. The employees were blatantly racist towards our group and singled us out while other groups ahead of us were still playing and not told to leave. To top it off, we were charged with trespassing even though we were in the process of leaving. This place is a disgrace. Avoid it if you value fairness and decency.
I know why we don’t play here more.
Probably the best shape we have seen the course. Sad it started with horrible treatment in the clubhouse. We had a gift certificate from the toys for tots tourney we won for $50. Don’t have an expiration date so we asked if we could use it towards one of our rounds. The guy at the counter said he didn’t know what to do with it cause there was no number on it. And accused us of forging it or something with Bear Creeks leader head. Then apparently the owners wife walked up and he showed her and she just said no way we take this. I know course need money but we were just trying to use something we won at the course that did not have an expiration date. The attitude was jus lt horrible. We used to play here all the time and were treated well. I guess they done need our play. Very sad, we played there when it first opened and had a trailer for a clubhouse. As a business owner you would think it would be best to nice and customer friendly. We were ok if the answer was hey sorry guys but this is from last year and we can’t accept it. But to be harassed for trying to cash in a charity golf outing certificate just is not right. Course will be a nice neighborhood in a couple years with that service.
As expected
The course he seen some improvements over the years but still needs improvement on a few holes.
It's a golf course....
Some of tees are actually hard to find, we teed off at one hike and someone told us the tees were around the corner, and hole we had to ask someone how to get to the tees. One hole is like a 60 yard hole, we didn't even bother playing it. Stopped by the clubhouse for a snack and a drink after front 8 and the clubhouse was closed...lots of driving around a neighborhood though. Probably won't play there again.
New Course Changes Beginning to Take Shape
Course was in good condition overall other than a few spots here and there, and greens are always very smooth and quite fast. Some of the tee boxes that had new grass in process recently are back in play again, so was nice to have 2-3 of them in much better condition than prior few rounds here. Discovered upon arriving at #18 tee that there is a completely new tee box not only for that hole but also for Hole #2, which is now being changed from par 4 to par 5 with a challenging long carry on the tee shot from white & black tees. Overall enjoyed my round and staff is extremely friendly, a few parts of course still in flux as the layout changes continue to take place.
Somewhhat disappointed
I used to play this course several years ago, and it was pretty much as I remembered it.
The one change in the course that I absolutely hated was they really ruined a good par 4 on the back nine. to add a driving range. the hole is now a 90 yard par three where you have to tee off from cement / AstroTurf tee boxes.
Great course! Was in fantastic shape and challenging yet fun. I will be back!
Bear creek
Greens were in great shape. Fairways had a lot of work going on and very hard. A few tee boxes needed some attention, but overall a great day on the course.
Disappointing
Poor layout. Confusing.
Fairways skinned. No GPS or hole preview
Some construction in process.
Trash trash trash
This course uses to be pretty nice when I played there last… 15 years ago. The tee boxes, fairways, greens, cart path, etc now are all in disarray and in horrible condition. They’re charging $70 a round when it should be $20. Save yourself the $$ and disappointment and play elsewhere. This course is trash.
First Time, Not the Last
I look forward to playing this course again. I like the layout, and the greens were not hard to read.
