About
Monroe's Bear Creek Golf Club is situated in the heart of Walton County. It's less than an hour from Atlanta, making it a conveniently close getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. The course originally opened in 1990 but in 2008 it changed ownership and underwent a major renovation that elevated its conditions to rival that of any of the area's best golf courses. The bunkers were rebuilt and re-sanded and the fairways were re-conditioned. Bear Creek G.C. has always been known for its excellent greens, which have a reputation for being some of the state's finest putting surfaces. The layout measures 6,585 yards from the back tees, which may seem short but there are some ups and downs throughout that will make it feel much longer.

Water
The only problem we had there were no water coolers on the course and it was very hot had to wait until the ninth hole to get something to drink
Nice Course......Except
No water or cart girl on the course. If not providing water on the course I'm sure you could find someone who would like to earn some money selling drinks out of a cooler if a standard drink cart isn't available. Saturday morning, packed course and hot. Course was in very good shape, staff was extremely friendly.
A True Hidden Gem
Based on previous reviews and the price, me and a few friends make the drive from Atlanta to try out this course. From the moment we pulled into the parking lot, we knew this round was going to be unique. We were met at our car with both carts delivered by a very friendly marshal. The clubhouse was nice and the excellent customer service continued. We teed off on time and marshals worked hard to keep the pace on this very hot day. The course was in good shape and was laid out just like i prefer (no two holes are the same). We played the whites and the course played average difficulty, but there was quite a bit of course knowledge required to play it well. As the temperatures soared, the marshals saw that we were all getting a bit burned out and actually brought us ice water from the club house. As you have read the are working on safely securing the water on the course from local kids. Long story short, this was a fun course at a great value with very friendly staff. We'll be coming back.

Greens much improved
The greens were much improved since I was here last. Still large patches of clover in fairways, otherwise played very well.
So close to being really nice
Greens are in great shape, but were in need of being cut.... like the rest of the course. We’ve had a good bit of rain lately but you have to be able to cut the grass in adverse conditions if you’re going to run a golf course and let people play. This course is a little elbow grease away from being worth every bit of $45-$55. No water jugs on the course. I’ve heard that is from vandalism but a $5 lock could fix that pretty dang good easily. Last complaint, there was a 5 some on the course and another group that played their second 18 and jumped right in front of us before teeing off.
Great course
I try to play this course on Thursdays because it’s $28 all you can play. I usually play 18 holes as practice, then play another 18 all for $28. The pace of play was great, the greens are getting faster and the fairways are getting better. I enjoy playing here!!! Staff is always welcoming.
Golf Now not welcome
Played the course many times but will not play this course again. The owner has an obvious dislike for Golf Now bookings and has displayed borderline rude behavior the last several times I have used Golf Now tee times. Too many other good golf courses to play and not have to deal with the attitude.
Just ok
I play this course a few times a year, and if the greens are as they often are fast and perfect, I tolerate the fairways lack of grass. Today the greens were the poorest I've seen them since they were burnt out a few years ago. They were uneven and contain many weeds. I will continue to play as I like the layout, but I will be waiting a while to see if they can get the greens back into their usual pristine condition.

Great layout
The greens are not in the best shape they could be in. Layout is nice but weeds on the greens take away from the enjoyment of the course.
Good but challenging
Good course, didn’t like the lack of signage or lack of direction, had to play the course many times to know where the holes go

I have been playing this course for a few years, off and on. They have really gotten the greens to a next level.

This was a great course to play very challenging the pace of play was great and the staff is awesome. I will be coming back to play here.
