Bear Creek Golf Club
About
Monroe's Bear Creek Golf Club is situated in the heart of Walton County. It's less than an hour from Atlanta, making it a conveniently close getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. The course originally opened in 1990 but in 2008 it changed ownership and underwent a major renovation that elevated its conditions to rival that of any of the area's best golf courses. The bunkers were rebuilt and re-sanded and the fairways were re-conditioned. Bear Creek G.C. has always been known for its excellent greens, which have a reputation for being some of the state's finest putting surfaces. The layout measures 6,585 yards from the back tees, which may seem short but there are some ups and downs throughout that will make it feel much longer.

No Upkeep
No water on entire course to drink, greens are beat up , directional signage was absent and no amenities for food. If you secure a Golfnow rate than go golf , if not it's too much$for what is there.
Good course for the money
The staff is very friendly and helpful. The course is overall in good shape. One issue that is bad in my opinion is they do not have a driving range to warm up on. The greens are a little firm but in good condition. The course has a couple of challenging holes and a few easy ones. It is a little tough to find your way around the first time or two that you play, because it winds it's way through the subdivision. With all that said, it's a course I would recommend to golfers of any skill level. I'm sure that I will play it again.
Great Course for Accurate Shots
This is a pretty good course. I'm a beginner, and it showed on this course. There are plenty of narrow fairways and opportunities to lay up with hazards for long drivers. I only wish they had a driving range to help warm up for the Par 5 Hole #1. They had just sanded the greens when I played so they were a bit unpredictable.
The greens are just about the only good thing about this course. The rest of the course is crabgrass infested. Could be a very nice course if a little money was invested in the maintenance of fairways and teeboxes. Would not pay full price to play....
Excellent Value
Greens are in great shape. My only putting problem was me. Good mix of wide-open holes and target golf. It was a fun outing.
Great layout
This is a well maintained golf course. It will challenge any level golfer. It's got everything - bunkers, hills, water and great scenery.
Ok for the price
It was our first time playing here. The layout and the greens were pretty good. The rough was mowed down so we were able to find our balls easily. I would have rated this course much higher if it weren't for the crab grass on the fairways and the rough. They were everywhere. At times I felt like I was there to help pull up the weeds!
I have played at much better maintained courses in Monroe for the same price or sometimes less. I may try it again in the future but may be not until next season. Give the superintendent time to get it competitive with the other near by courses.
Great course
Had a great round could only play nine. Got rained out on the back. Also enjoy playing this course. Very challenging
Fair
Bear Creek is what it is an average course. The greens are usually its best feature as they are clean and fast. Tee boxes are not great, fairways have spots and crab grass, and sand traps need sand. We started out behind an extremely slow group and since this course has no marshals we were stuck till they let us play thru at seven. In the end the round was 4 3/4 hours due to the slow start. No beverage carts, no coolers allowed, yet no coolers built into the carts. This course used to be a budget course due to its lack of amenities and course condition. Now their rates rival better courses in the area but since we had a golfnow credit on a hot deal we played the course. I would not have payed the $45-$40 weekend morning rate for this course. Sorry, I do like the layout, should be better for the rates charged.
GreT course
I only got to play nine. It rained me out on the back nine. But this is a great course great layout. Always love playing the course. It will make you ready thing.
Golf Course
Gave the course a average because it was too much grass laying on the ground during the early morning round. The grass was stick to the bottom of the shoes making them slippery. Seems like they waited to late to cut fairways. Also the tee boxes were not cut.
