Monroe's Bear Creek Golf Club is situated in the heart of Walton County. It's less than an hour from Atlanta, making it a conveniently close getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. The course originally opened in 1990 but in 2008 it changed ownership and underwent a major renovation that elevated its conditions to rival that of any of the area's best golf courses. The bunkers were rebuilt and re-sanded and the fairways were re-conditioned. Bear Creek G.C. has always been known for its excellent greens, which have a reputation for being some of the state's finest putting surfaces. The layout measures 6,585 yards from the back tees, which may seem short but there are some ups and downs throughout that will make it feel much longer.

Too Expensive

Greens and tee boxes were hard as concrete with tons of dead spots. Cart Path is destroyed and very rough ride all day. This was my first and last at this course. Not worth the money.

Renovations still underway

Pretty decent course that is still undergoing needed work. Cart paths need substantial repair. Course layout and conditions are generally good. The addition of the driving range was probably needed but appears to have caused some quirky layout changes like a sub 100 yard par 3 from artificial tees. Greens a little slow but decent. We had a 3PM Saturday tee time and there wasn't any slow play. I wouldn't pay $75+ for this course but it was fine for $50.

I will say that holes 4 and 13 are two of my least favorite golf holes on the planet.

Decent for a Summer Saturday morning

All the grass (tee boxes, fairways and greens) was in good shape. A few tee boxes were missing some markers. The cart path is terrible as has been documented earlier. The cart I used could have used a good scrubbing. I think it was SLIGHTLY overpriced, but with golf demand in the metro Atlanta area, I guess they charge what they can get away with. Finally, I think it is a shame they cut a hole down to a SHORT par 3 for a driving range.

I was once a member here. Some things have changed over the past 2/3 years (positive & negative). I think about coming back as a member l. Will see how the course conditions play out the next few times I play there.

League Play on Saturday

Why would you have a Golf league on Saturday we had a tee time at 1:30 it had at least four groups in front of us with no carts we didn’t tee off until 2:20 this has happened before on a Saturday about a year ago they don’t need to charge that price if we can’t play on time with no carts

Bear Creek June 2025

Hadn't been there in 2-3 years. Tee boxes and fairways were in great shape. Greens were recently aerated and sanded 2-3 weeks ago so give them another couple of weeks and they will also be very good. Some bunkers needed repair from the heavy amount of rain over the last month. The only real criticism is to fix the cart paths. Nearly every path is in disrepair with multiple areas having lengths 25-50 yards long of dodging potholes, roots, pools of water, broken concrete. Was disappointed they converted #16 from a par 4 to a 3 just to fit a hitting range area. I would have preferred to have played the par 4 instead of hitting off a mat to a green 80 yards away. Aside from that, it was a nice round. I'm sure I will be back sooner than later.

Not a good course

This was unfortunately one of the worst golf courses I had been to so far. Called a whole day before our tee time to make sure Finn scooters were available was told no problem at all. Get to this course this morning to check in and the big guy behind the counter looks at us all big eyed and starts talking badly about the scooters and says I don’t even know why people would ever us those. Then tries to upcharge us $60 more dollars to get the scooters so we didn’t. Which is on top of already paying over $100 for two this course is not a good enough course after playing it to be that much I feel like maybe $30 is more like it for the quality the ponds stink, cart path is extremely bad and the layout is really bad.

There wasn’t much drinking water on the course nor was there a cart person. I would advise to bring something to drink or but it at the course before playing. Cart paths are in rough shape and were some bare spots on the course. The greens had been aerated and are coming in good. The carts are a little to be desired but do the job. All and all a good value for the money

GOOD CHALLENGE - GOOD PRICE

While the cart paths are in need of much work, the course itself is in pretty good shape and very playable. The layout is a fair challenge, the fairways in good condition, the tee boxes in decent condition except for a couple, the traps all seemed to be in decent shape and the greens although aerated rolled true. Having played over 700 different courses worldwide, I would put this course at this time on par with 80% of the courses.

Nice Course -

Played on Memorial Day and was very pleased with the pace of play. I think maybe the predicted rain (which never showed up) kept some off the course. Enjoyable day.

This course is under repair

In all fairness the greens had just been punched and sanded. The fairway was nice. The cart path was brutal and the staff was friendly.
