Fairways of Canton Golf Club

I've played this course several times this year. The pace of play on the front nine is exactly right at 2 hours but the back nine is the killer. It usually starts slowing down around the 13th and comes to a halt on the 15th. It's so bad that I've literally had to leave without finishing my round the last two times because it was took so long.

Overall the course was in very good condition. Greens rolled well & overall most were in very good shape. The views were pretty overlooking the North GA mountains. Had some very interesting holes with dramatic elevation changes. Would definitely play again.

Last time I played here in the spring, the course was not in great condition. This time, after the heat of summer, the Bermuda grass as thickened and the Faiways and greens are perfect and the rough is almost too much (the ball sinks and disappears). It's a tough scenic challenging layout. A good test for the average golfer.

Good and difficult layout. A mix of mountain and valley. Very challenging for all levels. Fairways and greens in very good condition. Nice and friendly staff.

Fairways of Canton is a beautiful course that twists and winds its way through numerous neighborhoods and subdivisions. I don’t know if I have ever played a course that had more homes on it than this one and more were on the way. The course was in great shape and the finishing holes have some amazing views. My only criticism with this course is that some of the holes give you the feeling that they were built to fit around the subdivisions or they were simply running out of real estate to fit them in, holes 7, 13, and 14 quickly come to mind. Although don’t let that deter you from playing here, this course definitely has some fun and challenging holes, the view from the 17th green is almost worth the fare.

My fourth time playing... I'll play again!

Bring extra balls (lots of opportunities to lose them) and a hammer to get your tees into the ground.

Must get rid of the crab grass around the greens (lost several strokes trying to chip and put from the edges).

Greens need repair instead of piling on green sand and seed.

Even with these deficiencies STILL a good course to play.

We understand the weather being dry however there exist serious maintence problems. The cups haven't been cut in weeks and the dead grass on the rims has an effect on the ball. Many areas around the course have high weeds and fairways have dead spots.

The pace of play was way too slow until a ranger finally took charge of it we were on the 15th hole.

I have played this course many tines and for the money it has been a good value. HOWEVER....the course is in disrepair! This is a recent phenomenon. IF YOU HIT OFF OF THE FAIRWAY OR GREENS EVEN BY A FOOT YOU MIGHT NOT FIND YOUR BALL!!! The rough is not rough..it is a jungle. The ball sinks down in the grass so if you can find your ball you can barely see the top of it. The greens have not come back from aeration and fungus is beginning. bumpy bumpy bumpy! What a shame. I hate seeing good, well groomed courses like this fall in such poor condition. What up maintenance crew!!!!!!!!

Great round of golf for the money - a Wednesday. Lot's of new home construction in the area so heavy equipment and nail guns at work. Only real complaint is around the greens. It's like a rough! You can be 5 foot off the green and never see you ball in the thick bermuda. I'd play again for 10 but never weekend or normal rates. Thanks Golf Now!

Hole 3 is the the only one that gave me trouble.

The greens had been aerated and top dressed. The result was slower than normal greens and bumpy.

it was very hot and course was great. there was no drink person! crazy.

Overall, we had a good time. Even though this course is short by most standards, they make up for it by challenging you to make good shots. You really have to think about choosing the right club and where you want to land the ball. Hitting it in the fairway is crucial because the rough is thicker than most courses. I would have given the course a 5 but there were a few greens that were patchy and the tee boxes were so hard that it was tough to get a tee in the ground. We will be playing this course again. Now that we know the layout, I would like to try to take a few strokes off next time.

Fairly challenging course. Very hilly so make sure your calf muscle are up for the challenge. There is a par 5 on the back 9 that's ridiculously designed with a super narrow fairway, hazards on the right and a long sweeping curve. The 18th hole is long but wide open and down hill so your tee shot seems like it could go forever. It's a great hole. There were some spots on some of the greens that were in really bad shape and I was surprised to see them because the rest of the course was in good shape. The staff were very friendly and the Rangers kept the course flowing well and we're giving out popcicles and bottled water because it was a very hot day. Fun corse and great prices. I'll be back for sure.

Beautiful course and views. Overall in good condition, only complaint was the greens. They were impossible to control spin on approach shots because they were so firm.

About half of the greens had bald spots 3 to 5 feet in diameter and the rest of the surface on the greens had very sparse grass (alot of sand). The greens are very small and have ridiculous amount of slope for their size. The fairways are not much better. There are 4 or 5 doglegs that have fairways aprox. 30 yards wide with blind tee shots. This would not be much to complain about, except if you miss even by a couple of yards you will have lost a ball. Pace of play was slow with no marshals. We had 2 players and had to wait on a foursome the whole day. On top of that, when we came off of 9 a foursome had jumped in front of us on 10. This place has no starter and no marshals on the course. Also, this is not a walking course since it is spread out over a housing development with long cart rides between holes. Noisy too because of the housing construction that is going on. I wouldn't recommend this course to anyone.

The course is easy but the greens are fast. Stay below the hole on most shots and you will be ok. Fairways are small and good shots are a award. Course not long but walking the back nine is a challenge. A few holes you can see the flag. Seven is a blind shot from the tee box

Pass on this course for the price, they have lost the greens already, all burnt up. Once they lower the price to reflect the terrible greens, it would be worth it.

The greens were dry, brown and water lacking! The entire course needed a good mowing and needed water! It appears that maintenance must not be a priority and water must be at a premium. I realize I only paid $26.25 on golfnow for this tee time so I shouldn't have expected too much. I thought that it would be a little better than a cow/goat pasture!

Great course that will test all your clubs.
