Great Course, Challenging Greens!
This course offer majestic views of the North Georgia Mountains, Kennesaw Mountain and Sweat Mountain. From tee to green, the course is very well maintained and the staff is personable. Most greens are two and three tiered. The 15 and 18 holes offer some thrills. Priced in the low to mid $40 for 18 with a cart on weekends. Great deal, fun course!
Great place to play
Every hole as a strategy. Follow their course tour info. You need to be good with every part of game to win this course. I travel all the way to canton, just for this course. Only wish is my review should not increase the $$$. Hole 18, 9, 2, 3 my favorite. Fast green, well maintained bunker, well maintained greens. I don't see any patch any where.
Should Have Brought My Mower
Having never played her before, you never know what to expect. Knew something had to be up when I arrived and the parking lot was basically empty. Fairly short course at just over 6500 yards from the back tees. Played the back tees, and shot 78, but could have been better. The multi-tiered greens cost me three shots by being on the wrong level. Not really knowing adjustments for elevation was my downfall. You CANNOT be above the hole in certain locations. The HUGE negative was the condition of the fairways. Not sure why they are called Fairways of Canton since they didn't have any. Basically had flyer lies from every fairway as they looked like they hadn't been mowed in a couple of weeks. There was no real distinction between the fairways and the rough. Funny layout too with some very long holes combined with some very short holes. I actually prefer fast greens, which they were, and the multi-tiers are fine too when you get to know a course and know it plays. But not cutting fairways in the middle of summer?
Difficult/fun course
Good course. Really challenging. The only issue we had was the pro shop assigned myself and another single each our own cart. We met at the starter and got paired up with another 2 some. At the 10th hole a marshall came up and took one of our carts because it was course policy that we can't have our own cart. Well, why did the pro shop assign us each one and the starter let us go? At that point, you bite the bullet and let us finish our round the way we started. You don't mess up twice and then come and correct it.
Pretty good
Have driven past this place a bunch heading to Callahan. It's a bit tricked up, especially the multi tiered greens. Course was in pretty good shape, the greens were slick and fast, fairways were cut fairly tight most of the way around. Plays pretty short. Pace was crazy slow, especially on the back 9. There was a ranger out and about but was nowhere to be found when I ran into very slow 4 somes on the back 9 who would not allow me to play through.
Cow pastures of Canton
That should be its name. It looks like the fairways have not been cut in a year. On the phone they told me the fairways were "thick". The truth is that their fairways look like US Open rough and they are flat out lazy and/or cutting cost by having pitiful maintenance. $27 set on fire, that's what "hot deal" means at this place. I was happy whenever my ball went in a fairway bunker.
Greens razor thin and way slicker than they should be especially given some of the crazy multi-tiered surfaces they have. The only saving grace was that they roll true. Good luck sticking an iron shot from the U.S. Open rough on super slick multi-tiered greens. Send when I say multi-tier, it is borderline funhouse ridiculous on some of them, especially with their pins placed within a foot of the ridges on some holes.
No water on the course either and no beverage cart. Bring your own (despite the rules against it) or leave dehydrated.
Good value at hot rate deal
Great value if you get a hot rate. Staff was not very friendly but course was challenging and in ok shape.
Challenging course w/ excellent fairways and greens
This course is not for the beginner golfer but the greens and fairways are well maintained. The fairways are tight and hazards are everywhere so you can expect a challenging day. Call the clubhouse before booking your tee time. If you are playing behind a tournament play will be slowed down significantly. Other than that if you are looking for a challenge come here and you will find it.
Greens are fast
Great track. The greens are excellent. The fairways are hard and fast.
Mt. American Links
This is a unique style course I have not run into before. It's really a links style, but up, down and around the N. GA Mountains. The greens r multi-tiered, firm, and fast, but protected by moguls and depressions
The best holes are the opening 1 & 10, and the closing holes 17 & 18. These are the ones that will bring me back
Good time
Quite a picturesque course for a good bargain. Def worth it.
Nice Course
This was my first time playing this course and I'm very impressed. The views was excellent. You are playing in the foot hills so you get a lot of elevation changes. Me and my partner was having so much fun we played another 18. The greens was rolling true. The fairways had grass. Also the food was very good. I will be adding this course to my list of must play golf courses.
Fairways of Canton
The course played very tight and greens had two and three tiers. The degree of difficulty was high. The course was not cut and the rough areas were very rough. I lost balls that were only a few feet off the fairway.
The course was packed and the pace was very slow. There were no cart service vehicles around the course. There were no bathrooms on the course. There were very few trash cans or water coolers available. If you stopped to get a bite to eat you were pushed out to return to play.
I will not return to the course. I would not recommend the course to anyone.
March
Good day conditions pretty good for early in the season
Most improved course in the area!
had been over a year since I last played the fairways...what a difference a year makes! I always felt the course had great bones, but was in need of some TLC from a course maintenance and upkeep standpoint. The work the city of Canton has done since they took it over has greatly improved the playability and the visual appeal of the course. cutting down the overgrowth, opening up some of the fairways off the tees to give more landing options, etc.Keep up the good work guys! Although it has meant more houses bordering the course it was nice to see the community around it come to life again, too. Fast greens, but they rolled true. I played in winter conditions, and will do so again, but cannot wait to play again when the course greens up and grows in this the spring!
Fast Greens
Course in good shape. Greens EXTREMELY fast but excellent. Interesting mix of holes and nice views. Great Hot Deal price. Must leave approach shots below the pin.
Great course.
I have played here 3 times over this past summer. It's a great course with a very nice layout. Lots of elevation will challenge your club selection. Greens are in great shape, but very fast.
Super fun course!
I was a little hesitant with the area it was located, but right when I turned into the fairways community I new it was going to be a great day of golf. I ended up playing with a foursome and 3 were members and one worked there and they were all very welcoming and made the round a blast. Beautiful mountain views, fantastic fairways and fast, well kept greens made it a definite play again course. Highly recommend this course.
Greens are awesome and challenging
Greens are rolling great so keep it below the hole.
Good Course
Greens were in great shape. Fairways were ok. I shot a 78 so I enjoyed my experience. Regular rates are a little high but a hot deal is def worth it.
