The course will be beautiful in the spring
Enjoyed the course. Hadn't played since October so we could have enjoyed anywhere I guess. I think it will be really nice when the weather perks up. We will play again.
Challenge for any skill level
The course is not long but it will bring out the best skills of any player. The several tier greens with the dwarf Bermuda greens were fast. Bring your A game!!
Not bad shape for middle of December
The elevation changes make it fairly difficult. Pace of play wasn't bad. Great scenic views. Can't wait to play it when it actually warms up.
Greens were very good for the late fall
Nice experience once we started. There was a weather delay thanks to frost that set play back 2 hours. There were no carts when our tee time arrived which was frustrating and delayed things quite a bit. The staff handled things well under the circumstances and we were able to occupy our time with the chipping area and putting green. They also comped us some balls to practice on the driving range. Keep the ball in play or you'll lose it!
THE GREENS ARE IN GREAT SHAPE!
Very accommodating staff on the buisiest day of the year. course usually plays in 4 hours on week-ends. Kind of narrow which makes it challenging. If you hit a shot in the rough, while looking for your ball you are likley to find 2 others!
A FUN EXPERIENCE
This is a great mountain golf course, with a layout similar to Lake Arrowhead in many ways. It is quite challenging, and has very fast Bermuda greens. The fairways and greens are well kept. I recommend Fairways of Canton.
Very fun and challenging course
This course has a fun, but challenging layout requiring some excellent shotmaking. Beautiful North Georgia setting with some excellent mountain views. Course is well maintained and the multi=level greens make your round interesting and frustrating at the same time. Has one of the most beautiful finishing holes that I have seen and and I have played hundreds of courses over the years.
this course now has lots of grass now and plays harder than it use to
They said golf now double booked my 1:40 tee time and moved me to 2:00 . We did not make all 18 due to darkness.
Worth the drive.
I play here twice a month. The drive is about one and a half hours. It's worth every mile. Elevation changes or big dog legs on almost every hole. Fast and true breaking the greens as good as any in the State. The bar and restaurant are pleasing, the view from the dining/lounge is outstanding.
If you can get a tee time, go.
Much better than last time
Course was much better than the last time I played there. Fairways were firm and rolled well, no wet spots (and this time there was actually grass on the tee boxes and in the fairway), rough was fair but not overly punishing. Course is very narrow in parts but fair, greens were very firm (never left a ball mark despite the high angle of my approaches) and putted very fairly. Multi tiered greens are the norm here making placement of approach shots very important. Only real complaint was that the tee boxes were very hard and difficult to place tees in the ground. My group often jokes that we should have brought a hammer with us...
Great Course
My first time playing this course was a very enjoyable one. Loved the layout of the course and the beautiful views were amazing .The greens were a perfect speed. There are a few very challenging holes but there are also some good birdie chance holes. I will definitely play there again.
Lush, rolling landscape
A beautiful setting, and the course is in great condition.
The last hole is spectacular.
Very good conditions
Very challenging. I played the tees just in front of the "tips". Shot placement a must on several holes. But there were some holes that were not as demanding. Tee boxes, fairways and greens in very good shape. Bermuda greens were pretty quick. Somewhere between 9 1/2 to maybe 10 1/2.
Friendly staff, great 19th hole outside, challenging
This course has some gorgeous holes and views--and a good variety, with elevated tees and uphill approach shots. The greens proved challenging for me, rolled OK. Accurate driving is a must as a lot of the fairways are fairly narrow. Turf is firm, requiring precise ball contact. Some holes will be more enjoyable the 2nd or 3rd time around due to blind or partially blind shots.
I will be back for another shot at eagle on the 18th--beautiful hole that plays downhill to a green bordering a lake, plays short. A well- placed drive leaves a mid-iron or hybrid, but trouble left, and right makes the hole longer.
Not for everyone
I played with my wife who is a high handicap. The fairways are narrow and if you are off them even a little the grass/weeds are thick and deep. Several of the greens have a "putt putt" feel with sever drop offs between tiers. Staff is super nice and helpful
great features can't wait to go back
Excellent course will return this weekend and will encourage my group to visit as well. Excellent pristine course in a picturesque location
Tough with Great Views
Stayed at Soleil/Laurel Canyon and played a complimentary round on Fairways. The lovely clubhouse sits on a hill overlooking the 9th &18th greens and the adjoining pond. The practice facilities include driving range, putting and chipping area. There is a golf school there with qualified instructors as well. The pro shop has plenty of merchandise to pick from and the staff was very helpful to our group. We had dinner at the restaurant with great service, reasonably priced fare, great libations and good selections. The first and 10th holes play side by side and are great starting holes to lift your confidence if you keep it in the short grass. Fairways were lush and greens superb. There are a lot of challenging holes and you might need a second round to know when to go for it off the tee and times to play safe. The course rolls through the hills north of Canton and there are places you just want to pause and take it all in before smashing a club. If you an average golfer like me, you might want "to play it forward' on some of the holes to insure you can find your ball. Most of the rough was right off the fairway with tall grass and or forest area to contend with. We did enjoy the challenge and the beauty of the views while playing here. Go Play!
Course needs fairway work
The course has a lot of growth in rough areas, is very hilly and needs work in the fairways. Three shots that landed in the fairways rolled up next to weeds; the weeds were 4 to 6 inches high. The greens were in good condition for the most part.
