Red Bridge Golf and Country Club
About
Red Bridge Golf & Country Club in Locust is routed through stands of mature trees that give the course a peacefully secluded feel. The layout wanders across gently rolling hills, providing a variety of elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. There is a stream that runs throughout the golf course, coming into play on a few holes. The course is seemingly long at 7,100 yards from the back tees but it's more forgiving than it appears, which means players of all skill levels can enjoy the golf course. The design relied heavily on the natural features of the landscape, allowing the course to blend seamlessly into the natural surroundings while also shaping natural hazards. There are also strategically placed bunkers throughout Red Bridge that complement rather than overtake the natural challenges.

Great course for the money!
Red Bridge is a golfing gem, just outside of town. The course is maintained very well, and the staff work to keep a reasonable pace of play.
The course is a mixture of long par fours, and some reachable par fives. The front nine is comprised of 3 par 4's, 3 par 3's, and 3 par 5's. The back nine is 5,2, and 2 like most courses.
If you live in the area, I definitely suggest taking the short drive out to Red Bridge. You won't regret it.
Amazing course!
Greens roll true. Beautiful tee boxes, very well manicured! Rough is tough but fairways are challenging!
Worth the Drive. A fantastic layout both challenging and rewarding if you play smart
New to the area with only a half dozen or so rounds played, this is my new number one course. Not only is this course a visual treat, it challenges you to use every club in your bag. It does play long, even from the white tees. On a couple of holes what I thought were well hit drives were actually just enough to stay out of the hazards fronting them and the 18th hole plays to over 618 yards! Long and straight are essential here, though most holes are plenty wide for bail outs. The greens are surprisingly quick, even with all of the rain we've had and very firm. I was bombing the greens with my wedges and barely left a mark. The sand traps are strategically placed and actually have soft, playable sand in them, great for blasting out of, not gravelly like other courses. Don't be put off by the small, spartan club house and again, like I always harp on, lack of a starter, this course is a must play!
The GNATS almost carried my group away!!
Its hard to write negative things about such a beautiful, well designed, challenging golf course, but there are def. a few things that stand out. First let me say that each hole was well defined from proper mowing, the greens were near perfect rolling true, pins and tee locations were set up nice and fair, and with as much rain that has fallen the course was fairly dry in most areas. I guess due to the rain and vast amount of water hazards the biggest downfall has to be the GNAT evasion! I have worked on golf courses my whole life and played way too may, and have never seen anything like this!! It was really bad, and nobody who worked there seemed to care and chose not to inform us. The cart girl was def. rude when we told her of our issue. The only relief from the gnats was when you were riding on the cart. Every group we talked to had the same complaints. Pace of play was real bad and Im pretty sure it was due to the gnats. The two guys we were playing with checked out after nine due to the gnats, The cart path only could have been lifted and pace of play would have sped up and gave everybody relief from the gnats. The whole concept of golf is focus and it was down right impossible to do so with a giant swarm of gnats beating you down every time you went to approach your ball to take a shot. Shoot...the spider that had built a web in the corner of our cart had a feast by the time we were done. I would love to play this course again. I think it is one of the best ive played and that says alot. It would be nice to see some better management practices implemented and maybe some IPM...integrated pest management as well. Overall beautiful course, but you couldn't give me a free round as long as the gnats are still around. Its wonder they didnt carry some people away. Until then stay away from red bridge. The weather and outdoor playing conditions where near perfect with a golf weather index of 8, and I had my mind set on shooting a good round, relaxing, and was super excited about playing here, until i stepped on the 1st tee, and it was down hill from there. I was sick to my stomach with disgust, and went home really bummed out...even had bad dreams of gnats eating me alive!!! Not cool.
Take notes the first time you play
Well-maintained but challenging course. Numerous blind shots, so you should play with someone who's familiar with the course or take mental notes the first time you play. If you hit the ball off-line, it can be difficult to find outside the rough. Pace of play was very good despite the challenging layout. Good value.
Pretty good course for any ability level player
Enjoy playing at Red Bridge. Course has hard holes as well as easy holes that all of my foursome can enjoy.
Has a lot of potential
The course itself is nice. Everything just off the course is a bit unkept which hurts the overall look of the course. Some really unique holes. I think I hit every club in my bag with this lay out. Liked that feature. Not a cookie cutter course. Can't wait to play it again.
Long from tips!
Red Bridge is a real nice track. Starting with the staff, my experience there was great. I was running late and they were super laid back about it. I got to the first tee, my partner wanted to play from the tips and I obliged. It is long from back there, it cost me many strokes by not getting over trouble and such. The course was in great shape and it is cut out of the woods. Beautiful property worth the drive to Locust.
You will use all clubs in your bag.
This is the best course in the Charlotte area in terms of value and outstanding course conditions.
Wet but fun!
LOTS of rain this week but still playable. First play at this course and quite surprised by slope/elevation changes. Staff very friendly, greens in good shape along with fairways. Moderate pace of play. Course knowledge here helps a lot with the potential to go low due to the many 5s ans 3s if you know where to put the ball. Will play again for sure. Worth $30-$40 with online booking but I think the $50 standard weekend fee is a bit much. Only con would be that it was 90 degrees and humid as heck and we saw the cart girl only twice (second time was on 18). She was very sweet though and had decent prices.
great shape
This course is in great shape,It has really come out in the last month. Greens and fairways were excellent
Well worth the drive!!!!
I played this course in mid May. The staff was great, the course challenging and well kept. I wish the course was closer to Charlotte but it's worth the drive to play this gem. Ask about the special refreshments between the 1st green and 2nd tee box......pure heaven.
Challenging course
This course is tough, must have knowledge of course or use GPS to set up approach shots. Almost unwalkable, there is about a 1/2 mile drive in between a couple holes.
If you miss the fairway or miss on the wrong side of the fairway you are dead
I played this course on 5/30/2013 and unfortunately the greens were sliced. This didnt affect my review but I wish Red Bridge and GolfNow had better communication to announce the course maintenance.
Pace of play was very slow, not because of groups in front of us (there were no groups in front of us the whole time), but because if you miss the fairway or sometimes hit the fairway on the wrong side it will bounce or roll into high grass.
The fringe had thick sprigs of grass which is where the course needed the most attention.
Things I liked about the course were that there were reachable par-5's , bunkers in good shape, fun layout on some holes and the most fun thing about the course was the front 9 with three par-3's and three par-5's.
Thanks to GolfNow and a Hot Deal, my group and I were able to play this course for $18 per person.
Course will challenge your game!
Convenient! Only about 2 miles from home. Challenging!
Woods to thick
Not a tight course, The only thing I did not like the woods off the fairway were to thick. I feel like if you hit ball in edge of woods you should be able to find ball
Great value
Condition... Greens are fast with no patches. Fairways are clean and tee boxes level.
Difficulty... Challenging for moderate level. Great course defense. You have to love the elevated greens. A few blind shots keep it interesting.
Staff... Pleasant and attentive.
Overall the course value is about 60 and cost mid 30s. Great time!!!
Challenging
A good Challenging golf course, very good condition.
Lots of water hazards
If you don't like water, don't play here. There are many opportunities for your ball to find a creek or pond or lake. If you can hit the ball far enough to get over these obstacles, then play away. Course is in good condition.
The course has a good layout and presents some good challenges.
Overall average course with some challenging holes. Pace of play was slow though not too crowded. We waited 5-7 minutes before teeing off at every tee box.
