Red Bridge Golf and Country Club
About
Red Bridge Golf & Country Club in Locust is routed through stands of mature trees that give the course a peacefully secluded feel. The layout wanders across gently rolling hills, providing a variety of elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. There is a stream that runs throughout the golf course, coming into play on a few holes. The course is seemingly long at 7,100 yards from the back tees but it's more forgiving than it appears, which means players of all skill levels can enjoy the golf course. The design relied heavily on the natural features of the landscape, allowing the course to blend seamlessly into the natural surroundings while also shaping natural hazards. There are also strategically placed bunkers throughout Red Bridge that complement rather than overtake the natural challenges.

nice course
It was really wet and even though it was cart path only, it was a great day of golf. Very challenging.
Not bad, and close to Charlotte
Generally, not a bad course... conditions of the fairways were good for February. Greens were a little bumpy (and slow) as others have noted.
Excellent course
Course was very challenging, with a good variety of elevation changes and different looking holes. One negative, was the condition of the greens. They seemed to have been aerated previously, but not rolled. Very bumpy and unpredictable and made the experience less appealing. Also, the pace of play was not very good. (4:40)
Generally good layout.
This course is in a community that was designed to be private and upscale. Not enough property sold and the course was opened to the public. Temporary clubhouse is small and spartan. Small snack bar. Gravel parking lot. Course maintained well.
The course has 5-3's, 8-4 's and 5-5's. Rolling terrain. My only complaint is a 590 yard par 5 from the senior (gold) tees for a finishing hole. Instead of feeling "When can I come back?"; I left feeling " Why did I come.".
Beautiful Course But..........
We booked two online with Golfnow - the only way to play golf in my opinion. This is the first time that I actually felt like I was being punished for paying only $19. When we got there we were told that we would be with two other golfers - that's fine. A quote from the front desk staff member "All of our GolfNow customers need to be here and ready to go so that we can get them worked in as quick as possible. Since you booked it on Golfnow we need you here on time" (Two minutes late after we got checked in). Is there an exception for the customers who pay full price? I also felt like there was a nicer way to say it. We went to the tee box and waited for the other two golfers and they were no where in sight. I would say they were the ones two holes ahead of us. We went ahead and teed off and we never saw anybody behind us the entire day. We finished in 3 1/2 hours. What we would like to say to Red Bridge is that were sorry that we only paid $19, we shouldn't be treated differently. What the staff should realize is that Golfnow is a great marketing tool for the course and I've recommended many golfers to this course because of it. As far as the course goes, I personally think the course was well maintained especially for it being the winter. Not many golfers will like putting on the winter greens. They have a brillo pad type feel. Similair to a thick indoor carpet - Of course their summer greens are much better. You will probably notice a lot of golfers wearing bluejeans. We counted six. The dress code should be enforced - its the way golf should be played. The winery off hole one is very unique and their Wine Slushies are very good. Its a very picturesque course when you drive up. The actual Red Bridge is beautiful. Overall - Course good - Customer service - not so good at times. To me that's a big deal.
One complaint that's not really a complaint!
We played a foursome on jan 19 starting at 11am. Course was in superb shape just like always. My only complaint and its not really a bad thing on their part... It was just so crowded, I guess the course is so great that people come from all around to play it giving the value!! I hate to be the guy that says.. You've got to much business but man it was jam packed out there that u were waiting for the group ahead of you while your being rushed by the group behind you!! Maybe they should try spacing their tee times out just a few more minutes.. Had 9 carts with guys waiting to tee off at number 1 all within 3 mins of us getting up to the box... Besides over populated I have no complaints... Great course friendly and helpful staff and good value... One last thing, I recommend buying the 2 dollar course guide at the clubhouse... It is very specific hole by hole and really helped!!! Hit em straight guys!!
Great course
Great price, along with Red Bridge is a great course
Winter play value if taken on "Golf Now" @ < $25 for 18 w/cart.
Tough course - tough greens and pin placements are the norm. #18 is really a nightmare for duffers.
Varying degrees of difficulty & shot selection
The layout of the course has no parallel fairways but what is there is ample for all levels of players. The greens are undulating and require precise ball placement to have a reasonable attempt for an under par score. The condition of the course for this time of year was excellent and the greens are unlike any I've played anywhere locally. The course requires the ability to work the ball both directions if you are attempting to get close to the hole and the pin placements could be very difficult based on slope and undulation. This was my first and won't be my last visit to Red Bridge. The two staff members present were pleasant to deal with and I had read reviews of others which indicated otherwise. Kudos to the management for having nice young personnel employed as they reresent the future of golf course management in a good way. TVL
Best greens around
This course keeps me coming back week after week. Guaranteed good time!!!
Fun layout, challenging holes
Greens were in great shape, and the course was not too slow. Not a bad value for anyone in Charlotte willing to make a little drive out to Locust.
Excellent course for cost.
Nice, challenging course for the average golfer. Some tough pin placements for a Sunday. Fairways and greens were in great shape especially considering the dry weather in the area. A couple of the holes are down right difficult. I would not take a beginner here. Well worth the drive out to Locust for the average golfer.
Was dissapointed from the first hole...
We have played ar RB four or five times nice course and the flow moves along. However on the 23rd of Novemeber we had a tee time for 200 PM we didnt get started until almost 240. I realize the course over booked due to the Friday hoilday but we only got 9 holes in due to all the waiting. When we got to the turn the clubhouse was empty knowone to even share my concerns with.I dont know at this point if we will play there again or if I would reccomend it.
Course and especially greens were in great shape.
The course itself is great in design with challenging holes. The varied tee boxes make the course enjoyable for all level of players.
Great shape and great pricing!
Worth the drive if you're in Charlotte. Greens are in great shape and role true. Had a great round here last week.
Awsome Course and pretty wide open.
The course looks fantastic!! It took a bit longer than an average round only because of the very convinent wine vineyard after the first hole. Peach Wine slushis were great as well. The overall play wassnt too difficult but had some very challenging features, especially number 18 Whooooa Its a monster. I look forward to playing at Red Bridge again.
Great Layout
Even though it is about a 40 min drive from uptown Charlotte, it is worth it every time. It is a great place to escape the city and has a perfect balance between nature and golf.
Well maintained with excellent greens
First time at Red Bridge. The course was very well maintained with really well rolling greens. The staff was all very accommodating.
It is definately a course where familiarity is a plus. Ball placement is a must. The course has 5 par 5s and 5 par 3s. The only drawback to the course is that the par 5s from the white tees are way too long for the average player.
Outstanding course
This course is in perfect shape and the green are so good you have to read the break just right because it will take it. Stafff is great and this course is my favorite in the area.
Midweek round, good pace of play, excellent condition
This was my first visit to Red Bridge in 2012, and I was pleasantly surprised by the subtle yet effective changes they have made. The greens were among the best I have played anywhere this summer. Save your energy - hole number 18 is a beast!
