The Groves Golf Course
About
Editor's Note: The course is temporarily closed.
Designed by Arthur Hills, the Groves Golf Course may be a "short" course but it's still a challenge. It's one of three courses operated by Meadows Country Club. With a layout that sprawls across more than 50 acres, the par-63 layout feels more like a championship par-72 course. The layout is comprised of nine par 4s, eight par 3s, and one par 5. The course rewards accuracy and good shot placement, meaning it's not strength that matters but being able to strategize. The seventh hole is a memorable par 3 that appears simple enough thanks to a massive and seemingly inviting green, but the problem isn't hitting the green but getting your shot on the same level as the pin. There is a 5-foot slope that runs through the green, the severity of which is matched only by some of the greens at Augusta National.

Nice for a practice round
The course has a lot of variety of holes, especially for seniors. Greens roll well and true.
Tough layout for an executive course
Always a pleasure to play here. Greens were very fast.
Great Greens, Excellent Staff
Played late morning mid-week round using GolfNow’s ‘Hot Deal’ pricing. Found the course to be (overall) in decent shape and the greens to be in superb condition. Staff was friendly and accommodating (especially Sue and Susan in clubhouse and Gary (starter)). Look forward to coming back soon and can recommend this course.
The Groves
Great course. Short and challenging. The greens were very fun to putt on.
A Challenging Executive Course
The Groves is a challenging executive course. 17 of 18 holes have water penalty areas. Course has 1 par 5 and 9 par 4s with 8 par 3s. All 18 greens are crowned with steep side slopes and double tiered. Greens are average sized but their cowned shape makes them effectively smaller. The fairways and most of the tees are in good shape. Greens are average speed.. My only criticism of the course is that many of chipping and pitching areas around the crowned greens have many marginal to poor lies so if you miss a green with your approach you are likely to struggle finding a good lie as compared to private local courses that are better manicured around the greens.. Overall the Groves is a fun challenging executive course with pin placements that often requirie extreme precision shot making to score well.
A bit less than meh
When the day starts by finding out that the driving range is for members only, so you can't warm up. That's just not a great start. From there things were meh. Course conditions were fine but goodness thisn is a short course. On the upside staff was friendly and the carts were nice. I wouldn't go back.
As a beginner
Great course conditions. Lady at clubhouse was great, old dudes were rude and seemed put out if you asked a question.
Great Day at Groves
I have played this course many times. It is usually in very good condition given the often dry spells, hurricanes, etc. in Florida. While it is not a long or very difficult course, the greens are quite challenging (not just my opinion) and tend to make what look like "easy" par deceptively difficult.
Just OK
This is an executive course, Par 66 so only one par 5 and many par 3s. Even the par 4s are short, some are drivable. Greens were punched so not rolling true. Clubhouse is under construction so not open but will be nice when done. Price was right but not a big challenge.
