The Groves Golf Course
About
Editor's Note: The course is temporarily closed.
Designed by Arthur Hills, the Groves Golf Course may be a "short" course but it's still a challenge. It's one of three courses operated by Meadows Country Club. With a layout that sprawls across more than 50 acres, the par-63 layout feels more like a championship par-72 course. The layout is comprised of nine par 4s, eight par 3s, and one par 5. The course rewards accuracy and good shot placement, meaning it's not strength that matters but being able to strategize. The seventh hole is a memorable par 3 that appears simple enough thanks to a massive and seemingly inviting green, but the problem isn't hitting the green but getting your shot on the same level as the pin. There is a 5-foot slope that runs through the green, the severity of which is matched only by some of the greens at Augusta National.

Horrible course
Not worth the 40 dollars I paid. Definitely a 10 dollar round course
Great value, tricky holes. Very good for short game.
Greens were in great shape. This course is excellent for the short game.
I drove some of the greens on par 4.
Fun course
Wonderful greens
This course has some of the best greens around. They are large and run very true. Tee boxes needed some work and they are currently working on them. The staff here is just the best, from the rangers to the clubhouse attendants. I have played this course over 50 times the last 2 years and I still enjoy the challenge.
It is not a long course and great for a senior like myself.
It was a great course for a high handicap player. It was not as long as many others and allowed me to get to the green in regulation. All courses this year are dealing with dry conditions and some patching bare spots.
Excellent Greens
Friendly staff greets you upon arrival. Short course so leave your driver in the bag. Conditions were excellent, with the best greens I’ve played in months. Sand traps in excellent condition also. Some tee boxes are a mess, leaving you an uneven stance, but overall this course is worth the money. I highly recommend The Groves and look forward to returning.
Playing the Groves During the Off Season is Great
Fairways were in good shape. Greens are in excellent shape. Bunkers are good too. A number of tee areas are bare and need TLC (i.e. re-seeding or re-sodding).
Pace of play for 18 holes at 1130 am (as a single) was 2 hours on the nose which is excellent). Staff is friendly and courteous. A great value for such challenging & undulating greens. A gem of an executive course.
Play in the morning
I recommend playing the course in the morning as the greens dry out in the afternoon and are super fast.
Short game Challenge
Short course but challenging. Sharpen your short game or it will be a long day.
Challenging Golf Course
The pace of play was great. A foursome let me play through and played 18 in 2 hours flat. The greens were in excellent shape as usual. Green speeds are very quick and you had better stay below the flag on all 18! Due to a lack of rain this spring season, the course plays fast and hard unlike last year. Once the rain starts again the Bermuda should fill in nicely.. This is a fun challenging executive course (Par 65) layout that will challenge even the best players with treacherous, fast greens. Nice online deals can be found making for a great value.
Speed of Play Was Ok
Greens were in nice shape. Fast and rolled true. Some tee areas need some TLC. Three hour round for a difficult 18 hole xecutive is not too bad. Chipping areas are rather sparse around most greens, could be better. Sand traps are fine. DIffficult course to score low on when the winds are up. As the winter season ends pace of play is vastly improving.
I was a first time user of golf now. I booked late Thursday morning and thought based upon the time that it was for the next day instead of for 414. When I arrived on 4/15 I was told that it was the previous day so I could not play and I drove 45 minutes for Nothing and could not play. So my experience was horrible. I called and could not get a refund, so I am out $31. I probably will never use golf now again.
A good course in average condition
Many tee areas are devoid of grass & in poor condition. Greens are in very good condition & fast. Fairways & chipping areas are in fair to averagecondition since bermuda grass has not yet come in. Pace of play was very slow & painful with a waiting time on every hole.
Executive course alert!
Golf now needs to add “Executive” in the title of the course. Highlands and Groves were both available for hot deals tee times. I accidentally booked Groves in a rush to grab the tee time. Got to the course and was disappointed to say the least that i was playing an executive course. Highlands hot deal was no longer available. Only 3 holes where driver can be used. Play from the blues if you want a tee box that isn’t torn up. Course is in good condition other than tee boxes. Obviously I’m at fault for not seeing par 63 before i booked. If executive courses are your thing, it’s a good little course and the pace of play was good.
