The Groves Golf Course
About
Editor's Note: The course is temporarily closed.
Designed by Arthur Hills, the Groves Golf Course may be a "short" course but it's still a challenge. It's one of three courses operated by Meadows Country Club. With a layout that sprawls across more than 50 acres, the par-63 layout feels more like a championship par-72 course. The layout is comprised of nine par 4s, eight par 3s, and one par 5. The course rewards accuracy and good shot placement, meaning it's not strength that matters but being able to strategize. The seventh hole is a memorable par 3 that appears simple enough thanks to a massive and seemingly inviting green, but the problem isn't hitting the green but getting your shot on the same level as the pin. There is a 5-foot slope that runs through the green, the severity of which is matched only by some of the greens at Augusta National.

The game that wasn’t
Put us out on the back nine in the middle of a men’s league tournament resulting in our quitting after one hole. We would have been all day to play. They offered us the option of playing their other 18 holes if we played that back nine twice. We asked for and received our money back. Very disappointed with whole scenario. They should never have sent us out in the first place. Don’t know why we couldn’t have gone off the first hole. Maybe the men’s league had the whole course. Anyway it never should have happened.
Challenging Short Course
Always fun to play at The Groves! Makes you realize a short course can make you reflect on what clubs to use.
Early November Saturday at the Groves Course at the Meadows
Even though I had back-to-back birdie 2s on the back,
my wife still beat me. Fun day!
Nice course
Course was challenging and in great condition. The Groves is one of three courses on the property but is fairly remote from the clubhouse which was our only complaint--no restrooms or food/drinks at the turn. We'll play this course again but come better prepared.
Nice Saturday at the Meadows Groves Course!
I enjoy this course because it's just the right length for me. I actually had a couple back-to-back birdies on par threes on the back... but I still got beast by my wife! :-)
Great course and value
Great course to practice various shots in a friendly, slow paced environment. This course is always well maintained. If you are flexible with your tee time, you can have this course all to yourself!! Greens are deceivingly tricky.
The Groves
Very short course with lots of water. Not a great course, but for $25 and able to get around in under 3 hours, it’s nice. The greens were particularly good, in my opinion. Some nice undulations and fairly fast.
Great place to play
This course is even better this season than last. The tee boxes have been redone and and the greens are looking beautiful. Although this is a shorter course (only one par 5)it will still work most of your clubs. Number 7 green has everything in a green you could want and is beautiful. It’s large like most of their greens and has a two tiered layout. This course also has plenty of water and bunkers.
Fun course, great layout. Less than optimal conditions. Staff worse.
The course layout is stellar. Find short course very unique and Pace was great. Really enjoyed playing the course. It seems some of the greens grass is just totally dead. You just putt on sand. Also, I used a set of rental clubs. I would strongly advise to not play this course if you are using rental clubs. You will only be given 11 clubs. They will be beaten up and destroyed. I was given a stiff set but it was missing a driver. So they switched my set and put me in a regular shaft set without me know. Kind of ruined the experience for me. Paid $40 for the set. Instead of refunding I was just told by the gentleman “sorry about that“. I could also tell he was not happy about me being there on a golf now tee time. I paid $25 for the round, but anything more than that would have been a waste of money.
Amazing after Hurricane Ian
The course was cleaned up nicely. The greens were in excellent shape and fairly fast.
