The Groves Golf Course
About
Editor's Note: The course is temporarily closed.
Designed by Arthur Hills, the Groves Golf Course may be a "short" course but it's still a challenge. It's one of three courses operated by Meadows Country Club. With a layout that sprawls across more than 50 acres, the par-63 layout feels more like a championship par-72 course. The layout is comprised of nine par 4s, eight par 3s, and one par 5. The course rewards accuracy and good shot placement, meaning it's not strength that matters but being able to strategize. The seventh hole is a memorable par 3 that appears simple enough thanks to a massive and seemingly inviting green, but the problem isn't hitting the green but getting your shot on the same level as the pin. There is a 5-foot slope that runs through the green, the severity of which is matched only by some of the greens at Augusta National.

Grand Groves
First time I have played this course in 6 years…..it is in way better shape today! We will be back for sure.

I didn’t realize it was an executive course until I played it. I guess I should’ve done some more research
It was a fun course
Very Hilly and lotsw of water
It is a very hilly course and id full of high grasses off the fairways and so much water that half of your drives were in that water. Maybe the wind was a factor but I would never play that course again.
The Grove
Lots of improvements on the course since last year. Greens were in really good shape. New grass in fairways.
Great for old guys - or could be.
Challenging even at this length. Lots of water and sand. However, the course is becoming rather run down, Tee boxes are barren in several areas. The putting surface is burned off and ratty looking. It is often overcrowded and slow. Worst of all, to walk this very walkable course costs the same as to ride. This must put off many players like myself. Overall feeling in my group is that Groves is now overpriced and to be avoided...
The Groves
We play this course all the time. It is challenging, and always a great round of golf.
Groves Golf Course
We decided to try this course on a whim as we normally only play very local to our area. When we first entered we felt a little confused as to where to park, where to get the carts, where to pay, etc. After a few minutes we were greeted and told how it all works. We piad, purchased a few drinks and jumped on our cart. The staff told us that there were numerous courses there so in order to get to Hole 1 of Groves we needed to go behind the building mentioned and drive across the street. We did so and then saw some signs guiding us. We continued and saw some more signs and then some more signs. It literally took about 5 minutes to finally get to Hole 1. First 9 holes were nice, well maintained. When we finished the 9th hole we realized we were back to where we were in order to go to Hole 1. While hole 10 was just next to hole way going to opposite direction, we were discouraged to see that the "clubhouse" was nowhere to be found. We would have had to basically drive the carts back another 5 minutes or so to get to the clubhouse and then another 5 minutes to get back to Hole 10. Our biggest gripe came here. Who wants to drive 10 minutes just to get food or drink? When we finally completed Hole 18 and drive all the way back again to drop off the carts, we asked if they had a restaurant. The staff told us that it was across the street. We asked for further explanation as this course was already hard to understand and were told, "What dont you uderstand, we said it was across the street". We didnt want to make a bigger deal out of their attitude so we just accepted the answer and left. We got back in our car and then drove across the street into another poorly labeled parking lot and just found a parking spot. We walked for a few minutes, asked a few people and finally found the restaurant. We went inside, ordered a drink and then asked for a menu to order some food. We were told at 3:15pm on a Sunday that the kitchen was closed and there is no food. Not sure why it is called a restaurant when all you can do is order drinks. While the course was nice, the rest of the experience was not so pleasant. I thought maybe we were just overreacting but the couple that we were paired with made some comments as well very similary to our complaints. We will not be coming back to this course again.
Greens are perfect at the Groves
The greens were perfect. Fast and a true perfect roll. More than a few tees still need TLC with many bare spots. Fairway conditions have improved but remain generally average condition with the chipping areas around the greens just ok but could be better.. Course layout is superb with water to be found on all 18! A real test of course strategy & ball striking. Only found 1 bunker but it had plenty of sand. Pace of play was a little slow for my tastes but manageable. Only used the driver twice but this is still a fun and challenging test of golf. Fast double tiered greens will test anyone that goes beyond the hole! Highly recommend this 18 hole executive course.
Best greens around
Expensive for a par 65 short course. They pack people in so expect to wait on every single hole.
The tees are in terrible shape, but the greens are the best.
Staff are friendly and courteous.
Getting Better
Course is better than last year. Club house is coming along. I enjoyed the course. A little pricey for a par 64 course.
