The Groves Golf Course
About
Editor's Note: The course is temporarily closed.
Designed by Arthur Hills, the Groves Golf Course may be a "short" course but it's still a challenge. It's one of three courses operated by Meadows Country Club. With a layout that sprawls across more than 50 acres, the par-63 layout feels more like a championship par-72 course. The layout is comprised of nine par 4s, eight par 3s, and one par 5. The course rewards accuracy and good shot placement, meaning it's not strength that matters but being able to strategize. The seventh hole is a memorable par 3 that appears simple enough thanks to a massive and seemingly inviting green, but the problem isn't hitting the green but getting your shot on the same level as the pin. There is a 5-foot slope that runs through the green, the severity of which is matched only by some of the greens at Augusta National.

Goves
Tee boxes were eat up.
Greens were in great shape.
Fairways where in good shape
Played very short food if you want to work on your irons or short game. Leave the driver in you bag.
Needs some TLC …
It was a great day and the staff for checking in was amazing. Great pro shop & staff…
Was really disappointed we couldn’t warm up on the driving range( members only ) and the TBoxes need TLC big time… The greens were in GREAT SHAPE…..
Lots of wild life on the course too.
Snack bar closed when we were finished at 3:30 ?
Very Short / Not Well Kept
In Sarasota for the week and went to GolfNow to find a course. This option looked good online but not in person. The course is very short and not well kept at all. The only positive was the greens were in good shape, but tee boxes, fairways, etc not good.
Needs work
pace of play was way too slow. no beverage cart during my time on the course and only one water station for 18 holes.... a couple of the tee boxes were horrific shape
Good Course - Executive level
Fungus on greens, nice hole placement and water hazardsa abound including gators
Great Course if playing on lower rates
This course has a great play on lower rates. Slower play with older and less experienced players. I took my wife to play and she is a beginner. It is perfect for that.
Great course, lots of water and challenging holes
Loved the course, easy pace, good fairways, greens had some type of fungus so looked like in bad shape. Watch out for alligators. I saw a few in the ponds and don't try to retrieve your lost balls!
Lush greens; bald tees; quick 18
The redone greens are lush and well manicured (not fast though); for some reason my gps watch stopped working properly after the 8 hole and could not reset on the back nine; tee areas have little grass; dramatic slopes on certain greens;
Construction on course and signage make it hard to find your way to correct course/tee
Nice breezy Sunday round
Played in great weather in about 3.5 hours. Nice greens and fairways. We'll be back!
First class neglect
Good short course layout ruined by deliberate neglect and woeful course mismanagement. Tee boxes are a disgrace. It’s a pity as the layout is interesting but the lack of attention to maintaining the condition of the track speaks volumes to the total lack of respect The Meadows golf management have for the golfing public.
