The Groves Golf Course
About
Editor's Note: The course is temporarily closed.
Designed by Arthur Hills, the Groves Golf Course may be a "short" course but it's still a challenge. It's one of three courses operated by Meadows Country Club. With a layout that sprawls across more than 50 acres, the par-63 layout feels more like a championship par-72 course. The layout is comprised of nine par 4s, eight par 3s, and one par 5. The course rewards accuracy and good shot placement, meaning it's not strength that matters but being able to strategize. The seventh hole is a memorable par 3 that appears simple enough thanks to a massive and seemingly inviting green, but the problem isn't hitting the green but getting your shot on the same level as the pin. There is a 5-foot slope that runs through the green, the severity of which is matched only by some of the greens at Augusta National.

Good but short
It’s a good course but very short, many par 4’s could be long par 3’s.
It was fun to work on my short game.
lots of bare ground
This course could really be nice with an infusion of money and tallent. It looks like there is neither at work. It's a cute layout with opportunities for plenty of shot making but the superior weather and growing season of Florida has not helped the grass to grow. Most of the tee boxes are bare and plenty of the fairways are the same. The bunkers are well placed for shot demands but are not well maintained (too little sand-hard). The greens are better than the rest of the course and run very true even though they could be a little faster with rolling. I have played their sister course before and like this one better if it was better maintained. This course gets a lot of play in the winter months so it should be better prepared for winter golf.
The Groves
Great course not easy as you may think. Staff is wonderful
Worse Golf Course
Other than the greens we might as well as played on dirt. No or very spotty grass on tee boxes and throughout the fairways. Refreshments were non existent on the course.
Never Again
Other than the quality of the greens which i will give a 8, the rest of the course was a zero.
Dry
Course was not is good shape. Some tee boxes and areas of the fairway you couldn’t find any grass. Greens were recently redone and pretty decent. We were disappointed for the price.
Greens in good shape but slow. Tees and rough need grass. Enjoyable layout. Fortunate to have played with a couple that knew the course layout. Nice staff, Sue in the pro shop was very helpful. Will play again.
First Time Playing the Groves
The course is more like an executive course. Not what I would normally play.
Conditions
Played the Highlands course 2 days before. They seem to have put all their efforts into maintaining that course at the expense of the grove course. Even the tee boxes were left iunmaintained.
Super Fast Greens
At the.start I just want to say that I like the Groves a great deal. It is a challenging layout that requires precise landing area shot making.
The greens are all double-tiered so if you are on the wrong side of the hole it can be very challenging to 1-putt & they are so fast that they can be easily 3-putted! At this time of the year my only criticism is that tees on all 18 are in terriblle shape some with only dirt patches. The greenskeeper should consider re-sodding all 18 tees or at the very least moving the markers to other areas so they can recover..
Nice executive course
THis course is good for both the high and medium handicapper.with enough challenge to keep everyone interested. Greens were nice and relatively challenging with lots of tiers and slopes, unusual for an executive, and the layout was interesting. Fairways were pretty good, tee boxes were pretty sketchy but I guess that doesn't affect play. We moved right along even with the course completely full.
