Lake Tahoe Golf Course
About
Lake Tahoe Golf Course stretches across a grassy mountain meadow, surrounded by the High Sierras, just minutes from the South Shore of Lake Tahoe. Golfers can enjoy spectacular views of the mountains and the upper Truckee River. The golf course has a varied landscape of rocky mountains, native wetlands, and forested parkland.

Covid19 Cup Design
We’ve played other courses that have a better cup design. We prefer the ball to drop into the hole about 3-4 inches into a plastic disc so you know that you’ve made your putt. Don’t like the ball hitting the upside down cup system.
SLOW, CROWDED, BASIC NECESSITIES, ASKS FOR CHARITY DONATIONS
I've played this course several times. It is by far the slowest course I have ever played. The earliest it's taken to finish a round 5 1/2 hours. On several occasions we simply quit after spending 3 1/2 hours to complete 9 holes. I've discovered that this is typical with all of the courses managed by American Golf. The reason is that they space their tee times 8 minutes apart as compared to the normal 10 minute break. Although this means greater profits for American Golf, it creates chaos by putting way too many groups on the course. On top of this, they have someone collecting for charity on one of the holes that delays play even further. Who wants to deal with one more group asking for money, especially when you're trying to relax and enjoy yourself. Also, is it too expensive to place a couple of ball-washers on the course?? It's basically a nice course run by a corporation whose sole goal is to maximize profits at the expense of their customers. Spend a little money, lengthen the period between tee times and quit asking for a hand out at the tee box!!!
Pretty views
There can be some very slow players, like older women .you should not golf if you are in a hurry anyways! To some that’s no big deal! I say they should have a Marshall speeding up the slackers a little bit , or remind the slow ones to let the faster ones play threw! There are usually huge gaps between groups randomly! Just makes for a longer than needed game! So lots of complaining going on at times! And I’m a lefty and it’s not a lefty friendly course if you play from the golds like I do! With all that being said, I still recommend this course to anybody , I’ll always go play this course when I can ! I’m not local !
Nice layout , beautiful course
Real nice fairways & greens in good condition , beautiful scenery golf
No
course !!!
Be ready for a long day
Beautiful course but very slow pace. Took just over 5 hours to finish our round. Fairways were in decent shape but greens could have been better.
The course is average.
The course needs water jugs. It has none, It has only one ball washer on the whole course,
Great early round
Booked early nine due to other activities. Pro shop got us off early, round was great. Beautiful day, staff great, course amazing.
Would it kill you to have water and ball washers???
No water or ball washers to be found ANYWHERE on the course. It's bad enough that though all the snow's been gone now for 8 weeks, they've only repaired ONE of the badly-damaged greens. (And even that repair, on 16, has suffered because the new surface has completely dried out. That raging river cruising through the course doesn't suggest there's water for you to use?) Strange how the greens are all dry, dead, and mostly-bare ... but the bunkers are wet and heavy.
Summer's here, guys -- GET YOUR ACT IN GEAR!
Course Should Be Closed Until It Recovers From Harsh Winter
The course is essentially unplayable. The greens are horrific. Nice scenery. Could be fun to play if it were not in such terrible condition. They should wait until the course recovers to open it up for play.
Not playable
Course is in the worst shape I’ve ever scene. They took my money, but didn’t tell us that the course was unplayable. Worst greens I’ve ever played.
Beautiful scenery
Course has not recovered from a hard winter. Greens and tee boxes were newly arriated fairways were in places bald and muddy. But, it’s always beautiful.
Course in dreadful condition
I have been playing golf for 40 years and I have never left mid round because of the course conditions. It is in the worse condition of a golf course I have ever played. The people we played with said “what do you expect, it was recently under 8 feet of snow”.
The greens had large bare patches and there was no evidence of them being reseeded. The tees were very mixed from ok to poor. On the fairways there were also lots of poorly grassed areas so I just moved the ball.
Avoid until it has recovered.
Average muni condition, good bang for your buck
Nice layout, friendly staff, rough greens & fairways, (due to late snow) not enough on course drinking water , poor on course outhouse/ restroom situation , beautiful mountain backdrop and running creek water / bridges
Winter blues: 4 temporary greens
I hate giving this course three stars, because the layout is so cool and this place represents everything good about muni golf. It's a scenic, fun round that's affordable in an area where no other courses are.
But, with four temporary greens coming out of a hard winter, I just can't give it the love in the ratings it might deserve later in the year. When I first played the course several years ago, it had lost three fairways to a tough winter, so this issue is not new.
The holes that interact with the Truckee River are special. It's apparent that William Bell routed the holes to reveal and showcase the surrounding mountain peaks. It's a great walk, and good condition or bad, it's a place I'll recommend to anyone.
Staff Reception Offsets 4 Temporary Greens
From the pro shop staff, the starter, the ambassadors and the cart staff, everyone one exuding a positive and welcoming attitude. 4 temporary greens but a three hour round starting around noon on a perfect day. And the backdrop off the mountains. If you live or visit up here, why play anywhere else.
Last Day of Summer .. Started too Late
We got a reservation through GolfNow for 2:44 pm but arrived to find out there were no carts available. We went to the snack bar and bought a polish dog for $5.99 that was pretty mediocre. After that we loaded our Sunday bags into the cart and got paired up with another twosome. We tee’d off the Silver Tees as husband and wife who have rather high handicaps .. the other twosome played back on the black tees. The course is entirely flat and mostly wide but with a lot of trees, wetlands and protected areas. We thought it was an ok course, but after the turn we got really bunched up and since our game wasn’t up to par and the wait was too long as well as the September afternoon shadows we decided to quit at 13. Would try this course again .. on a discounted tee time but earlier in the day.
