Anderson Creek Golf Club
About
When Anderson Creek Golf Club first opened in 2001 it was immediately recognized as the "Best New Golf Course in North Carolina." The course was designed by 1997 PGA Championship winner Davis Love III, it was his first signature design in North Carolina. It has a traditional layout that epitomizes golf in the Carolina Sandhills. The layout features rolling emerald fairways lined with towering pines and undulating greens bordered by large roll-off areas, a tribute to the classic Donald Ross designs that are prevalent in the Sandhills. The challenging golf course has tricky doglegs and there are a variety of elevation changes throughout. Water comes into play on a few holes at Anderson Creek Golf Club, most memorably though on the par-3 fourth, which demands a carry over a large lake. Strategically placed bunkers also lurk along the greensides.

wonderfull
we played this great golf course on April 9/2014. we liked it so much we returned the next day, & the food was great. Very friendly .
tobacco road hidden gem
played ac while fairways were still dormant; would love to play course later in the season; greens were recently punched and had not fully recovered so putting was a challenge; please tell singles that they cannot play through, especially when the course is backed-up; otherwise the wife and I had a wonderful time.
Large deep bunkers
Greens had been punched a month ago but the growing conditions did not help them grow in. Tough putting as they were fast and undulating but did not roll true. Would be challenging when in good condition. Ladies in the group found the bunkers quite difficult . Quite a hilly course which was not enjoyed by all , I however loved the layout.
Great layout
This is a true golfer's course. Meaning, the layout is challenging and makes you think and make decisions. Lots of bunkered corners to tempt you to try and carry. Greens have plenty of undulations. Biggest disappointment was that we played it in the middle of March so all the bermuda was dormant and you were basically hitting off mud. Would have been much nicer if they had over seeded the fairways with rye. Also, the greens had been aerated and sanded. I would love to play this course in the prime season.
Great course
Even though there was a snow storm a week and a half ago and a day of heavy rain last week, this course was in very good shape...the greens were in awesome shape and you can tell that the staff takes great pride in giving you a good product...will definitely be playing again in the near future...
Great Course/Staff
Course layout is great--challenging but fair. Staff is outgoing, friendly, and helpful. Course was wet due to weather, but the greens were in great shape. Always a beautiful course to play!
Great conditions for late winter
Course was in great shape for this time of the year. Green were virtually flawless. Staff was friendly and very accommodating.
kit em straight
Not a course for the 'duffer.'. Keep it in the fairways and you're OK, spray the ball and you'll pay the price. Lots of sand and a little water. Enjoy!
Great Course To Play
A great course to play that offer you array of pin placement from being a blind pin shot, downhill pin shot or uphill.
Quick greens
The course will challenge even the best of golfers! It certainly will challenge your ability to read greens. You have to play some holes by running the ball up onto the putting surface, but good luck at getting it to stop. One of my favorite courses.
Great Course
Booked and the staff was extremely friendly. This is the second time I played here and I would go back in a heart beat.
Worth the effort to find: Anderson Creek Golf Club in Spring Lake, North Carolina
The temptation for golfers heading to Pinehurst is to race right from Raleigh-Durham International Airport to the Sandhills. I wisely veered a bit off course to play Anderson Creek Golf Club in Spring Lake.
Davis Love III's first design in North Carolina, which opened in 2001, didn't disappoint. Nestled inside a community of high-end homes roughly 40 miles east of Pinehurst, the 7,215-yard course wanders off on its own through the tall pines, rarely encroaching upon the real estate. It's challenging and fun from the 6,100 yard white tees and a real beast from the 6,700-yard blue tees. Changes in terrain create some cool vantage points for elevated tees and greens. Typical of the designs of that era, the greens are massive and tough to read with so many peaks and valleys.
My round was interrupted by the loud booms of nearby military operations at Fort Bragg, but they weren't too distracting. It's still a peaceful setting of forest and wetlands.
The Inn at Anderson Creek, just off the 18th fairway, offers furnished efficiency suites and an outdoor pool for stay and plays.
Very good course
Played as a single during the week. Not crowded at all. Course in good shape. Greens very true and in good shape. A good place to play if you like to play a fast round.
Top notch course at a great price
AC is a fantastic course. Tough from back two sets of tees (7200, 6700). Third tees also great (6200). Only problem is too many singles going out. Our group felt obligated to let 5 singles go through during our round. That's too many. Otherwise great track w great staff.
always in good condition. very challenging depending on tees
Always in good condition. One of two Davis Love courses in the area. (Preserve at Jordan Lake little more difficult but not as pristine.) Nice clubhouse, friendly staff, and above average range.
Fun to play, but the greens are tough.
This was my first time playing this course, so I didn`t know what to expect. What i found , was a very tough, but fun course to play. The course is in great shape, and the greens are fast and have a lot of slopes, so beware. I was a single, so it was nice to get paired up with a member, to get a little course knowledge. All in all, it was a very good experience. I will certainly come back again.
Nice layout, good conditions
Nice layout with interesting holes. Houses not too intrusive when playing. Course was in the best condition I've seen it in a few years. A little out of the way to get to, but worth it.
Overall nice layout and putting challenge.
Very demanding driving holes from back tees and greens are challenging to putt.
Fun Track.
The course will challenge you at all levels, and will have the opportunity to use all your clubs in your bag. Nice layout and well maintained course. Greens rolled really nice and hold true to the line but there are sloping greens with breaks. Enjoyed the course and will be back again.
Great course for mid hadycappers
Green had a few bare spots but did not interfere in putting. Fairways were in great shape. Tee were fine as well.
