Anderson Creek Golf Club
About
When Anderson Creek Golf Club first opened in 2001 it was immediately recognized as the "Best New Golf Course in North Carolina." The course was designed by 1997 PGA Championship winner Davis Love III, it was his first signature design in North Carolina. It has a traditional layout that epitomizes golf in the Carolina Sandhills. The layout features rolling emerald fairways lined with towering pines and undulating greens bordered by large roll-off areas, a tribute to the classic Donald Ross designs that are prevalent in the Sandhills. The challenging golf course has tricky doglegs and there are a variety of elevation changes throughout. Water comes into play on a few holes at Anderson Creek Golf Club, most memorably though on the par-3 fourth, which demands a carry over a large lake. Strategically placed bunkers also lurk along the greensides.

The par-3 fourth hole plays over water. Photo submitted by JasonDeeganGA on 12/20/2013
Unfortunately, a disappointing experience
I had been looking forward to playing this course for some time but it’s a long way from home. Finally booked a round and was pretty disappointed. Course must have been overbooked. The first three holes took over an hour to play. On the fourth hole, we encountered the ranger who told us the course was totally full. The next hole, the group ahead offered to let us play through. There was nobody ahead of them. We didn’t catch the group ahead until the turn. Tee boxes were more sand than grass. Fairways were good as were the greens, off the fairway was often devoid of grass. Lots of other better options out there.
Very Nice
This course never disappoints. The greens were in excellent shape and fast. The fairways are still dormant in spots but still enough to hit off.
Seasonal growth needed
The course will probably have good fairway grass and greens once the growing season kicks in. The course I experienced was not what I have encountered there in the past.
Anderson Creek Magic
Course was in great shape and the greens were rolling awesome. Course is a great test for intermediate and great golfers with rolling hills, elevation changes, and a good share of water and lots of sand traps. Forces the player into a lot of up-and-down golf.
Best course in area
Have a great experience, very friendly staff, course was in great shape fast play. Best course by far in the area.
Nice course but too slow
I should have known when i was told the first available tee time was 2:20pm it was going to be a slow day.
A great course well laid out, tough flag positions, but greens receiving balls hit from the fairway,
However, not before long frustration set in as every shot was delayed by waiting for the groups in front to move on.
Front nine took 2 hours 50 minutes!!!
Fortunately the back nine took less time but still over 5 hours.
No marshalls to be found anywhere, which was disappointing, as this course needs players to be forced to keep up with pace of play. No round should take more than 4 hours when everyone has a buggy!!
Love this Davis Love III Course
A wonderful course if you're looking for a slight challenge. A hidden gem not far from the cradle of American Golf but MUCH more affordable.

Winter in the south
I really enjoyed this course for winter golf it was in very good condition. Greens rolled true and the fairways were where firm. The layout of the course is challenging enough but you don’t have to be a scratch player to enjoy a round.
Thank you for visiting us at Anderson Creek Golf Club. We appreciate your 4-star rating and review. We hope you join us for another round soon.
Overly Firm Greens
Pins were placed in ridiculous locations for a recreational round of golf. Also, could not keep ball near hole due to the overly firm greens.
Great Round
Best value around. Course was in great shape for a Dec round. First time playing this track, enjoyed the layout, staff was great, fully loaded carts with GPS and even Bluetooth for tunes. Great variation in the tee boxes to accommodate all levels.Only downside, there was a twosome in front of us playing a practice (multiple shots from each locaton) would have been nice for the ranger to keep them moving. Overall definitely recommended
Excellent golf course/facility!
Terrific golf course and facility. Very friendly staff , well-stocked pro shop and bar. Truly loved the overall experience over the holiday!
Carts have electronic scoring gadget w/gps. Makes life easier.
From the sub-tips , it plays in the range of 6600y. Favors good distances off the tee. Undulating fairways but very well kept and free of leaves. Excellent test of golf, will require hitting every club in the bag. This is a beautiful golf course!
Thanks so much for the great review. We look forward to welcoming you back to our course soon. Thanks for choosing Anderson Creek Golf Club.
