Crescent Oaks Country Club
About
Located just north of Tampa in Tarpon Springs, Crescent Oaks Country Club sprawls across rolling hills dotted with sparkling lakes. The narrow course has a traditional layout that was carefully carved from dense woodlands, making it a challenging test. The lakes as well as a meandering creek come into play throughout the golf course. There are also a few strategically placed bunkers along the greensides. The par-5 10th is one of the most memorable holes with an elevated green and a ridge cutting across the middle. Par is considered a good score on this tricky hole. The golf course finishes with a par-4 dogleg left that features water along the entire left side of the fairway. The green is also protected by sand on the right and water on the opposite side.

Glad I Came Back
I didnt have a chance to play tjis course for the past 10 years. I caught a deal on tee off and thought what the heck. 10 years ago the course was good. Now its great, pretty much. Some junk in the fairways but otherwise in perfect shape. Greens roll fast but not super. Tee boxes all good. The place just looks a lot nicer than it was before. Super green all the way around. Highly recommend !!!!
Challenging Back 9
The course is very fun to play, while also being challenging enough to make it a difficult course. Greens were quick and in good shape. Favorite course so far in Florida, best for the money.
weekday afternoon round--hot as Hades. course in very good shape other than some tee boxes a little rough. Overall excellent.
A Gem
Condition of the course were impressive without the area getting any rain in weeks. The layout is nice, some difficult holes especially if you've never played it before. The only thing I hated was my twosome went off back 9 first and we never seen any other golfers, get to the turn and a two-some is in front of us and are slow, then after 3 holes from the fairway they pick up and drive back to the tee box and get behind us.
The staff was welcoming and happy to assist. A must play in the area, will be back for sure
Players were moving well
Nothing better as a single than playing 18 holes in 3.2 hours. Polite foursome let me play through. Another foursome likewise. Players on the greens were putting at same time, keeping things moving.
Course in fair condition. Warning, greens were aerated and sanded, at least 2 or 3 putts were close enough that without sandy surface would have gone in.
Balls that roll down to areas that used to have water in it are to be avoided. What looks like dirt is like quicksand. One of the boys playing in front of me tried to fetch a ball and got stuck in the mud. Lost his shoe and was covered in mud up to his waist!
Great experience
For the cost to play, this is top notch. Make sure to go their website and watch the YouTube videos.
One Great Afternoon !!
We had a really great time the courses in really nice shape as well. Played here last year and the fairways were a little barren and some spots and the greens were not that great but this year the courses in really nice shape fairways are lush greens rolled beautifully, and it was a fast pace of play. Will definitely be back through the summer!!
Punched Greens, No Communication????
Overall Crescent Oaks Country Club is a nice course, but was very surprised and unhappy that we weren't told by the club house or even the ranger that the greens were recently punched. We didn't realize this till we got to the first green, well 10th as everyone was starting from the back 9.
Aerated on Tuesday 5/21- Not disclosed at booking
Played here many times, and the course is a fine one.
However, was told upon paying (not on Teeoff when reserving), that the greens "are ok for having been aerated on Tuesday 5/21/24." Then, the starter said he had played yesterday and "automatic 2-putts" on greens. Many of the greens had the holes without sand. When I asked if they had disclosed aeration on GolfNow/Teeoff, the pro shop employee said, "I don't know." Well I do, they did not disclose this, and they should've so consumers have a choice. Disappointing.
Players were moving well
One of the issues in golf etiquette is that larger foursomes often don't understand that part of golf is moving and playing efficiently.
As a single player sometimes I am playing fast golf. What I really enjoyed about playing there last week was that I was always getting ready to hit my second shot with the foursome in front alway finishing on the green.
The one time I caught up with a foursome wasn't until the 18th hole! They let me play through.
It really is a pleasure to play on a golf course where players understand that even though they may be friends and playing socially, it is still important that they understand, that the idea of the game is to hit your ball and not smoke you cigars and socialize at the tee box. Just hit the dang ball.
I would give this a 5 star based just on having a great experience with golfers that understand how to move through the course.
There was only one complaint, they had aerated the greens and sanded over them so green speed wasn't correct. At least 4 or 5 putts heading straight into the hole were held up by the sand and perfs in the green.
Conditions a little rough
Greens are in good shape, the fairways are a little bare but not bad given the lack of rain. Tee boxes are not in good shape and they are crowned, hard to get a flat lie on many.
GOOD PLACE TO PLAY
Overall, not a bad track for the money. Conditions of the small greens were good and most fairways okay. Tee areas need work. If you get by the unimpressive and somewhat depressing first hole, course greatly improves. Back nine is much more enjoyable and more challenging than the front nine. No beverage cart or water on the course. Outdoor snack shack was closed as we made the turn at 2:30 on a Thursday, but was open before our round. Strange. Looks the course is trying to make improvements with new outdoor patio area by the pro shop. Range/practice area is terrible. Mats only and looks chewed up with some of the worst quality/shape range balls I have seen in a while. Putting green is fine and true to greens on the course.
