One OF MY FAVORITES
Escena is now one of my favorite courses. I live in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, so I play great courses like Sawgrass TPC Stadium. I've played Spanish Bay, Torrey Pines, PGA West, Indian Canyon, Desert Dunes, Palm Valley...but, Escena is special in may ways. Staff is terrific, to include starters. Pro Shop is great, restaurant is top-notch, course is fantastic. We played Championship tees (my LPGA daughter Christie Quinn, as well) - a great test - tough but very fair.
Nice course.
Nice course with wide fairways, large greens, and well protected greens. I've played several Palm Springs courses and this is the best one for the money. Great value
Beautiful
A beautiful course on a beautiful day - it couldn't have been better. The course is in great shape - the rough a little long after overseeding, but will soon be cut shorter.
Good everyday course
I play Escena quite a bit because they offer good prices on Golf Now and it is an enjoyable, straight forward course to play. They just started allowing carts back on the course after overseeing and that has helped the pace of play tremendously (last round was 5 1/2 hours when cart path only.)
It is one of the closest courses to downtown Palm Springs so it is convenient to those staying in town and the view of the mountains from the deck of the clubhouse is spectacular. I highly recommend the restaurant. It is a locals favorite for Sunday brunch, or sunset patio dining.
A+
It was a perfect day at an amazing course. The views are spectacular - you are surrounded by mountains and palm trees. The course was in great shape and although I play it often it always offers new challenges.
Great course, must play
Be sure to put this gem on your "to-do" list when playing in the Desert. Enjoyable and challenging.
Will be back
This is a good one. I played here back to back days first thing in the am and really enjoyed it. The carts were still on paths only which slowed things down a bit, but we still managed to get around in a reasonable time. Very nicely conditioned. All 18 holes are interesting. The restaurant is very good and the prices are fair. I paid around $50 USD each time through GN and found it to be a bargain.
Also, probably give five stars for the washroom, too. Schwanky.
Escena is a solid option for Palm Springs golf
Played Escena on 11/13. Course just reopened the first week of November after being closed 5 weeks for their overseeding program. Course was in great shape. Next week, I believe they will allow carts to go 90 degrees which will help immensely as it was cart path only for our round. Lots of walking and a very slow pace of play is the only reason I didn't rate it a 5. It's one of my favorite go-to courses in the area. Will be back in the spring!!
Great afternoon
The staff was awesome all around. Outstanding service at bag drop, pro shop and starter. Looking forward to returning in near future.
Challenging course
The front nine is easy , then yu hit the back nine . Not a course for beginners .Great views and the course in perfect condition .
Happy hour and the food excellent . Friendly service .
Friendly staff, nice fairways, slow greens.
Teed off at 12:15 and couldn't finish before dark at 5:15. Greens were a little slow and need to be rolled to smooth out. It was a fun course. Back nine a little more challenging and 400 hundred yards longer than front nine.
Opening Day After Re-seeding
I booked this round a week before my Palm Springs vacation not knowing that it was the first day open for play after re-seeding. I have never played here before and was pleasantly surprised at the conditions and the layout. The fairways were wide enough to take a rip with your driver, the designs around the greens were interesting and fresh tender young grass was growing everywhere. As long as you kept it in play, you usually had a good lie.
The only negatives were that the greens were slow (which I hear is normal for this time of year after re-seeding) and that the "driving range" was actually a "driving cage" where you hit into a net. It was better than nothing and one of the nicest ones I've used (included in the greens fees).
I thoroughly enjoyed my round and will play here again next time I'm in town.
Nice Place - Slow Play
This is a newer course in the Palm Springs area, with a big subdivision build underway. The clubhouse and grounds are amazing and the course looks fantastic from the restaurant. Despite cart path only and fuzzy greens from the overseed process, the conditions were still excellent. I really liked what I saw from the layout - interesting holes with plenty of variety, and of course Jack lets you, no, urges you to bring out the driver. I will come back anytime I can finish the round. Sadly, we teed off at 1:32, and were hoping to finish the 18th in the dark, but barely got 13 completed. Long waits on every hole. Nay marshalls. And to be honest, this is resort style course so there should be that much looking for balls. However, other than the slow play and a bit of housing creep, I recommend.
Everyone is so nice
This is a great course with a fantastic layout. It also helps that all the staff are great to deal with which always makes visiting a course like this enjoyable.
