What range?
Jack has always been able to find spots for bunkers from any tee. But here they seem to be a bit shorter so you can get over. Laying up, always left a long shot to the green. The course was in great shape and everyone had a smile. warming up was a bit tough. No range. Hit into nets and you couldn't tee one up off the mat to hit driver. only real downside.
Fair course
Course was in very good condition. Greens were firm and true. Layout was fair to the average golfer. Par threes were longer for short hitters.
Giant hamburgers at the turn were good. Lots of local wildlife to keep you entertained while waiting on the tee box.
Great course, but slow pace of play.
The course was in great shape. Lots of bunkers, but great sand and easy enough to get out of. The course plays long with several elevated greens. They could you a marshall or 2 to keep pace of play moving. We waited on every tee box. For the money you pay they could at least have a marshall, instead of 2 guys at the starter box.
Perfect Day
Course was in great shape. Staff was friendly and helpful. Pace was slow - could have used a marshall to keep things moving.
Slower than Slow
On many par threes waited for two foursomes sometimes 20 minutes. 5.5 hour round of golf. Water coolers were empty and it was 95 degrees. I like the course but I would not play it again except in the summer or when it slows down. There is very little marshalling pushing players to speed up play. Just takes too long and is too crowded.
One of the best in PS
Expensive so look online for discounts. Wonderful course and facilities.
Slow play
Golf course was in great shape only thing I would suggest they monator slow play.
Fun Track
Good little track near Palm Springs Airport, Course is straight forward and wide open, greens were a little slow but smooth and in great shape. Pace was a little slow but the group in front of us was clearly playing from the wrong tees, overall not bad and a great value for desert golf.
Great course for any level of play!
wonderful course--would go back anytime
Nice course but very slow play, no course marshall to be seen.
It's a great course in excellent condition but because of the slow play we would not recommend it to friends. On the front nine we waited on every tee box and then again for every second shot. We thought it had corrected itself as there was no waiting on the back nine UNTIL we got to the seventeenth tee box, we were the third foursome on the tee box for this par three waiting for the green to be open. We never did see a course marshal once during our round.
We mentioned to one of the employees after the round how slow it was and he said it always plays that slow as they are busy, he also suggested that with a tee time of 12:30 he was surprised we got the full 18 holes played, it doesn't get dark until 5:30 so basically he was telling us that 5 hour rounds are to be expected although we did play it in 4:45 . My suggestion would be to leave a bit more time between foursomes but obviously it would mean less revenue but slow play might end up costing them that by golfers not returning to play again. There are many other nice courses in the valley that play at a 4 hour pace so those are the courses we will play, too bad because this course is a nice track.
Close in, great play
Escena is conveniently located close in to the airport and other Palm Springs amenities. It is challenging and rewarding. The views around the course area are fantastic! The course is in great shape, and when played on a foursome special, it is a great value.
Overrated Course with no service.
I want to be balanced in this review. The course isn't bad. My low review is more about the service and amenities of this course, in comparison to other courses I had played in the week (including PGA West and Desert Willow).
It was a turn off that I had to find the restaurant and pay for coffee, it should be offered free. The driving range is the worst experience I could imagine, hitting off of turf and into a net. I suppose this framed my opinion in a negative manner from the start. I also don't like the non-conforming tee box colors.
The course was fine though
escena
good course, very good conditions, greens were slower than practice green but in v. good shape.
Wonderful Golf Course
Must play golf course. Upscale but not too overpriced. This is one of the newer golf courses in the desert and has been designed to challenge the full range of golfers. The grounds are vey well maintained, the mountain view is beautiful, and the staff are very helpful. Caution: It is located in the wind channel so try to play on a calm day.
Fun course
Took some friends and they loved it.Fair course with great greens, if you like fast.
Best golf course I played
Great golf course, very challenging, excellent condition
A little pricey but almost worth the price
lots of room off the tee
very well kept, nice fairways to hit off of, nice smooth greens, but if your in the wrong place it's going to be a 3 putt.
Greens smooth
Had 6:50 tee time Sunday morning as our usual threesome.. Starter was a bit off, fidgity and easily overwhelmed he let a foursome made up of a two some who just rolled out their car and 2 female golfers out in front of us because they had a earlier tee time while the 1st group that teed off had already finished the Par 5 by the time this group was done stretching and getting ready all while we waited. This group was down to a twosome by the 7 th hole as pace picked up.
Greens were very smooth but firm and didnt hold approach shots that great . All pins on this day were always tucked away and right near edges of green making distance control a premium . Read less break in putts to he effective here. Fairways are extremely generous with traps being very inconsistent with sand firmness and depth of sand. Back 9 is more picturesque and laid out better than the Front 9. Par 5's are mostly reachable or close to reachable with the Par 3's being 200 plus yards for the most part. Low scores are very possible . Maximum slope is 132 with a drop to 125 on the next set of tees. 125 seems a bit low. Food was excellent afterwards with fresh blueberry mini muffins being served prior to meal during breakfast hours. Paid $75 and that was supposedly $20 off from Golfnow. Fair price for this course would be in the $60 range.
Excellent Course and Excellent Value
Escena is a well- designed and well- conditioned golf course. The fairways are generous and the greens and green surrounds relatively tame by Nicklaus standards. The clubhouse and pro shop are beautiful and ideal for a drink after a round. For some reason, the course is not that busy yet and green fees are very reasonable by Valley standards.-- Highly recommended.
Not a bargain
Very good course but overpriced, given that there is no driving range...just some artificial turf and nets. Not worth a C note...
