Escena Golf Club

This is second time we played within past 3 months. We really like the layout and enjoy golfing here. Fairway conditions seem to have gotten worse the 2nd time. Very patchy with many dry spots full of dirt, many areas without any grass. Greens nice and roll true but speed inconsistent, little on slow side. Most of the bunkers have brand new sand so was still fluffy the 2nd time. I hope the course condition improves after the October shut down cause we want to come back.

Worst I have seen Escena. Had to move the ball about six times in the middle of the fairway to find some grass. Some of the fairwYs were fine for summer play, others were very sporadic with burnt spots everywhere. Greens were fine, little slow but rolled true. The course will be back, when summer ends. Always a fun round as it doesn't try to beat you up.

The grounds, clubhouse, restaurant and overall facility is wonderful. But the course was not in good shape. The fairways were very spotty, and we had to play the back nine twice due to sand trap repair on the front. I am hopeful that this is simply due to it being summer time, when not many people are playing golf in the high temperatures. I would potentially try this course again in the early spring.

On 22 August I wrote a not so favorable review on Escena Golf Course. That was my personal assessment of the course conditions that day. My disappointment was voiced due the previous rounds I've played there. On several previous occasions the course conditions were excellent, so I was in utter shock to see it in its present state. I play many of the courses in the Palm Springs area and Escena ranks right up there with Gary Player, Silver Rock, Shadow Ridge, and a host of others. The course is closing today for some needed maintenance. I appreciate the personal conversation with the Pro-shop about the current conditions. I'm sure your management team and ground keeping staff will bring the conditions back to Escena that your reputation deserves. I look forward to playing there in the future.

I like Escena. It has a playable layout by Nicklaus. Greens are always great, fairways are poor right now due to summer and water draught. Course is doing complete bunker reno and will be superb traps. The course is over-rated on rack fees, but if you find GN fees of 20 or better you have a great play. I am very frugal so maybe you would be happy with upto 35. It is somewhat challenging from the gold tees with two par 3 over 200 and several par 4 over 400-440 and 3 par 5 that really don't allow eagle opportunities. Tips are a real challenge, Greens are small. Not too many roll-offs, but undulated - typical Nicklaus.

This course should have a GolfNow alert assigned. The fairways are burnt out and many bare spots around the greens. Called and asked the pro-shop the green conditions before booking, they told me they were running 9-10 wrong answer more like 7-8. Would have been nice if they would have voluntarily told me the course conditions. Won't be back until the course comes back to the conditions of a year ago!

Many courses in the Palm Desert area are going through the worst drought in California's history. I have played about ten of them....this course is one of the best and would be worth four times what I paid if it was winter. So if you look past the bare spots and tight lies the greens and traps were in excellent condition. Play winter rules in the fairways and even the rough....enjoy yourself and don't tell too many folks so I can still get on first thing in the morning and have a great round with friends....

Nice course. Grass could be greener. Considering its summer and the 4 year drought,understandable. Great course. Great location. Good course for all skill levels.

Would not recommend off season. Bring your own water no complimentary water bottles only water with little cone cups. Doesn't last with 108 degree temps. Greens were good but fairways were completely burnt out,

Please note that we played during the summer, however we have played 10 other courses in the Palm Springs area while we have been here and none had burned out fairways like Escena. It very well may be a great course during the season. Unfortunately for us the fairways were soaked with water, however you would never have guessed they watered them because most were completely burned out.

Great summer price. Love the layout. Has always been one of my favorite courses to play in Palm Desert.

Best course I've played in years. Fairways & greens were great. I would recommend this to all. If you are in the PS area, go play Escena

Very good layout and in good condition considering the summer heat.

Escena usually is in good shape but the weather has really taken a toll. The fairways were really brown and in some cases without grass at all. The greens were aerated two weeks ago and are just coming back. Not sure why they have left it go so badly. I suggest another course until they improve the conditions.

This course never disappoints. Good to die for !!!

The greens were punched but the rest of the course was in great shape. The views make it very difficult to concentrate on golf.

The only thing missing was driving range. You just get a better since of how you are hitting with a liitle feedback.

Great course and great facility. First class course, nice layout and in very good conditions. Had lunch after our rounds, great food, excellent service.

I've never been to Palm Springs before so I didn't quite know what to expect, I had lots of fun here w/ awesome scenic course with quality all through this place even the restrooms. Greens were a bit hard so I didn't make many divots to repair and parts of the fairway was brown but rolled awesome still. I am definelty gonna play here again

Nice 18 hole desert course. Few people on it. Not quite as nice as its competitors in the desert.
