Osprey/Heron at Okeeheelee Golf Course
About
With a name meaning 'quiet waters' in the Seminole language, Okeeheelee Golf Course is situated amidst lush, rolling hills that overlook the sparkling waters of Clear Lake. There are 27 championship holes that are divided into three nines and can be played in three different 18-hole combinations. The Osprey, Heron, and Eagle nines are named after the various wildlife that can be seen throughout. Each golf course offers a different set of challenges and scenery. Okeeheelee's Osprey/Heron Course features a variety of elevation changes. There are scenic views from the elevated greens but don't become too distracted since there are many elements to contend with including towering trees, strategically placed bunkers, and deep rough lining the fairways. There are also plenty of water hazards coming into play.

course was very busy and played SLOW
mediocre due to slow play.
ranger had to cover 3 courses
Fairways in excellent condition.
Nice lay out but poor course condition
Lovely site in Okeeheelee Park. Water, trees, small animals, birds. Staff welcome was rather cold. Played Heron-Eagle. Heron was terrible: little grass on teeoffs, poor quality of grass in fairways, no work done in rough or side areas, no triming of traps, patches of crabgrass on greens that are slow. Even the ball washers either had no water, no cloths to dry balls, and needed a good cleaning and a paint job. The Eagle course was better at least for the greens and fairways. Bring along a Skycaddie or similar device because you have no idea of yardage and obstacles. Even the color of tees are hard to see.
Very Nice Course
I will recommend this course because it is a great chalange
Great Course
Really Nice tract. Had a blast. The course is short (Only 6100 or so from the blues) but plenty of wicked doglegs that make it play longer.
The conditions were super and the layout was fun.
We will definitely play again.
Course has character
For a Florida course where flat is generally the rule I found the course interesting and challenging. Because of hidden water of the tees my advice is buy the course book or play with someone who knows the course. Really enjoyed it.
Great public Course
One of the prettiest public courses in south florida. Played Heron/Eagle
The course has great features, excellent staff
We loved the course and staff. Conditions are excellent. Course is a pleasure to play. Loved it.
Très beau terrain
Endroit le fun a jouer avec de bon défi avec un temps de jeu rapide
Fantastic!
Best public course we played this year! Great conditions, tough, many tees to choose. Highly recomend.
Very nice condition
Need to have course charts or books available as a handout or for purchase. Many doglegs and blind holes . Otherwise, course in nice condition.
Lots of golfers who didnt seem to anything about the game.
Had a very enjoyable round of golf on a very nice golf course.
Unfortunately there seemed to be a few hackers about and holding everybody else up. There are three nine hole courses here we managed to get in front of a slow group at the half way stage but then got behind another slow group. Eventually joined up with two other players and finished without steam coming out of ears.
Nice environment and nice golf
Nice environment and nice golf , the green are fast
The course is coming into great shape...the putting greens are vGOOD and the fairways lush and superb to hit off...goplay!
Lush green grass with a lot of growth for the dry season...at the prices I would recommend this course, especially during the winter windy season the trees have grown enpugh to shelter the players from adverse conditions.
PLEASE SAND YOUR DIVOTS AND REPAIR THE BALL MARKS...
ALSO DRIVE AWAY FROM WORN AREAS TO HELP THE OVERALL CONDITIONS TO FLOURISH
GO PLAY !...JUST KEEP UP THE PACE, PLAY CORRECT TEE'S...LESS IS BETTER HERE AS ITS LINKS STYLE
Nice course great value
Very nice challenge. Only issue is the play is too fast. I am a 1 handicap player from Massachusetts. I never felt comfortable taking a little time to pick the right club. Always felt rushed from the time I got into the cart until my final putt on the last hole. I like 4 hr 15 min rounds. Other than that it was nice.
nice course, well kept, busy during the season
Always well-maintained. Good value. A little tight and tricky. Plan a long round if you go in Jan - April.
Good course, but it's a hackers course. A lot of older players who don't play well. Expect slow play
Green were beat up and ALOT of unrepaired ball marks. Not the course manager's fault; it's the hackers who don't know course etiquette. Eagle and Heron offer challenging holes. Osprey kind of boring 9 holes.
Because of the numerous hackers that consistently play the course and consequent slow play, I don't recommend the course for good golfers.
A good day
The course is challenging but not overwhelming. A couple of greens are not in good condition but overall the course was well maintained.
Quality municipal course
Okeeheelee is made up of three 9 hole courses, all in good shape. It not a tough course, nor is it very long even from the tips but unfortunately there are a few par 5's that beacuse of their layout, makes going for in two almost impossible.
The course has your usual, Rangers with bad jokes, over priced food and drinks and strange tee positions. But with 27 holes to choose from, you can't help but have fun.
This course is fun to play and is eco-friendly.
I've always liked this course and the fact that it is in a park setting with natural surroundings. I also like that they provide 3 different 9-hole courses which helps to keep things interesting.
Good time golf
Good couurse good codition. Great value. Played for $21 on a hot deal you can't beat the value.
