Winter Park Pines Golf Club

I arrived at the course just a few minutes before my tee time. The gentleman in the pro shop asked if I had any water. He went to the snack bar area and got two large ice waters. I tried to tip him and he wouldn’t take the money saying this is the service they like to provide. Very friendly snack bar attendant as well. It is amazing how kindness makes even bad weather seem great.

Always decent......never lets me down.....except for #3 Green....but it's coming around.

For the small amount you might save using GolfNow I do not like that if you want to play by yourself they automatically put you with a 4 some no matter what if you reserve or book through GolfNow. Almost like they're saying, "You paid a few bucks less so you don't get the same accommodations as if you paid the few bucks more." I'm not sure I like that. If I was paying a severe amount less okay I get it. You're saving maybe 4 bucks using GolfNow. Otherwise, it's a decent place to play.

I was the last group. Waited on every hole. At the end the worker approached me and started getting in my face arguing with me. He was very unfriendly and I would never recommend this course to anyone.

Winter pines is an enjoyable, relaxed course for any level golfer. The layout isn’t very difficult but it is still a good time. The biggest problem is the capacity. It may be overbooking or lack of rangers keeping pace. I mean at one point there were 7 groups playing two holes... we just skipped them all together and left. I can’t always play 5 hour rounds.

I've played this course many times over the past 30-odd years, and it's always a pleasant experience, like being at home. The personnel are pleasant and the clientele is friendly. There are ,really, only 2 things that upset me about this course: first, nobody repairs ball marks on the greens and second, there is a noticeable difference in quality between the front and back nine greens. The front 9 greens tend to be inconsistent, like number 3 has sandy and bare patches that make putting an adventure depending where the hole is cut. The back 9 seems to have quality as far as condition goes and consistency as far as speed goes, and that's about all I want on a green.

But, again, the ball mark issue is a pet peeve of mine. I mentioned this to the lady in the pro shop and she said words to the effect that the members seem to be the biggest offenders for this (!). Maybe, someone can explain to them the common etiquette that any golfer should observe on any course. (Then again, this seems to be an issue at each and every course I play; maybe the Golf Channel can do a 30 minute show on course etiquette. One can only hope.)

Anyway,, Winter Pines is always a pleasant experience and I recommend it to everyone.

The layout is interesting and the tees and fairways in good shape. Bunkers too. The greens have pot marks and are scruffy on too many holes to rank this course as superior. But this isn’t billed as a premiere club. It is affordable and fun with a very good range and practice green. The chipping area is small....but they have one! You can’t be everything to everybody at all times. This course serves a valuable purpose and is very good for young players and old players. If you have a 5 handicap you are likely to be disappointed. But 99.9% of golfers aren’t that good. Don’t be offended by the remake starter. She is gruff but she has a job to do and she does it well.

Beautiful Florida course, challenging finish, but don’t walk in without a mask on or the year will let you know before they even greet you.

Gotta take into consideration that this is a heavily played course when speaking of conditions, Concentration on the greens would be the best thing to do; they are definitely an issue. Friendly staff that keeps an eye on the #1 tee box to keep play moving...I like that!

Front nine regular par 36, back nine 3 long par 3’s. Good practice course, enough of everything, water, dog legs and elevated greens. Very friendly staff.
