Micke Grove Golf Links
About
Located in the Central Valley, Micke Grove Golf Links is surrounded by scenic vineyards. The course is mostly flat and measures to a reasonable 6,565 yards from the back tees, but it is not to be underestimated. There are some tough holes including the par-5 fifth, which requires an accurate tee shot in order to avoid the hazards on both the left and right. There are challenges in store for more advanced players but it is a fairly straightforward layout that is not too intimidating for beginners. The large greens can sometimes be tricky. Eight lakes also come into play throughout the golf course and there are more than 40 bunkers strategically placed along the greens and fairways. The signature hole is the par-3 14th. This 179-yarder calls for a tricky carry over water.

Miki Grove on a Friday
Played this course with two friends in mid January. Good shape and green despite the cold and dry weather. Greens were fast enough probably about 9 and true.
One complaint was that just off the fairway, what would usually be the first cut had grass about three inches tall that hid most balls until you were literally on top of it visually (which made it tougher to find)
We played the round in four hours and the scores ranged from 88 to 101
Fun Challenge
Great staff, course was in very good condition. Practice greens and driving range excellent. Played on a Saturday, extremely slow foursome ahead of us, waited on tee box and fairways, no Marshall to move group.
course condition
Concerning how much rain we have gotten in the last few weeks the course was in great condition
Cool weather makes for a fast game
The weather was in the low to middle 50's but the players were aware of the conditions and played at a faster pace.
Good to play on a course when golfers cooperate by not taking excessive time to look for lost balls.
Nice winter round
A fun winter day. Course in god shape and the staff was great.
Great Course
My Fiance and I were supposed to play..but I injured myself on the second stroke of the game :( it was busy so we were paired with another couple. My fiancé played and had a good time. The grounds were wet and soppy which we weren't too impressed with but overall the experience was enjoyable. We will return when I'm healthy and the weather is better. The two groups ahead were SLOW so it would have been nice if they would have kept up the pace.
Sloshy but Fun
Enjoyed my round there although carts had to remain on cart paths only due to recent heavy rains. Lost a sleeve of balls in the rough because your ball would plug which made it difficult to find even if you watched it's exact landing point. Overall I have fun with the group that I was paired up with. Drinks are too expensive...they had Country Club prices:-(
Ended up walking...NO MARSHALL!!
The Course is GREAT! In great shape and fun to play.
Now, I understand that I was playing the day after Thanksgiving and that is one of the busiest days of the year. But, when we arrived we were told "it will be 30 minute wait for a cart, and your tee time is delayed by 20 minutes" UM?? those numbers don't add up but whatever..the joke was on us. Try tee time being delayed by an HOUR + and people standing around waiting for carts 1 1/2 hours after their tee time.
We opted for taking their last four push carts and walking. We asked for the price of our cart back..."You already paid a discounted Price on-line"....UM, SO WHAT.!!...I PAID FOR A CART, IF YOU DON'T HAVE ONE, DON'T TAKE MY MONEY AND ASSUME YOU DESERVE TO KEEP IT BECAUSE OF WHAT I PAID FOR A TEE TIME THAT YOU SOLD ME!!!
The Pro Shop then said we could not start on the back 9, but if we didn't tee off by 12:30 pm we wouldn't have finished. So we disobeyed them and tee'd off on the 10th anyway...glad we did...there was no one with in two holes behind us and no one in front of us until we made the turn. When we made the turn...they still had NO CARTS. Because they had no Marshall we ended up behind a 5 some with two children after the turn that would never let us play through. GET A MARSHALL!!!
After the round a different person at the pro shop was kind enough to give me a discount on our next round since we paid for a cart we didn't get. VERY NICE...THANK YOU!
If they had a Marshall, it wouldn't have been so bad.
On the busiest day of the year, it is probably a bad idea to send out anyone playing as a single...YES THERE WERE SINGLES, PLAYING BY THEM SELVES AND RIDING IN CARTS BY THEMSELVES! No wonder they didn't have enough carts!!
Poor pace of play
They allowed 5 somes and even 6 fomes on the course
Poor pace of play it takes 4 hrs for only 13 hole play we gave up playing round pf golf.
Veterans Day Holiday - Slow Pace of Play
I played on a Holiday, my mistake! Our 10:48 tee time was delayed by about 20 minutes. Played Hole #1 and then waited nearly a half hour to play #2! We quit at the turn at 2:00 p.m. That's absolutely correct, we played 9 holes in three hours! A little marshalling on the course would have helped. The course and management are nice, I'll return on a weekday and experience the course. This was miserable, but hey, I chose to play on a holiday!
very nice course
Great course at a good price. Staff is friendly and good driving range, putting green
Don't play here on the weekend
I booked our threesome for mid-day on Saturday, hoping the crowd would have thinned out by then. No such luck. I had to quit after nine to avoid a 6 hr round. Guys in front of us were dribbling drives from the back tees but it wouldn't have mattered. We (and they) waited on every shot and had 3 groups on one tee. Really nice layout and the greens were good except it looked like the pins had not been changed for several days. The smooth greens were pretty scuffed up around the holes. Will try here again during the week.
Don't under estimate this place
This place has water, lots of water! Playing here you would forget California is in a serious drought. They had some of the longest roughs I've seen. You could barely spot your ball if you were 5 feet from it. The fairways were quite green and soft, but I would prefer if they mowed down a bit more and didn't have so much clover. Greens rolled well and most were well maintained.
Given the wind, hazards, the way the fairways tend to bend, and the soft long fairways, this course plays much longer than you might expect.
I would totally come back regularly if I didn't live so far away.
Great value for a public course.
Really enjoy the layout. Greens were in excellent condition for a public course. Patrons should be congratulated for respecting the course and greens. We'll be back more often!
Course in OK shape.
The greens were better than average with some ball mark scars but good condition. There were some irrigation problems, many mushy spots with long grass. Sprinklers need some TLC. There were also dry spots in some areas. The staff was friendly and got me off a little early. A nice value for the money.
Nice day golfing nice course to golf on
This is one of the best courses I have played lately. The tee boxes where flat and green, the fairways where in great condition and very green, and the greens where perfect, not to soft and not to hard. Nice pace to the ball when you putted. No worries about your ball running off the green if you need to pitch and run the ball up to the hole. I have had trouble with many courses lately with greens being to hard and the ball rolling off the greens on a nice little pitch. You had better keep the ball in the fairway (where it should be) because the rough is long. Makes you think about hitting your ball with the right club to keep it in the fairway..
micke grove
It has always been a nice course. The only problem is not enough man power to run properly but overall a great course.
Cut the grass!#
Like this course and have been here before buy this time the grass was tall. Ball eating, club grabbing tall.
Micke's.
Typical slow play for a Sunday afternoon. Greens in decent shape.
Never Made It On Course
Never made it on course. We had a 11:30 start time and when we arrived @ 11:00 we payed for our round and was informed they were a little bit behind. At 11:35 in went into Pro shop and they informed me that they are an hour and a half behind because they had 3 tournament scheduled on the course.I then asked for my money back. Lucky we drove to Dry Creek in Galt and got our round in. What a terrible job by management in scheduling. They should have not put tee times on Golfnow so close to there tournament. They get a negative 3 stars form me
