Tough
Played first tee time of the day. Would have shot 10 strokes worse midday with dry greens. Greens were fast and pins in hard spots. Great layout. Will play again.
Cabbage left and right!
The downfall I see to this course is if you go slightly right or slightly left it’s 99% guaranteed a lost ball. I don’t mind hitting out of the rough every now and then, but it gets aggravating when you can’t find your ball and that’s the case if you’re not in the fairway. Now, if we were pros and people were at every hole with little white flags to show you where your ball is, I wouldn’t be so hard on it! Yet I still enjoy playing here because of the challenge!
Tough pin placement
This is a fun course and I have played it a few times. We took a cart (which has GPS and geolocation) but were never told that it was cart path only, which was a bit of a bummer. The course is well maintained but playing in the winter leaves a lot more areas to lose balls (probably a skill problem more than a course problem though). Main issue was the pin placement. The greens on this course are severely sloped and the pins today were set on side slopes that made it feel like you were putting up a skee ball ramp. Balls would travel up to the hole, stop and then roll back down to your feet. If you were above the hole and didn't get the line just perfect you were going to end up 10 feet below the hole. Seemed borderline unfair.
Slowest round I’ve ever played
Do not recommend playing here, especially if they’re hosting a youth tournament in the morning. My tee time was 12:57pm, which I thought should give me enough time for 18 holes before the 5:45pm sunset. We teed off at least 20 minutes late, and were waiting about 15 minutes on each tee after that. Took 3.5 hours to get through 9 holes and I had to call it a day after hole 12.
Was obnoxiously windy on the day I played the course but it is an interesting layout and the course conditions very above average. If it is windy I recommend skipping this course because it has crazy wind influence as all tees are high up and have no obstruction to stop heavy winds. Not exaggerating but when winds are heavy here - your ball would not stay on tee, you will be pushed forward or back in your stance and for putting just hit a putt and look to God. Generally this course is nice and great value in bay area golf.
Scenic but different
Been here before years back, under new management since. This is a challenging course with challenging greens; the #4 entire fairway is sloped at an aggressively steep angle making tee shots roll almost always left off the fairway. Small majority of greens were so sloped that decent approach shots with even a bit of backspin would roll down entirely off the green. Very scenic. I played early on a Thurs morning, polite & friendly staff, range uses mats & integrates top tracer tech which is cool. Tee time was delayed by about 20min due to foresome before us showing up late. Had to call pro shop halfway through front 9 as said foursome had a slow pace of play; never saw a Marshall. By 18, our group was playing about 40min behind pace. Overall, scenic course with very challenging holes; desperately needs to do better at keeping pace of play.
Should not play here after rain
Course was very muddy, especially because those areas with no grass on fairways. Course conditions were not good, and turned into bad after rain. This was a big mistake to play here right after rain.
Challenging greens are the key index of score card performance.
Sometime it’s really frustrating playing on greens, however it is a awesome golf course I will highly recommend my friends to go playing.
Terrible condition and pace
Terrible conditions beside the greens. Amazing there able to get people to pay north of 75 dollars for this goat track. Terrible pace of play as well. Will not play again.
Overpriced, Overbooked, Bad Value
Great club house and amenities. Course conditions aren't great, but not bad, the greens were in nice condition. Layout, rough and painfully slow paced of play just make it tough to justify paying full price. I would have been much more disappointed had I not gotten a hot deal. Not a terrible course, but if I'm going to pay $80+ I'll play any number of a dozen south bay courses before considering BayView.
Challenge but fun course, be aware of mosquitoes
Played 9 holes in the early morning. Have been to the driving range couple times, and it is the first time on the course.
I walked the front 9. The course layout is fun, narrow fairways, all different up/down hill lies, which makes it challenge but fun to play. I’m a high handicap player but really enjoyed my round, and got +9 which is way beyond my expectation. Don’t play aggressive and you will have a good score here. I recommend average to high handicap player to try this course for learning course management. You don’t have to hit long to get good score here. I throw my driver away and teed up with 5/7 wood and 3 driving iron at par4 with good result.
Tee box and greens are well maintained. Bunker is also decent as well with plenty amount of sand. My only complain is that there are too much mosquitoes. I had repellent and wear wristband but doesn’t work.
A skill builder
Challenges your skills, you may lose a few golf balls, but rewarding course when you can beat your own expectations.
Like many places at this time of year, there are some muddy spots on fairways so be kind to the course and obey the rules. Also fix your ball marks on the greens every time!!
Good/average
Somehow, quite crowded on Friday morning. Slow pace, 4 hrs 40 min.
Course condition is decent. Tee boxes are quite worn, need attention and fixes. Fairways overall are pretty good. Greens are very slow (maybe too much watering in the morning).
