Meh
Played on a Friday, midday
Pace: D-
Tee Boxes: D
Fairways: C-
Greens: B
Course Design: C
Course has potential - but needs much higher TLC
My First Eagle
Some may call me biased, but after flying my 5 Iron 190 yards pin high to 6 feet and sinking my first ever eagle putt I seem to be unable to recall a more beautiful course ever existing.
Very enjoyable round, great value for money. Comfortable high quality carts. It’s not perfect - some holes very close together, slow pace of play due to shorter holes clustered together - but for the price it’s a great course to play. Challenging slopes fast greens and lots of inclines on the fairways to contend with. A good challenging fun course.
Hot deal kind of course
This course is challenging but to be priced at $100 normally is not worth it. Definitely has the views of the bay but when you look at the fairways and teeboxes it’s hard to be pleased. A lot of people don’t repair their divots and landing in the fairway doesn’t mean you will always get a good lie. Elevation play is all throughout the course and the greens were in decent condition. Overall I see this as a hot deal place to play other than that I’d rather play spring valley down the road even though it’s not as challenging.
Some good, some not so good
The course is better maintained than a few years ago. Both fairways and greens are in good condition. But due to its inherent nature of sitting on hill slopes, it still remains erratic and sometimes frustrating - you teed off a perfect drive but the ball just vanished or ended up down in the creek, and some greens are tilted about 25 degrees….. Quite a few holes are cart path only because of the steep slopes, which means you’d have to climb up there to take the 2nd or third shot. That’s fine for young and healthy legs but for older folks, good luck! And speaking about the gps controlled cart, I #%^* hated it, not because it restricts you to certain areas but because it sometimes just abruptly stops at cart permitted area. And unlike any other courses, they don’t allow you to drive the cart to load your bags from your car! Asked why and the staff just shrugged “don’t know “. Considering everything, it’s certainly not worth the money, at least not the standard rate. And the supply-demand law shows -it was only about 30% loaded at prime time on a perfect day.
Marshall doesn’t do much
Pro shop and restaurant staff was the highlight of the day., Very friendly and helpful.
We started on time but waited on every shot after that. I understand it’s a Saturday but would think the pro shop would track gps location and address the slow play. While waiting on #8, there was no one playing #9 and saw that was the hold up. We saw the marshal and assumed he talked to them but the damage was done.
To top it off, the pro shop allowed that group to stop and order food at the turn. We pulled up to #10 and there was literally 7 carts backed up!! 2 different groups stopped for lunch. The group ahead of us got lucky and played thru the slow groups but we weren’t so lucky. we saw the marshal and mentioned that they were already a hole behind on #11 but he didn’t do anything. He acknowledged the issue but drove off in the opposite direction!! Smh
No Marshals
Pace of play was so bad . I didn't see one marshal pushing the groups .
Great bang for your bucks
Greens in great shape. Pace of play was ok. Couple of gimmicky holes but fun. Would play again
Extremely slow round of golf
The course overbooked a tournament and delayed all tee times by 40 minutes. I booked a twilight time at 2:36p and did not tee off until 3:15p. They offered a free small bucket of range balls but all mats were taken, and offered a discount at the restaurant which was not provided. When we eventually teed off the course was so backed up that we had to wait 15-20 minutes on every hole and took nearly 3 hours to play nine holes. At that point I decided to call it a day and after 20 years of patronage I will not be returning based on this experience.
Beautiful course and view!
This was my second time at this course. The layout and groundskeeping is really good.
If I could list a critique, the greens needed some work. Some holes were not level or bulging, many puts were deterred from going in because of this defect. Otherwise, the carts, amenities, pace, etc. all were great and I will be coming back to golf more.
Thank you!
Cart Issues
The course was great, cool design but the player experience was poor. The carts locked out on both of our groups. The pace of play was also egregious, pacing at 5.5 hour round with no enforcement or help
Painful 5 1/2 round
They put a kids tournament in front of us on a Saturday morning. The round took 5 1/2 hours.
There are 3 fairways that don’t exist because the slope makes the ball run through it no matter where you land it. There are 3 greens that are ridiculously unfair. No one fixes ball marks here.
It was very overgrown in areas outside the fairways.
Zero forgiveness if you don’t hit fairways!
Very challenging to play if you don’t hit fairways a little left or right and there’s no such thing as first cut! 90% chance of losing your golf ball in heavy vegetation! I feel they should be trimming these outgrown areas a bit. It would also speed up place of play so people aren’t spending 5 minutes looking for a ball just bc it was a slight fade or hook. The greens were punched and sandy
