Challenging track but overbooked and slow
Pace of play was agonizing. My foursome took five and a half hours to complete our round. I liked the setup with plenty of challenging fairways and fast sloping greens.
Great but bad
This was my second time playing this course and I love everything about it except in both visits the back nine was terrible with regard to pace of play. The front nine we got through in 1hr 45min but the back 9 took 2hrs just to get to hole 16 and we had to leave from there. Very disapointed because I really like the course.
Walked off after 4.5 hrs & 14 holes
Friends and I have been here before and had the same, painfully slow experience. I know they've had complaints before about 5somes and pace of play but this is the worse I've ever experienced and absolutely not go back.
Kept clean - greens in great condition
Very clean course. Greens are kept and so are the fairways. Staff was very friendly and even offered to order my breakfast burrito. Driving range is small but don't need a big one when u have such a beautiful course. Carts are kept clean. Sand bunkers use fine sand and plenty of rakes.
Disappointed
No mention of course being airated. also gps was wrong! said flag was in back of green when it was actually in front!
Great course for the value but play is extremely slow
First time playing this course...overall the course was in good shape and a good value. Only complaint was the pace of play...we had two five somes in front of us and it was slow...we actually skipped ahead two holes on the back to get going. I expect a 5 hour round on the weekend, but not at 9:30 on a Wednesday...
Terrible golf experience!
The greens were in good shape. Other than that, it was one of the worst golfing experiences I've ever had. We got stuck behind multiple fivesomes and waited on every shot on every hole. Our time was early in the morning, but because of all the groups of five, we teed off 30-40 minutes late. How can a course be open for an hour and already be 30 minutes behind? Not only do they allow fives, but they squeezed a twosome in behind us. That poor group waited longer all day than we did.
The course itself is really weird. Only two holes on the front nine were receptive to hitting a driver. Most the holes, even par fives, had irons off the tee. The fairways were poorly manicured and large clumps of grass led to weird lies all day. some of the holes had OB with the fairway sloping toward the OB and trees on the other side. The worst part of the course was all the adjoining holes that had people going in all directions. As I putted on one of the greens, I heard three different people yell "Fore" in about two minutes. Balls we landing near and around us all day and we were lucky not to have been hit.
I will never go to this course again.mwe paid $59 and it wasn't worth $25.
Great course for the price!
Course is always in great shape. A great mix of challenging and scorable holes. Gotta play smart golf here but can be rewarded for great shots.
No deal to walk
We were very happy with the whole experience except that their super twilight rate is the same whether you walk or not. There should be a super twilight rate for walkers instead of being the same with the cart.
Saturday Play
Played here on February 14 and even though the course was in good condition the pace of play was really slow. Ok round for the cost.
San Dimas Canyon
The course was very nice, well kept and maintained.
The staff was courteous and professional. However, the pace of play was a bit slow FYI, it took 3 hours and 15 minutes to at the front 9.
Unfriendly
The course was in good shape but the day started off on the wrong foot with the staff!
Nice course to play
The only issue was a tournament ahead of us that was slow. Other than that would play there again.
Weekend pace of play warning
I play this course more than any other. The layout is fun and each hole is unique. The conditions here are always great, that you can count on. The problem seems that on weekends the course is over booked and more importantly not marshalled for pace of place. Our tee time was 10:50am and we barely finished losing daylight around 5:15pm, which is horrendously long. I never once saw a marshall enforcing pace of play, it was horrible. Play here M-Th early if you can, we play within 3 hours if we are the first to tee off.
They should limit the number of starts
Sure, the day after Christmas might be a favorite golf day for occasional golfers, but the facilities management should ensure they do not overcrowd the course.
It was more crowded than Walmart on Black Friday.
Started us an hour after our tee time and we barely finished the 13th before the sun went down. The issue was not simply slow play, there were carts everywhere.
Post Xmas Round
Treated a friend to a round of golf for his bday. Play was slow as expected considering it was a long holiday weekend (day after Xmas). The course was in fantastic condition. It has been a while since the last time I visited this course and forgot how simple and nice of a course this is. Definitely be back soon.
So so
The course was in nice condition. My only complaint is we booked our tee time for 837. The started never called us, even though we checked in a couple of times. Ended up teeing off at 940. The course was way over booked. Took almost 6 hours to finish. We expected it to be busy being the day after Christmas, but not this busy. The food was good, greens ran fast and true. I'd play here again, but on a week day only.
great fairways and greens
Great layout. You get good lays in the fairway. Greens roll good and smooth. Definitely have to check mountain to read the breaks. Can get slow due to number of people playing.
Cramped!
I must preface saying that I had a great round and was paired up with some great playing partners. Greens were in excellent condition and a lot of fun to putt on.
Tee boxes were really bad, not mown and were really uneven. Fairways were a bit better and not horrible but not great either. The biggest complaint is actually out of the owners control without a huge remodel. Each hole is extremely tight (not in a good way) and sits next to two to three fairways of other holes. I guess considering the land they built it on they did ok but to play it isn't fun. People are hitting onto everyones fairways because of how close so your always worried someone is picking up or hitting your ball when you get to it.
In addition, they let 5 some's out which is super frustration with the pace of play. If this was a huge course I would be ok with it, but with 6 par 3's it slows things down tremendously. For the price I paid I didn't regret playing but I wouldn't be stoked to play out here again.
It did have a few scenic holes and a few beautiful views.
San Dimas is always a good value.
This course is always maintain very well, the staff is friendly and the pase of play is excellent add to that the mountain views you can enjoy from the fairways help make San Dimas an excellent choice for your golf outing.
