Great Conditions!
Great day on the course. Pace was just right and conditions on course were outstanding! Not to mention I got a great deal on the green fee via Golf Now. Will definitely be back!
Private Club Conditions
This club is awesome. The course itself is in great shape. Greens are moderate- not too soft, not too firm. Tee boxes and fairways in great shape, too. The staff at San Dimas Canyon are second to none- great people that try to help everyone. I had breakfast (Denver omlette) and coffe, serice and staff were wonderful! There is truly nothing to complain about, other than some lunk headed 3-some I had to follow, went around them after three holes. They were completely out of touch with how to play ready golf. This course is so nice that it's hard to give a fair review- I'd rather keep people away so I can have it to myself.
Hidden gem
This is a very fun course. Fun par 3s and a few shots where you have to carry water which makes it exciting. The course was in excellent condition. Green fairways, fluffy bunkers and the greens were fast and true. You will more than likely see deer a few times while you play which makes it pretty cool. The GPS and good food are just an added bonus. I will definitely be back.
Challenging Fun
I've always liked playing here, though my score would not reflect that. Unlike other more "flat" courses, this offers many challenges, from water hazzards to tough uneven lies. It makes up for it with "mostly" wide fairways. the sandtraps are a Real challenge, with really good deep sand, a true rarity amongst public courses. The Greens are in great shape, fast and not flat at all. A low score can only be had by leaving it "below the hole" Afternoon Wind can be tough too.
Challenging Course
My threesomes had a great day on the course with fairways and greens in top shape! Keeping your ball in the fairway is a must, heavy rough and out-of-bounds can be a problem.
Poorly Managed
The course ran out of golf carts. All tee times were delayed 25-35 minutes. The delay severely impacted the pace of play. Several groups of five (5) were allowed to tee off. We reached a point of total frustration after the 10th hole and left. I would not refer this course to any of my friends or family.
5 hours on a Thursday. No thanks
I don't know what has happened to golf in Southern California whether EVERYONE has the fever or courses are overbooking and not policing pace of play but there were six, no joke, six groups after 130pm on a Thursday between the tee box on 4 and the green at 5. 5 is a long par 3 and NO group waved up the next group , they all took their time putting every 2 footer. Worst part was asking the pro shop how does it look out there today upon arrival. Answer was "it's pretty open today!" Hate to see San dimas when it's busy then...
Picturesque and home to the local friendly deers
Got out mid-day around 1:45 PM and finished in less than 4 hours. Always enjoy the location and the overall course layout . . . especially the back 9.
My wife loves the friendly deers that enjoy migrating and grazing on the course. I know wierd . . . but they are really pretty and it is so rare to see.
I like the newly installed course management computers on each cart . . . they really help.
San Dimas CAnyon
I found this course to be very nice. The wild life around the course was amazing and the fairways and greens were fantastic, and very fast! The course was very challenging, with narrow and blind fairways, and undulating greens that were difficult at times. It was our first time playing here so there were a lot of surprises for us on some of the blind holes. Over all it was a good course experience.
Why is it always so packed?
The course is really nice but i never wanna play here cause it's always so packed. They never have carts ready and the pace of play is just sad. Played in a tournament here a 2 months back and they were letting people play in between the groups of our tournament of 100 people. Just crazy what these Public courses will do for money. They really need to advertise when their having tournaments so people wont show up.
This course is very nice.
The pace of play was a little slow compared to most courses. The course conditions were very good, greens fast, fairways in good condition, not too much brown patches, mostly green grass and well maintained.
Good and challenging
We played 12.6.13 and it was the one day in the week that it decided to rain. We get to the course and it's dead, with the exception of the die hards. They let us out despite the rain and lucky for us, the rain stopped after 9 holes.
Staff was friendly with the exception of the guy in the pro shop, who was behind the front desk maybe half the time. The other half was spent watching tv. Oh well, it was raining, but a friend lost a club that day and he had to search for any employee in the pro shop for assistance every time he went in.
Tee boxes were well maintained and the greens are what made this place enjoyable. Despite the rain, the ball rolled very quickly.
The course was in great shape but play was very slow.
Would suggest that the ambassadors monitor the players regarding such things as slow play and leaving carts in front of the green in order to speed up play. Also, perhaps the management should not schedule quite so many groups on the course at one time.
Decent Course with Some Uniqueness
Played on Thanksgiving. A bit crowded but the course was maintained fairly well and though many of the holes are laid out like a muni course (side by side fairways) there are also some very unique holes which cut into the mountains. Deer all over the course too. Overall, good value play and very cordial staff.
this course is fun but needs attention
3 1/2 hours for the first nine was absurd...course was way over booked...i called it a day after just 12 holes. Greens are filled with divots and pro shop guy is more interested in having his smoke before attending customers
Nice Course
Played after a day of rain ,course was in great shape ..
The course and staff rate - OUTSTANDING !!!!
The staff greeted our foursome with smiles and great tips for an enjoyable round. The greens were in phenomenal shape and rolled true from all sides. Fairways were green and manicured from tees to green. This course rates 5Stars for a public course.
