Buenaventura Golf Course
About
Buenaventura Golf Course originally opened in 1932 as a nine-hole course but closed in 2004 for major renovations. The course's original designer, William Bell, was consulted for the redesign. It was transformed into a more challenging course, but the 1930s design features were carefully preserved. The parkland layout may seem short at just over 6,000 yards but like many of the courses from that era, length is not as important as strategy and course management. The strategically placed bunkers have classic shapes that blend seamlessly into the natural environment as though they were carved by the river. The bunkers combined with the fast, sloping greens make the golf course a shot-maker's paradise. One of Buenaventura's most memorable holes is the par-4 13th. It is one of Bell's original designs, an interesting risk-reward opportunity with water along the right.

Nice Shape, slightly too short to keep my interest
This is a nice course along the river - Neighbors with Los Olivas and River Ridge. Of the three this is in the best condition, but is also the easiest layout. For an average golfer or short hitter it is a fun layout with plenty of different challenges. For a low handicapper and/or long hitter you might get a little bored. I kept thinking my mom would love it here, but for me it wasn't quite challenging enough. The par fives are really par fours. Some of the par fours are really par threes. Bring your lob wedge. Pace of play was not great either, especially if you are waiting to get on the par 5s in 2 and to drive several of the par 4s.
Solid stuff
Fairways were fun and great length/wide. The greens were great challenge for any level golfer. #facts
Great maintenance!
Course was in superb condition. Greens rolled true, and fairways were immaculate. The rough and bunkers were also very well maintained. Front nine is a little short, but fun, and the wind definitely adds to the difficulty.
Good course, not our favorite, little expensive for what you get
We like this course but others in the area are better. The course is short which is a nice break, but some of the greens are tough. Be aware the tee times do not include a cart. They honored our teeoff.com price which said it had a cart included. Otherwise it's $16/per person to add a cart. I thought for what the course is $60 would be a bit much for a round here. It's worth maybe $45 total. We'll come back maybe, but not our favorite.
Great course
Nice day to play, in a great course.
Eventhough they let a 5 some play before us which slowed the pace.

Car burglarized during round of golf
This was my first time playing at Buenaventura golf course. When I finished my round of golf I returned to my car and noticed the key hole was drilled out, and my keyless entry would not work. I go on to find that someone had broken into my car and stole valuables cash and credit cards and cost thousands of dollars of damage to my car. Also thousands of dollars were charged to two of my stolen credit cards. I notified staff that my car had been burglarized and they let me know that this happens occasionally and one of the staff members told me he chased to burglars out of the parking lot who had just stolen a laptop out of a customers car that Buenaventura golf course parking lot. If vandalism and theft is not uncommon why are there no signs informing customers? Why do they say that they spent millions of dollars renovating this golf course but have failed to install a security camera in the parking lot? I filed a report with the golf course. I will update when I hear back down them. This is unacceptable when spending money at a business. They should notify and protect their customers.
Prime
The Tee boxes and fairways are prime! Reachable course ! Great time !
Private club conditions, public course price!
Enjoyed an early morning rabbit run at Buena Ventura with the family!. Was happy just to get out to swing a club and play. Teed off at 0-dark-thirty and immediately noticed an amazingly verdant velvet layer of fairway turf as I chased my drive down the fairway. Fabulous private club type fairway conditions lined every hole. For those who are unfamiliar with Buena Ventura, it is a shorter course at par 70, but none the less challenging with a mix of tree-lined par fairways, lakes, and traps. If there is a weak point it would be a bevy of short par 3's, yet, tricky enough with less elements of dicey slopes, traps and water to keenly keep our interest. Enjoy now, as course conditions are at a premium. Finished our round in a hair under 3-hours!
