About
Buenaventura Golf Course originally opened in 1932 as a nine-hole course but closed in 2004 for major renovations. The course's original designer, William Bell, was consulted for the redesign. It was transformed into a more challenging course, but the 1930s design features were carefully preserved. The parkland layout may seem short at just over 6,000 yards but like many of the courses from that era, length is not as important as strategy and course management. The strategically placed bunkers have classic shapes that blend seamlessly into the natural environment as though they were carved by the river. The bunkers combined with the fast, sloping greens make the golf course a shot-maker's paradise. One of Buenaventura's most memorable holes is the par-4 13th. It is one of Bell's original designs, an interesting risk-reward opportunity with water along the right.

Great course for the price
Always a great time at Buenaventura. Looking forward to playing it again soon.
Best value early afternoon
Teed off 1:10. Joined another single on 2. Wide open until hole 10. Slowed down a bit but still finished before 4!

Good Public Course
Good alternative to play golf when you want to just want a solid round and experience.
if you like 6 hour rounds go on Thursday its senior mens day.
First timer
Pace of play on a Saturday amazed me! We were a 2 some and had to wait for tee shots from the foursome ahead of us play continued at a fairly rapid pace. Overall it was a very enjoyable day!
Great time
Played a 3 hour round as a twosome reed off at 2:30 clubs back in the truck by 5:30. Great conditions. Enough said. Get out to Buena and play a great course or don’t and I will take advantage of the quick rounds in the afternoon haha
Short but Fun
I've been playing this course for many years off and on. It's not my course of choice for the Ventura and Santa Barbara area given all the other courses around. It's a shorter than typical course with the black tee just short of 6000 yards, but it's not a push over either. Moderate length players can hit wedge into most greens so if I brought my game I can score in the 70's. Definitely worth playing. I played today because of the price point over all other courses in the area. That's when I usually play it. Enjoy!
Great course
Great conditions considering the massive amount of rain we received the previous day. Very fun course with a few tough spots but overall a forgiving course. Can’t wait to go back.
Friendly and local atmosphere.
I’ve played the course before and enjoyed my round. I was paired with a good mix of players and they were very friendly. Overall the experience was good. I always get a neighborhood vibe when I play there and like the experience!
