Olivas Links Golf Course
About
Situated along the Ventura Harbor overlooking the Santa Clara River, Olivas Links (formerly known as Olivas Park Golf Course) enjoys coastal breezes that make it cool in the summer and warm in the winter, providing perfect conditions for golf year-round. The golf course has a links-style layout that closely follows the natural swales and curves of the landscape and separated by bands of fescue and wild grasses. The course is mostly open but there are some large pine trees scattered throughout. Its seaside location subjects the golf course to strong winds, especially on the front nine. The challenging layout offers multi-tiered greens and contoured mounding along the fairways. There are also deep bunkers strategically placed throughout Olivas Links, but the openness of the course places a stronger emphasis on hitting the right spot on the fairway or getting the correct angle of approach to the green rather than avoiding the bunkers.

Excellent Course. Greens sanded two weeks ago.
One of the best Public courses in Ventura County. Always cool and sometimes breezy.
Played two back 9's because course front 9 was being aerated
We wish we knew in advance that the front nine was closed and we would be playing two back 9's. The course moved quite slowly because of the mingling of front and back bookings.
nice day, good course
The course was a little dry, and the greens were bumpy, but overall, this is a nice course, and well worth the money.
They need a clubhouse.
tough course tough rough. good layout. great weather.
Great course with somewhat slow play
Front nine were quick, the back nine took 2 1/2 hours in windy conditions. Greens were slow but otherwise course condition was great considering time of the year.
Excellent greens fairways need a little tlc
I enjoyed the course layout very much. The greens were great a lot of slight hills and bumps. The pace of play started out good but started to play really slow from thew 7th hole on. We did not see any marshal to enforce the slow play in front of us.
This course is fairly challenging but...
If you stay in the fairways you're going to have a great day. Some balls so much as a foot off the fairway you can't find them. Lot of strokes on your game if you can't keep it on the fairway. Keep them straight, you're going to have fun! It's a really nice course.
Nice course to play
Played this course and found it to be a nice challenge. The downside is, when we played, the course booked 2 tournaments which we were not aware of as well as, just before we went out they had 2 match play tourney - one had the lower handicaps on the front 9 and the higher handicaps on the back the nine. We were behind them and started our game on the back nine a half an hour late. With no course marshal, the speed of play was unbearably slow. It took us 3 1/2 hours to complete the back nine and the day was at an end and were unable to complete
Good Playing course, but no 19th hole
The course plays well. A bit brown, but that's normal for this time of year. The Pro-Shop and bathrooms are temporary trailers. Very strange. Also, no 19th hole or food service. Pre-made sandwiches or funky Hot dogs are the only snack.
Great bang for the buck!
Great course for the money. Tee to green the conditions are very well maintained. The course is somewhat forgiving and the greens are not too fast, but not too slow. Definitely will recommend this course.
Tony from Woodland Hills, Ca.
Excellent time
Classic course, Epic time, great location...
Wish we could have played 27
LInks style course with large fairways and challenging greens. A must play in the Ventura area.
Best shape I've seen the course in! Awesome fairways and greens. Definitely worth the drive from the San Fernando Valley.
If you love knee-high rough just off the fairway, this course is for you
This course has all the obstacles of links course and all the obstacles of a regular course - trees, water, etc. It's ridiculous to have complete unmaintained knee-high rough on a municipal golf course - and don't forget the winds
The course will be a premium golf experience, once a club house is built.
The course is fun to play, but it can be difficult once the afternoon wind kicks up. The lack of a snack bar and a club house detracts from an othewise outstanding course.
Good Time, Great Course
This course is in GREAT shape. The greens and fairways are carpet like. The tough part is the naturalized areas; hard to find your ball if you hit errant shots. GolfNow provided a great discount for a great course.
Challenging links type course.
Almost a taste of the Monterey Peninsula without the frightening green fees. This course will test players of all abilities and provides a full array of tees to do just that! Olivas Links is certainly a relaxing layout with tricky greens that has just enough links-like design and feel to it to both charm and keep you on your toes, especially should the ocean breezes blow!
Nice course, but poor club house facilities.
Olivas Links is a nice course with close proximity to Ventura, CA and Highway 101. Practice facilities are very good, but the club house and restrooms are in trailers. Good value for the money.
Great Course
Great experience, will definitely come back. Staff in Pro Shop outstanding!!
Great Fairways, Greends have divot marks
The fairways were in great shape. The greens need some attention from all of the divots. The pro shop said they were not going to punch the greens this fall. Interesting. Nice links style course. Good value for the money. I would recommend. Hole number 1 & 9 are the easiest. Double green on 9 & 18 is a nice touch.
good course, back nine better than front
A good value for the money. Rather pedestrian front nine but very interesting back nine. Fairly slow pace of play and no starters at first tee so you have to fight for your spot.
