Olivas Links Golf Course
About
Situated along the Ventura Harbor overlooking the Santa Clara River, Olivas Links (formerly known as Olivas Park Golf Course) enjoys coastal breezes that make it cool in the summer and warm in the winter, providing perfect conditions for golf year-round. The golf course has a links-style layout that closely follows the natural swales and curves of the landscape and separated by bands of fescue and wild grasses. The course is mostly open but there are some large pine trees scattered throughout. Its seaside location subjects the golf course to strong winds, especially on the front nine. The challenging layout offers multi-tiered greens and contoured mounding along the fairways. There are also deep bunkers strategically placed throughout Olivas Links, but the openness of the course places a stronger emphasis on hitting the right spot on the fairway or getting the correct angle of approach to the green rather than avoiding the bunkers.

Greens were meh. Bunkers need sand
Practice green was better than the course greens, especially on a lot of holes where they put the pin, some were almost too used as in there were a lot of ball marks and very bumpy, others were kinda thick and recently punched with small holes like hole 13. They were inconsistent from hole to hole. And, the mowing marks were way too lively and evident, as they were not rolled flat to make them smooth, the vertical mow marks were everywhere, including the fairways.
Bunkers all looked like they beed work, most of them need new sand. Some still showed evidence of rain water pulling down the sidewalks. After all this time? You would have thought they would have fixed those already.
The course looks like it’s almost back to how it used to be, all of the lakes have water and extra tall reeds, so it’s best to avoid them for sure.
But it’s not fun when the ball bobbles and bounces all over the place because they are just not smooth. I guess it depends on what day you catch the place
Always a great venue!
Always fun to get out of the heat and play on a beautiful course, enjoying the ocean breeze...
Nice condition
Course needs a marshal to keep up the pace .it’s not a race however when a foursome is 2 holes behind an the rest of the players are stacked up a marshal should step in.
Nice Course
Played here couple of times and loved it. Price is reasonable and the greens and fairway are well kept. Definitely will recommend it to my friends.
A great course
A challenging layout. Keep it straight. Lush fairways and challenging greens. The rough is brutal. 1 of the best in SoCal.
Good place, great location
Decided to try this course after hearing a coworker rave about it. Well it didn’t disappoint. The course was a great combination of everything you can think of and the greens are super challenging. The Pro Shop and corresponding bathrooms are portable buildings at the moment, but it’s a great course with a very friendly staff.
Greens and course were in good shape. Good green complexes for public course.
Consistently Good Track
Olivas is always a pretty good course. Fairways and greens in good condition. Typical moderate sea breeze (as usual) after the first few holes.
Links style, so more open than some courses. Fairly long for any given set of tees, but length, bunkers, green slopes and breeze more than tightness are the challenges. Not super hard but a good play for mid handicapper like me.
First time, coming back soon!
First time here but I’m a new golfer and haven’t been to many courses yet. But this quickly jumped to the top three I’ve been to behind a Greg Norman course I played in Cancun. Fairways are narrow but really nice. Greens are nice and big and consistent. Will be back soon.
