The course was in great condition.
Nice open course. The greens were in very good condition and fast. I play here often. Great value for your dollar.
Good value
Why go to the driving range. For a few dollars more I can practice on a course. Yes, I'm a cheap golfer. Why pay $25 to $35 when other near by courses are the same or marginally better condition.
Battlefield on the rise
I encourage friends to play here because I find this layout to be fun and challenging. Rolling fairways, incredible greens, water and sand, it has everything. I like that every time I go here I can see signs that they are still working to improve the layout and the conditions for the players ( I find this more important than a lack of a fancy clubhouse and pro shop, or less-than primo carts that I've heard others mention - those are irrelevant to the course and the pace of play). I look forward to playing there again soon.
Beautiful new Champion Bermuda greens.
The Superintendent there has done a fantastic job with the new greens. They are rolling buttery smooth. Can't beat the price for the quality of the course! Was a playing practice round for me (still cheaper to play than 2 buckets of practice balls). Thank you.
I personally think this is a great course, especially for the price. Wish they had a clubhouse with some food but I'll bring a sandwich to play at the price the charge!
Water!
Good course. Lots of water. No club house, just a pro shop, vending machines and porta-Johns.
I wouldn't pay full price, but the "hot deal" is worth it. Good luck.
Interesting layout; no amenities
This is a moderately challenging course that has a really interesting layout. Water comes into play on many holes. There are a lot more elevation changes than is typical for courses in this area.
The greens are interesting; they almost look like they are artificial. They putt reasonably true, though. They don't hold approach shots well, as they are fairly hard.
I enjoy this course. It's a lot different from all the others.
They don't have a real clubhouse, the parking lot is dirt, and if you have to go, they only have porta-potties. On the plus side, though, their driving range is really nice and you can hit off grass. You can also practice sand shots.
Don't waste your time
Absolutely horrible conditions. Greens are the worst I've ever played. Pace of play was slower than ladies league night. The fairway and the rough was the same grass length. I wouldn't play there again if I got paid to play
Greens look dried out
Even with the current rains and warm weather the greens looked very dry and worn out. It was real hard to get a consistent roll when putting. Hopefully they will get to working the greens back into shape.
This course needs new greens.
The course is in very rough shape, grass needs improvement and the greens are terrible.
Close to home
This course is close to my home. I play here often because of that and it's inexpensive. For February the greens are in good shape and pretty fast. I do wish that the pace of play was a little better but they allow groups to skip holes which causes backups from time to time. I do appreciate Mike and his staff for the junior camps they put on in the summer. My son has benefited from it. Overall it's not a bad place to play. Now if they can get some sort of food sales it would greatly help.
Not bad
The course is not fully developed. No permanent clubhouse. Some cart paths are paved, others not. The layout is good. Lot of water in play so need to be fairly accurate. Greens are green, not brown, and pretty fast. The course is not fully developed, but for the money, it's fine. It's challenging enough. Plenty of practice area for putting, chipping, and driving. We'll play here again.
My best score at this coarse- 73
Everything played right for me yesterday. I've been playing at this course whenever there's a great deal at golfnow.com so basically that means very often with the weather permitting.
The course was dry, greens a bit fast and off course open wide fairway. You can easily recover from a bad drive.
One thing I notice is the dust in the air that seem to linger witht the wind. It gets in your eyes so I suggest a good pair of shades and wash off after. Other than that the course is grat for your money.

Scruffy Looking Links
Its a good course for a less than scratch golfer than me. Its cheap, and you can (relatively speaking) beat up the course.
Course Keeps Getting Better
Played this course after it was first opened. Nothing to write home about. Played it each year and it continues to get better and better. Long holes, short holes, water, elevated greens and wind. If the city of Chesapeake would stop putting barriers in this courses way this could be a really nice course. As I said it keeps getting better but with the city not cooperating with them it is a slow process. Keep up the good work especially what you have done with hole #7. I think this could be your "Signature" hole. Enjoyed.
Visiting Foursome
The course played well. If there were 150 yard sticks in the fairway it would help players to better locate the flag on the greens. Given the layout, we were constantly looking for flags as first time players on the course.
Overall, I would play the course again.
it was a windy day.
good course, Greens were a little hard but okay. Fairways were easy to hit off of. Open course so a windy day makes it much more challenging. bottom line I had fun.
