Good layout, tough course, conditions could be better
Pace of play was noticeably quite slow, caught group in front by the second tee box. Greens were over watered even though it was sunny all week leading up to this day. Due to the green conditions, pitch marks were craters, and the majority were either not repaired properly, or not repaired at all. Every putt undoubtedly would hit one of these marks. The wetness was evident esp. near the holes, where foot marks or spike marks could be seen. I am not sure why they can't make the greens more firm and dry, to prevent the above issues. Some greens were also still sandy from a previous aeration. Teeing grounds were fine, fairways were excellent. Bunkers were very hard and packed down (probably from copious amounts of water used). Course layout is nice, part of the challenge is not really having an even lie even on the fairways or just off the fairway. Par 3s are super long for no reason from the tips, - hitting 3hybrids/2irons into 240+ par 3s is certainly different probably would go a tee down for more enjoyment. Probably wouldn't come back due to pace of play/greens, just not enjoyable knowing a putt has no chance to go in. Has potential to be worth an 80 dollar round just needs to be dried out.
Crowded. Slow.
Strangely crowded to levels that would make you think there’s no pandemic. No masks on staff. No masks in clubhouse. Groups of 8 playing in front of groups of 2. Shame because the course looks fun and challenging. I wouldnt know because I couldnt finish it in under 5 hours.
Decent course for the money
Staff is rude and not friendly whatsoever and made us feel like second rate citizens because we were in the “hot deal” group from golfnow lol
greens are awful and ridiculous
Great layout but too many golfers
I really like the layout of this course. The greens are bent grass which I love playing on but soft. People don’t replace their ball marks and therefore it gets torn up a bit. It’s a shame. My only real criticism is the pace of play is pretty slow. People who are 25 handicaps are playing from the wrong tees and lining up every part no matter how far they are from the cup. The practice tee is in bad shape. I imagine too much use. Balls frequently run out and you have to wait for balls to come back in.
Fun course, too crowded
Really nice layout and fairly priced. They don’t govern pace of play and a lot patrons have very poor etiquette.
Way over booked and over price , no carts had to wait for them , no range balls and the greens are not in good shape at all !!!
Slow, Slow Play on Labor Day Holiday
Should have known this was going to be a frustrating day. Check in was challenging as there was a long line of folks waiting to pay. Second, they had run out of carts, so after checking in, I had to wait another 10 minutes before I could get a cart for my partner and I.
Thirdly, they ran out of balls on the range and had to wait again - for another 15 minutes for the ball machine to be restocked and the long line of golfers to get their fill before I was able to fill my bucket.
I should have known not to book my tee time because of the extremely tight timing between foursomes on the GolfNow app. Lesson learned to pay attention to that spacing. Unbelievably slow play all day. Stacked up at hole #2 and stayed that way through the front nine. My playing partner and I decided to just skip the back nine due to the high level of frustration we were experiencing just sitting in our carts. Also, we didn't want to finish the round in the dark. On the positive side, the course is a very good one. Just avoid this on a holiday weekend for sure.
No Maintenance
Heritage is really going downhill. Many of the fairways are filling in with crabgrass. If you play it down, you could be in the middle off the fairways and have clumps of grass around your ball. The greens are horrible--pockmarked where divots go unrepaired and there are growing bare spots. The bunkers are hardpan dirt that's dried. Rumors are they there trying to sell the land and at this point they should.
Also, playing on a holiday Sunday and there's no beverage cart going around the course? Just one parked at hole 16 (7 at Legacy). Hot dry day and no drinking water on the course. They have to do better than that.
The one nice thing I'll say is that the golf shop staff and the starter are really nice. Very friendly and helpful.
Good afternoon But slow!
Course was in very good shape, the greens were very lush, lots of unrepaired pitchmarks though, unfortunately. I enjoyed the round and the course is a nice challenge but can reward good shots. However, the pace of play, especially on the front nine, was pretty excruciatingly slow. The starter said the recommended pace of play was 2 hours per nine and that the ranger would try to speed people along of the didn’t maintain pace, but I didn’t see any evidence of that unfortunately. However, still a nice way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Thanks!
Overcrowded
Parking is hard to come by, carts are in short supply, Pace of play is slow, so many ball marks. If it weren't so crowded all the time, it'd probably be a great experience
Bad customer service
I've played here several times lately. I like that the course drains well. Up until this last time, customer service has been good, but this last time was horrible. After I booked on golfnow, arrived, and paid, I was informed I would have share a cart. No mention of that anywhere except for a small sign shown to me by the register after I paid. The attendant there was a jerk. So difiant. So matter of fact. I wasn't going to share a cart and had I known before hand, I wouldn't have book it. The jerk attendant proceeded to inform me it would cost an additional $25 for my own cart! After we exchanged words, the Mgr came out and offered us individual carts. That was crazy. Then we were rained out after 6 holes, so I had to go in the clubhouse to deal with the same jerk attendant regarding a raincheck. After another back and forth, he gave us a 9 hole credit even though we only played 6 holes. Whatever! And by the way, the greens are in horrible shape.
What happen to Heritage?
I use to love coming to this course bc it was close to the city and could rival a lot of the high-end/private courses with amenities, course layout, and condition but those days are gone. I've heard they've changed management/ownership and it definitely shows. I noticed the prices, which you usually don't mind as long as the service and conditions don't decline, prices went up and but the course went down. No cart girl, no Marshall, poor behavior/golf etiquette from players, the pace of play extremely slow, greens look terrible, divots and abuse on almost every hole. I sometimes see a 70-80 price tag for a tee time and it looks like someone has the fix in! I'll drive the extra 20-30 mins outside the city if this is what Heritage has become.
