Situated between Richmond and Williamsburg, the Club at Viniterra sprawls across abundantly wooded hills. There is no shortage of elevation changes on this Rees Jones and Greg Muirhead-designed golf course. There is a difference of as much as 70 feet from the tee to the green on most of the holes. When combined with the mature trees, the result is a tough layout that demands accuracy. Thankfully though, there are not many water hazards to contend with but there is strategically placed bunkering throughout. The golf course also provides a scenic round with working vineyards running alongside the lush fairways. In addition to being challenging, the Club at Viniterra prides itself on their environmentally sensitive practices. The golf course saves as much as 80 percent of the water used on traditional courses thanks to the use of a drought-resistant grass hybrid.

Nice layout, with some really pretty holes. Course was challenging, but fair. Great lunch after the round.

Great course

This is a beautiful course that is challenging yet playable. The layout is unique and scenic. Unbelievable value for the money. It can play as long as you want to play it given the many tee selections. Love this course.

Pick your tee box carefully

There is a distinct difference between the tee boxes. Select wisely. If you want long irons in to many of the holes, pick the green tees. If you would like a chance at birdie from time to time, pick the whites. I’m a 13 handicap. I hit the ball 220-240 off the tee. The green tees are 6700 and the whites are 6100. The whites are much more enjoyable for me.

Fairways are wide and greens are HUGH. Bunkers are in good shape. Tees roll nicely.

It’s a great course and pace of play is usually very good.

Hidden gem

I came up from Raleigh to play. I saw good reviews and liked the layout from pictures. But these do this course zero justice! You have to play it. It is worth every penny. Staff was extremely friendly. This will be our go to course from now on!

Beautiful place to play

I wish the restaurant had a better menu and beer selection. The person serving was also the cook. She didn’t k ow what an IPA was.

Thank you for your comments. As for the grille, we have a wide selection of sandwiches to choose from. Sorry that our Staff couldn't elaborate more on an IPA, but hopefully that didn't deter you from ordering the Alewerks:) See you again soon.

Challenging course

This has always been a top notch well maintained course in the five years that I have played here. This is a challenging course if you cannot keep it in the fairway. Give yourself a break and play the tees that suit your game.

Great Challenge

Had a blast playing from the Green Tee Decks. Plays at 6700 yards but an awesome challenge. Course management is key to this track...leave your ego in the bag and enjoy every shot. The greens were in great fair and the Fairways wide...a must play course and with 7ntee decks to choose from, looking forward to playing again

Long, challenging and beautiful

This is an extremely beautiful course set in the New Kent countryside adjacent to the New Kent Winery, there’s even a few vines amongst the holes. It plays very long from any of the back three tee boxes so being long, and accurate, with the driver is very helpful. A Rees Jones designed course that features difficult strategic bunkering on nearly every tee and approach shot, it has the potential to be a very frustrating or rewarding experience. Great rolling manicured greens on every hole. Staff was very polite as well as other golfers we ran into. Will play again but certainly need to figure out my slice first! Fantastic golf course!

Totally decent

Overall, good conditions, good layout and good value. Tees are set either very long or very short. Greens are firm but hold well struck shots with good speed. Not a lot of water or hazards but the greens were all raised and challenging.

Best Weather of the year for golf

The course was in very good shape for our team building best ball outing. The fairways were in good shape although it was a little wet in areas and the 90 degree and cart path only was in affect for some of the holes. The bunkers were wet and had to use relief on some due to standing water and some mud in the centers of them. All in all it was a great day to play and we had a blast. This was our third time out here and it gets better every time we play. New Club house is open and brand new. The carts seem a little under powered for the terrain of the coarse but they made it through.

A challenging, fun test

Despite being bombarded with ridiculous amounts of rain recently, the course is in very good shape everywhere except the bunkers.

Viniterra is a fun track to play and a good test for any skill level if you choose the correct tee box. Each hole is unique and visually stunning. The fairways are wide (with the exception of number 4, which needs to be redesigned, imo), and the greens are large.

The staff are friendly and the pace of play was excellent. I look forward to going back soon
