Got potential

Newly laid out course with some completely new holes, so don't feel I can be too harsh! Greens were not great if I'm honest, very slow and some with tracks along them making putting a challenge (or more of!). Some very nice holes though and the water on the course presented a good challenge (take a few balls!). I think in a year or two the course will be top notch though, and it is worth a visit if you can get a reduced green fee, as not sure in its current condition that its worth full price. Great clubhouse, good ambience and friendly staff, stop serving bacon sandwiches at 12 tho....

Don’t waste your money

The course may well be good in a couple of years but at the moment it’s very poor. Fairways in poor condition and greens are very slow and uneven. The layout is poor- they have missed a trick - long walk from 1st to 2nd. Signature hole green is too small. 17th seems like an afterthought. Even the original holes are poor.

Very disappointing.

Nice course shame about the greens

Aldwark Manor is just over 5700 yards which is short. It makes up for this with some interesting holes. Hopefully the greens will improve as this was the major downside of the course. Differing speeds, mostly slow with some in need of repair. Poor for a course that has only been re-opemed for a month.

Day 1 opening Round

We played here as a 3 ball for a day before wedding round, picked it due to it being a little more expensive and a proper treat. The course opened its newly renovated 18 hole course that day and we were the second group on it. Absolutely amazing course that will only get better once it’s bedded in more. Some good challenging holes, lovely design and details. The greens were immaculate and fairways all cut properly.

Due to some holes being fully renovated there were some “pick and place” on a couple holes but barely noticeable. The staff in the “Bunkers” bar before and after couldn’t have been more accommodating and friendly. This course has instantly gone into my top 3 I’ve played and will only get better, no expense has been spared when designing this course and the organisers should be very proud.

Aldwark Manor

Undergoing restoration but playable holes in reasonable condition. The new holes under construction look fantastic so look forward to playing there next summer.

Only 9 holes but in great condition

This will be an excellent course when it’s back to 18 holes

The 9 playable now are in good condition and for £9.99 excellent value we did it twice , only letdown is the bar prices £5.50 a pint and service was non existent had to go searching for staff to pay bill after waiting 10 minutes to get served . This will sadly be priced out of normal golfers reach and only interested in corporate and weddings etc

Nice course but going through a refurb

Arrived to play 9 holes which were holes 5-13 due to the course and hotel going through a. Refurb.

Staff informative and friendly, you do have a bit of a walk from the reception to the 5th tee over bumpy and hilly terrain so her a buggy if you are hrs of walking or don’t have a trolley.

Course played well but greeens were heavy in places and slightly too long.

All in all lovely course would like to play 18 once all development is complete with the famous 18th a must.

Poor condition at this time

Normally a well presented course but at the moment they are having a major refurbishment to not only the course but also the hotel, the place is a building site and the course has been left to suffer because of it, very little difference between the fairways and the rough and the greens had more sand than grass, will visit again but not till later in the year.

Enjoyable morning

Course in decent condition now drying out. Only the 9 holes across the river open due to work on the course near the hotel. The holes that are open are generally fairly long. Relaxed course which is usually fairly quiet. No practice green or warm up area at the moment which is a shame. Good value, but is only for 9 holes.

Aldwark Manor

Winter greens very rough (admittedly only 4 of the 9). In these winter conditions, there is an urgent need for boot scrapers and hoses to wash shoes and trolley wheels after playing. I look forward to the completion of the new golf course, although I fear I will be priced out of using it.

Course was good condition, however irritating Green Keepers on mowers follow you round, annoyingly buzzing you like mosquito’s.

Couldn’t they just go ‘mo somewhere else’ for 10mins !!!

Thanks

Give it a year

Played a handful of times before the renovation. Now only the holes over the bridge/river open. Greens had been aerated hugely and covered about 10mm thick of sand making putting seemingly impossible - like playing in a bunker. Fairways and first cut rough covered in leaves already this early into winter, needs to be swept and cleared more - end up losing the ball even when hitting fairways as it’s under all the leaves.

The renovation and new lake look impressive, wouldn’t come back until it’s finished reno 100%

Good 9 Hole Course

Good 9 hole course, excellent value for money at £10 green fee. Revamp under way to bring it back to 18 holes looks really promising.
