Alfreton Golf Club

Its was expensive, £18 each (3ppl) for 16 holes as 7 and 8 were not in play. We waited 20-30 mins to play the 11th (which is also the 1st) as the queue for the 1st had grown. They also told us if we wanted to play 18 holes then play 1 and 2 again, which would have been for the third time! Won't be going back as 16 holes took 4 hours and 42 minutes what with all the waiting. A map would have been handy.

Unfortunately the underfoot conditions didn't help the enjoyment of playing first round of the holidays

Staff were great

Design wise this is a good challenging short distance course. Tee positions carefully laid out and lovely fairways of good cut length. However, out of all the courses I have played this year, for September time they were covered in sand and had drainage lines on them.Very hard therefore to putt and expect the ball not to bobble. If it had rained lots recently I could understand for this, but had no rain in a good few days. Also pace of play was very slow. I would still recommend the course as the layout is nice, will give it a go next year in late spring.to get a better opinion.

I really liked the layout of the course and felt the holes were at a challenging level. However I would say that the grass was too long in the first cut.

My main concern was there being no staff upon my arrival and no refreshments available to purchase for my round of golf.

I appreciate the golf club cannot do much about this last point but numerous pairs tried to rush us on my taking their tee shots whilst we were still on the fairway within striking distance.

Booked through golf now and no where on the description does it say that it’s a glorified 9 hole course you play round twice. I mean for the money it’s very expensive. The greens are in good condition but unbelievably slow, really couldn’t work out how they could be that slow. Some tough holes don’t get me wrong but as whole it’s not worth the money at all. Also if you get a cross over from first part of the course to go back around it’s a massive traffic jam! I wouldn’t play again unless it’s a very good price.

Was a great course to play on well maintained wasn’t too sure if we meet one of the greens men or another staff member but they were very helpful and polite. I will be making another booking to play here soon I couldn’t fault it.

This course is a good little tester for all abilities ,this 9 hole course can be a little confusing as to which hole you play next if you haven’t played it before and if you’re Garmin or any other range finding equipment has not been updated .The course was in good condition considering the terrible wet winter we have had.

First game back. Like we’d never been away. Excellent day.

You basically play the same 9 twice. Feel a bit mis-sold!

Playing off mats on all tees now and you have to carry a little mat round with you to play your shots off. Fair enough with winter coming I guess but other courses don’t ask for that and it diminishes the enjoyment.

Greens in good nick.

Pro was very friendly - top bloke!

Would definitely play here again. Greens were fantastic to say it was late October. No bobbles and not a pitch mark in sight.
