Away day
Very well kept course set in parkland extremely hospitable welcoming staff and members It was a pleasure to play here.
Better than expected
I played this course last year and was pleasantly surprised. It’s only a 10 hole course then you re-play most of the front nine off different tee boxes.
The course has been further improved since last year. Old 1st has gone. The 1st & 2nd are new, the 3rd is now par 5 and includes the old 2nd. Also new practice nets.
The course has plenty of variety, interesting greens and very scenic. Staff are really friendly.
I would happily play again
Discovered a Gem.
Last minute choice and a Golf Now “steal” at £14. Warm greeting and helpful staff. Although on my own I was invited to make up a 3 with two friendly members. The course was in great condition and we had no hold ups on a beautiful afternoon. Wish it could always be like this.
Lovely little course!
Visited Alfreton as a group of 3, first time playing the course and really enjoyed it.
The first thing to note is its a 10 hole course, I wasn't aware of that prior to us arriving and was slightly disappointed, but I shouldn't have been!
The course is short but quite tight and a great test of accuracy from the tee. It felt like the kind of place where course knowledge was key and further visits would make things easier.
The greens were excellent, with lots of slopes and undulations and it was easy to be caught out if you get the wrong side of a flag. The greens ran very true and we didn't have one ball bobble all day.
Everyone we encountered around the club were very friendly, including the Course Marshall for the day, the green keeping staff and members. We stayed after we finished and had a quick drink, the steward was again very friendly and made us feel welcome.
We would definitely revisit Alftlretin GC again and will do so in the near future. A very friendly club and great value for money.
Thanks to all at Alfreton GC.
Very good and challenging for all golfers
Very good course and facilities.
Great value for money.
A challenging course for all levels.
Fantastic course & club.
I have played at Alfreton on numerous occasions this year & do not have a bad word to say about it.
It is a great course which caters to all players. The greens are very well kept for such a small course/club & the variety of holes makes for a very entertaining round.
The staff & members at the club are extremely friendly & welcoming which i haven't always found when playing courses as a visitor, so was a major factor in us coming back.
Alfreton Course
What a great little course only 5500 plus yards but what a course. Greens and fairways in great condition. Some holes are tight others more forgiving. Big Hitters watch out, if you over hit then you are in lots of trouble.
Staff in the pro-shop very friendly and helpful.
Even the friendly duck walks a few holes with you, which is amazing with them little feet.
Its a must play course.
Great little course
Great little course in excellent condition
Made to feel really welcome everyone very friendly
Would highly recommend !!
What a bargain
This course is a great course, friendly members and for £11 on tee times you just can’t go wrong
Lovely day out. Pro ensured we got out before the regular Wednesday fiddle, ensuring we had an enjoyable quick game. Course is in good overall condition, greens true bit a little slow.
This is our 4th visit and it is always an enjoyable/friendly club
Would definitely recommend
Played the course after a very wet 2 weeks so was expecting mud but the course was in great condition.
Pro staff were knowledgeable and friendly without being too pushy. Gave us tips on how to play the course.
Club house was reasonable priced.
Greens are small and very fast.
Backed up a bit when the holes merged so that you could play the full 18
nice course
nice little course.11 holes n then play 7 holes again..Holes are all varied ans challenging. Greens were in fab condirion . Great value for money
Great day at Alfreton
A lovely days golf on a course in great condition. Finished off by the friendly staff and members that ensured we had a great day out
Accuracy over distance
A course that rewards good course management and accuracy over distance. Greens and fairways in good condition. Difficult course for first timer, would benefit from a strokesaver. Several blind tee shots, and depth of greens difficult to gauge. Was wary of the 11 holes,18 tees aspect (route explained by friendly Pro Shop) but not an issue today. Not sure if on a busy day. Would be disappointed if a second visit didnt produce a better score (ahem !)
Great little course
Great little course played it quite a few times - main problem tee'd off at 12 .08 - played first 11 holes as this is an 11 hole course the 12th hole is actually the 1st hole - when we got there after playing 11 holes we were told by very rude members that the tee was closed as there was a match on and we would have to wait approx 1 hour until every pair in the match had tee'd off - which we did but had lengthy waits on every tee behind the match due to their extremely slow play - I would advise any visitors to this course to be aware of this - the members are very rude - do not appear to like visitors - and seem to think they own it - it is not very welcoming !!
Very poor greens
When we arrived the club house was closed and there was no members around this meant we did not have a club score card so because we booked on line we tooled up and set off, luckily my golf partner had got the course on his iPhone.
The course itself was only just playable to be fare because of resent weather conditions but greens were in a very poor condition because none of the pitch marks had been visible repaired for a very long time we were not impressed
and will probably not play there again.
Regards
Steve
