Second time, did the full 18 this time.
Reason for slightly lower stars:
Course layout could be slightly improved. Some back and forth holes.
Birds and nature at golf course. We saw some amazing things whilst playing golf, squirrels, geese and few variety of birds. All confidently moving around balls in play.
Water hazards went well, and this is definitely the USP for the course. Grounds keepers clearly doing a good job to maintain a luxury golf course!

Interesting course, lovely setting.
Very enjoyable round, interesting course, trees make it challenging enough for high handicappers, I'd definitely play again.
First round here
Beautiful setting, well cared for. Trickier than I thought it was going to be. Lots of trees and it is a relatively narrow, couple of times balls came close to us from neighbouring holes. Would recommend and go back.
Nice short course
Nice short course, looked after however, no sign of any staff and golf shop was closed all day.
Why oh why...
Why have I never played here before? One of the best courses I have ever had the pleasure of playing. I wouldn't change a thing about it. Big smooth greens similar to the ones they had at Henley very nice to putt on, very true. Wide tree-lined fairways with plenty of run-out. Perfectly placed hazards. 2 very scary par 3's over a lake but so enjoyable. If you take your time and study the course map carefully on each hole it is such a pleasant course to plot your way around. I was playing solo so I caught up with two 3-balls in quick succession. They both waved me through asap. Even though I was being careful and taking my time to enjoy the course for the first time ever it still only took just over 3 1/2 hours. I wish I could have stayed longer. No time wasted looking for balls as the rough is very short, that really helps a course rating. Some of the scenery is stunning around the Hotel, very pretty place to visit even without the Golf. 9th Tee!!! What a fright the first time you get there!!!! I won't ruin the surprise after that.....
I am a member at a Club just a few miles away, but I wish I could play here every week instead. 18th hole, a bloody great 100foot tall and wide Oak tree in the middle of the narrow fairway. Water to the left, Hotel in front, hazards to the right!!!! I faded a soft High 7 wood over the tree which ran into the bunker up against the lip, 100yards to the flag, but Hotel beyond! If I thin it I could be chipping out of someone else's bedroom window lol. I tug it 80 yards forward, 20 yards left. I'm now faced with 26 yards to the pin over the bunker with the green running away from me, if I knife it I'm in someone's room!!! I need to pop it in the air and land it 16 yards into the edge of the fringe and let it run down to the hole. I hit it perfect, it ran to hole and dropped in for a birdie 3!!
My best shot of the day was the last one and I cannot wait to come back with some friends.
Ardencote I love you.
Standard dropped.
Like most hotel courses this has been neglected recently I played it before previously and the front line layout is very good but is a bit basic but this time the condition of both the fairways and the greens left them to be desired. Unfortunate because it did take away the amount of the enjoyment.
Decent conditions
Played on a chilly morning, course was in good conditions, greens played well. Course it's self is OK, front 9 decent, back 9 is repetitive. Overall good value for money.
Front 9, great exp with good views
Arrived early in order to get the full picture of the grounds as this is a manor and active hotel and spa. Utilised clearly as a wedding venue; this premise boasts a lovely golf course too. Conditions for this review were 'sub-par', so please consider this when reading my review. High gusts, and damp under foot.
Upon arrival I made my presence known by visiting the pro-shop and giving attendence. The greeting felt fairly welcoming and I was offered a score card and pencil, which were on the table by the door on the way out of the pro-shop. I was directed at the desk to the first tee, yet this fell short of ensuring I had 'everything' I may need in my opinion (IMO). I notified the receptionist that I would be going to the putting green; as is common.
Ardencote features two putting greens one you see via the drive in, the other is behind the car park. Due to the high winds, there were branches on the putting greens which no one had moved, so this is how I started. The front putting green by the shed was what you'd expect, however I felt a little more gradient would improve this (IMO). The other putting green has beautiful surroundings - the unique selling point of the course!
After an adequate putting practice, I wandered the grounds. This raised my spirits, I found the on-premise marketing QR code displaying their costs and tee times. I also saw the reception for the main hotel, which looked very inviting. As I had golf gear it was sensible not to enter. I wandered the surrounding edges of the manor; their conference suits and hotel rooms. This was ultimately to see the 9th hole and take a few pictures. As I was still ahead of schedule, I re-visited the pro-shop and asked for an earlier tee-time. Although this was granted, I felt there was a lack of continuity between the presence of sportsmen on the first tee and the schedule on the computer. This could be improved.
Conditions were approved and I started to play a round of golf responsibly. Conditions under foot on the first, second and third were boggy and exceptions had to be made. Don't miss this course as if you continue you get to a +400 yard hole with a tee-off water hazard and associated bunkers placed appropriately. To summarise my favourite hole on the front 9 is infact the the 9th hole, teeing off away from the manor with clear visibility from all the windows. Player beware, the holes can be situated quite closely so worth checking the course rules prior to playing.
Iddylic, yet affordable. Worth a wander around.
