Mr SMG
in great condition for the time of year. the best track for miles around.
Needs signposting
This is a decent course for the beginner/intermediate. It's in good condition (some bunkers GUR).
The only negative is the holes need signposting. The 2-ball in front of me went to the wrong tee twice. I had to circle back. Luckily the regulars that day were nice and let me play through them......again.
Deffinately worth playing.
This course offers a real golfing experience. It's undulating fairways mean that you will need every every shot and club in your armoury. I had a great time, Pro shop, and club house are very friendly. I will be playing BDGC again, soon.
Lovely place to play
Second time playing here, greens are superb and general condition is great, highly recommend
Great course
Very impressed with the course. Greens were not the fastest but were soft, well cut and had a good roll. Fairways were in great condition. One of the longer courses near London which is refreshing. Lots of dog-legs and interesting holes. Overall a great course I’d happily recommend.
Nice with a but...
Nice course and for the money 30 quid, a decent price but I did find the course very samey, only 1 stand out hole, the pat 3 17th, other than that they were all very similar. Greens are interesting but pretty straightforward lfairwqys.Reminded me of hampton court, a similar experience. I really wanted to like this place as its 15 minutes from me and was considering joining but not now, I'd get bored in weeks. Friendly staff and would still recommend but not at a high price point. 3.5 out of 5
Classy downland course - very enjoyable
This James Braid designed course has elements of some of his classic Scottish courses, playing fairly firm and fast even after a summer of rain. It is a tight course, bordered by thick trees and bushes so you need to be fairly straight off the tee but get the ball in play and you can probably score well. I was a bit wayward off the tee and was punished with lost balls. YOu can come off here feeling beaten up if not being sensible off the tee.
Greens needed a cut but they were very consistent and steady. Definitely a course I will rush back to play. I had never played before and made some poor decisions with choice of club off the tee. Don't expect to play lights out first time you play here but some course knowledge will help with repeat plays.
Very well kept, challenging course
First time playing at Banstead today and it’s probably the best course I’ve played in a long time. Fairways are kept extremely well. It has nets (very rare these days), chipping green and putting green to help warm up. Would recommend to anyone.
A course for all year play
1st game unfortunately the greens have been just hollow tired.
The directions to the next tee box could be better sign posted. We got lost a few times.
Apart from the above comments it was quite enjoyable, friendly staff in Pro-shop and club house.
You will enjoy
Well draining open parkland course. Friendly pro shop, very good condition all round.
Very enjoyable
The course was in excellent condition for the time of year and considering there had been a lot of rain. The tees and greens were some of the best I’ve played on this year. The layout was good with a mixture of long and shorter holes and also a mixture of straight and doglegged holes.which created a nice variance. The only criticism I have is of the A217 Road that runs through the middle of the course and you have to cross. This feels quite dangerous and a footbridge over this would be a welcome addition. But still highly recommended.
Good test, fairly long in late autumn conditions
Overall a very good experience, we played as a four ball in just over 4 hours, waited on most tees after. 9 holes, liked the course and it has a lot of long par 4s off the whites when the ball is not running, greens were pretty good, no strokesaver and a couple of blind approaches
