Decent but not great
Well maintained course but nothing particular other than that.
Wide fairways long holes make it a good practice course for beginners but nothing more for better than intermediate players.
Also tee box placements were all over the place (still confused what dark green is supposed to mean vs yellow vs white). More oddly the course is In between large highways which you will need to cross twice and avoid getting hit by a car running 40 mph.
Great track
Played here on a bright afternoon in winter. Greens, fairways and tee boxes all in great condition. Played on my own off the yellows and found it challenging but fair as conditions were v good. Didn’t use the facilities apart from the putting Green, so can’t comment on the bar etc.. A fair few dog walkers and joggers, but they didn’t really impede in what was a great round of golf on a v nice course.
Drains so well
Played in Jan 2023. Loads of rain but course was in great nick considering. Few muddy patches but very good. Greens are great. Everyone was super friendly and helpful in terms of directions (members and pro shop staff). Composite tees are good idea. Would 100% return here.
Banstead Downs G.C.
Most of the tees were superb apart from the odd one or two, greens were the best I've played on all year the 16th is the worst hole on the course but the staff in the pro shop and bar were super friendly and are a real asset to the golf club will definitely go back in the future for sure so all in all a very enjoyable place to play.
Nice track
Really nice parkland course. Course conditions were great! Kudos to the ground staff!
A great James Braid design classic
Exceeded expectations! Course was in good condition with only minimal reseeding work on parts of the fairways (understandable, given this year's dry summer). Despite recent heavy rains the course drained very well - the course evidently benefits from the high ground and chalk base - imagine it's very playable during winter months. Played after lunchtime - pace of play was very quick. A great example of a classic old-world course, and a fun challenge.
Superb condition
After the heatwave and drought I thought the course will be firm and brown but it was opposite. The tee and green are soft like carpet. Thank you to all the green keepers, good job!
Good conditions but samey
It is a nice course, with an okay layout, but super samey feel
I liked it but would not rush to come back, not at £50 a round
