Belfry Golf Club - The Derby Course

Great course first time I've played it was nice to get a lift to the first tee, and the driver to tell us about the course etc. Pace of play was slow so this was the only down side, but really good course, great layout and was designed well, will be coming back with our society.

New to golf and was worried when my friend suggested to play here however really great day the whole set up is class and very friendly - derby course was great for a beginner deffo going to play it again

I’ve played all three courses & The Derby is my favourite. It’s lovely. A good test of golf but not brutally difficult. Sunday afternoon was fantastic, not fast pace by any means but we got round in 4 hours & was exactly what we expected. Beautiful greens & well kept fairways. Don’t expect the Brabazon especially when the British Masters is coming up. The green keepers will be spending all their time & efforts on the main course but it’s in no way shabby. We paid £35 for our round which was good value. The Brabazon is the crown jewel but the Derby is the rough diamond.

The belfry on the whole is brilliant but we found the derby course itself slightly above average but being the cheapest of the 3 courses it’s what you expect. On the whole nothing to complain about.

Excellent service as always warm welcome from staff from booking in to transport to first tee and collection when completing round. Booked as a two ball paired with a third party no issue with this fully explained in booking terms and conditions. Pace of play steady at first but quickly caught up with a couple of four balls ahead one group kindly let us play through however group in front not so accommodating. Course in pretty good condition no complaints will happily return again in due course

Lovely course, gorgeous weather, fair challenge always loved playing here. The issue I found which knocks it from 5 to three stars is the conduction of the greens pitch marks everywhere! It was shocking I lost count of how many times I had to repair marks either on my line or close to it on one green I saw my ball pitch and stop dead it had landed in a massive un repaired pitch mark. Shocking really but for the price can’t complain.

From renting clubs to lift to fist tee staff where excellent. Playing as a one ball on Derby course, I was prompted to play as a four ball, which I refused and again was accommodated so I could play on my own with my non playing wife for company.

Only other thing too mention was speed of other players and unwillingness to let small groups play through.

Played at 4PM, driven to first tee at a world class course. Excellent condition. Round in 2 hours 10, no problems. Boshhhh £20

Unfortunately we got to the first we’re we was delighted to see 3 ball playing the first delighted to say we waited 42 minutes for them to move over or finish by then it was a joke

Then finally a park manager came out It by that time we lost interest and unfortunately we played 3 holes before leaving so not my best first experience

We played a spontaneous round at The Derby course whilst visiting the area. We firstly got an incredible deal on golf now which already ticked the box for value for money. We still received the great service that the belfry is known for. For their “third” course, it’s great, very playable in great condition and meant for a nice morning on the course. If you can’t get a time on the other two courses or fancy saving a bit of money, definitely have a go on the Derby.

Always wanted to play the belfry and was sceptical about only playing the Derby course but wow it delivered a fantastic day out…..the staff were so friendly and couldn’t do enough to make you feel welcome and this is the start of me playing the belfry more often……laszlo from Derby

I play at the Belfry 6-8 times a year as I usually love it. I drove in the whole area was a mess and dug up. This continued throughout my drive in. I booked in and continued to sign in. No issues there. I went onto the putting green and there were societies/corporate everywhere swearing on the putting proactive green. The whole start to my experience wrecked my day and in fact my golf was awful I couldn’t wait to get off and get home. No idea if I want to play there again?
