Great course
Great 9 hole course very quiet can be difficult to play round as no real map of course available to guests. Didn’t use facilities so can’t comment on them
A belter of day
Love visiting this old friend, with old friends, having first cut our golfing teeth on this course back in the late 80's when we were students at Ilkley College.
As back then, the course now is still as challenging as ever, both physically and technically, but it's still a joy to play and the views from the course are amazing especially from the elevated tee of the 7th hole.
I very much doubt any course is in better condition than this at this time of year - the fairways were beautiful and the tees and greens were in good condition and will only get better as the summer approaches. Hats off the green keepers, they really know how to present this gem at it's best!
There's no club house there, just the locker rooms and an honesty box for tee fees although you should use their online booking system to confirm your tee time before rocking up That said we played Saturday morning and it was like millionaire golf with only a handful of very friendly and welcoming members playing the course, so they seem to have plenty of slots available for visitors. The 'clubhouse' as such is the Wheatley pub just down the road where a good and a decent range of beers are available and you may even qualify for a wee discount if you tell them you've been playing the course!
Course-wise it's real challenge with blind tee shots and hilly terrain, so for anyone who's never played there before I suggest you do your research as a wrong line off the tee can land you in some deep trouble!
A great Course and so glad to revisit this and will be doing so again and again as it's one that really gives as good as it gets!
Great views but too cramped
The course condition was good and met expectations but the space is just too small for 9 holes to be laid out. So many holes are criss-crossing other holes and many times you are hitting blind shots. My playing partner was very nearly hit by a ball. Would have been ok if there weren't so many people on the course, especially as there didn't seem to be any staggering of booking times when we attempted to play a second 9 holes, as other groups were trying to tee off 1 when we were on 10.
First time playing
Paid the green fees online. Only to be told that juniors have priority on the weekend. This is fine but I won’t be paying full price to held of buy a four ball of kids again. Nice pitch and putt I’d say that’s it!
Lovely little Gem
I've played 3 times at this public course, all of which very recently. This little gem of a course is very well kept and has some cracking challenging holes. The staff are all volunteers, which actually puts a lot clubs to shame, the condition of the course, considering we're not really that far from the winter season, is an absolute credit to the staff - who are all really friendly people. The views around the course are amazing and on a clear day, you won't find one better! The clubhouse was in between a refurb, but the staff still managed to find the time to pour me and my mate a beautiful pint of ale. Don't pass on playing here, it's a real little gem. I'll definitely be making this a regular journt for 9 & 18 holes.
Really good corse layout , a bit tricky to work your way round it for your first time but hole 7 is a beauty!!
Excellent 9 hole course
Challenging hilly course, magnificent views, well kept course with a variety of undulating fairways all with a backdrop of the cow and calf rocks nearby.
Great little course
First time playing here. Interesting layout for a 9 hole course. Very undulating. Nice greens and sand filled bunkers. Amazing views. Members were friendly. I'll defo be back
Amazing conditions for a winter tee and very friendly locals and members
Played on an early Saturday morning tee time and enjoyed every hole. Limited signage and no course layout on the scoreboard left us using apps to help, but.the course, backdrop and conditions more than made up for this. Great round for a good price.
Sunday no go
Great course, very challenging.
Be aware that Sunday’s are comp days for members. We booked using the online system only to be told when we arrived. We managed to get out as we had first tee. Members were not to happy.
System should not allow booking on sundays so be aware.
