Just a nice water hazard to get over Photo submitted by Uz276GW53QTNlHsllAIs on 04/15/2021
Needs some attention
Rung Pro shop to ask if there was any winter tees or temp greens, reply I got was no and trolleys are allowed and buggies only on the paths,
On playing the course I was playing of some winter tees, the course is very soft so was muddy in places and the paths were even worse, bunkers need sorting out on the majority of the holes, greens were in good shape,
There is one serious flaw in this course and that is the pace of play, caught up with a four ball who said " can't go through as there is four other four balls in front" at no point from the 7th hole onwards did they make any attempt to let me pass, old man swindle hence why you aren't going through
For £30 is was not that bad but it could be a lot better if the course issues was sorted and the members spoken too,
Good play and play - pace deadly slow
I understand this is a pay and play course although 5 hours for a 2 ball is way too long - pace of others needs to be addressed. Good standard overall although like many courses, needs the dryness to make the grass longer to cut finer. Greens were very bobbly.
Nice course needs some tlc
Nice interesting course but could do with some serious maintenance.
Charging £45 to play mostly in a bog is ridiculous. Especially when they brag about how good the drainage is!
Don’t believe all the reviews!
Considering the ridiculous amount of rain we have had recently, and what appeared to be some bad reviews of the course online, I was a little apprehensive to play the course. However this was instantly changed when the bloke at the desk greeted me and we ended up chatting for a good 15 minutes. He informed us that a number of the tees would w off mats and was understandable given how much rain we had had and we’re due to have during the day. Once we were out on the course it was amazing to see just how many tee boxes were not off mats. It was only the par 3’s that were which to be honest I completely understand. We recently played Celtic Manor (Montgomery and 2010 courses) and I would say that this course is in much better condition that those two. Fairways were in very good knock and the greens even more so. Will definitely be going back again!
Good track to play
Challenging course and very good layout! Makes you think before just hitting a shot.
Course is in good condition considering the amount of rain we had
Would recommend this to anybody looking for a challenge
Nice course but muddy
This is a nice and quite challenging course with some narrow fairways when driving. After the icy weather we have had it was a bit muddy in places and so would be best played outside of winter conditions. the staff there were very friendly and we will be back in fairer climes.
Poor condition, expensive
Course in poor condition, temporary green on 2nd hole ( due to vandalism I was informed ) - with no information as to distance etc ( and can't be seen properly with view finder ) . Pathways to some holes strewn with mud and debris making them hazardous to navigate. 18 temporary tees - often in the most obstructed location making a good tee shot very difficult or impossible ( who would place them in such a position knowing they will be compulsory in winter conditions ? ) . Pro shop unattended and closed - when I tried to raise concerns after giving up playing due to poor / hazardous condition of course. Bletchingly GC claim the course is well draining ,numerous fairways were so waterlogged balls plugged entirely. Expensive too wanted £35+ to play . Tried to raise concerns with Steve ( club pro ) who happened to be in the bar - which was open but with no bar server personel - Steve , disappointingly, didn't seem concerned . Will avoid in future and advise phoning pro shop to get update on conditions if you contemplating a round there , maybe the summer months are better - but reading the other reviews here the summer is beset by a catalogue of other issues . Was once a nice GC I heard . . . . .
Wet windy and still a playable and enjoyable round
In extremely wet and windy conditions we found the course excellent for a sociable round of golf.
We may have got absolutely soaked and at times found our lies in extremely boggy areas of the course, despite being the "best drained course around the area. It was our decision to book and play on 31st December, however, with sensible attitudes we moved balls to drier areas before we hit them (as wanted to protect the course a bit).
Greens played superb with subtle difficult, nuances, winter tees anyway which we were warned of before we booked. Fairways as good as they could possible be in the circumstances.
Nothing the club can do about the weather conditions and enjoyed it enough to come again, probably in the summer though.
Bletchingley GC - December 2022
For under £30 it was was a good value round. Note that all tee’s were from winter mats (good quality though), and there was one temporary green in play when I went.
Played on my own in about 2.45hrs, and only overtook one group as the course was empty (probably due to it being xmas eve). Winter rules were in play which was necessary due to quite patches of grass.
If you haven’t played here, probably worth a visit.
Course is in good condition for the time of year, especially after the drought of this summer. Conditions were a little soft and muddy which makes the par 5’s quite hard work! But a good and varied selection of different types of hole. Greens very good! And a well kept pint of beer at the end. Thank you very much,
Dai Pritchard.
Very slow play, course in poor condition not worth the £50 green fee.
poor condition
we were blessed with the only rainy day on 2 months but the course was not in good condition. tee boxes and front of greens were basically mud.
